I had occasion to stop here for lunch the other day. I ordered a hot open-faced roast beef sandwich with baked potato and peas. I also ordered the chicken orzo soup. The soup was very salty so I only had a few spoonfuls. Then my meal was delivered to the table. The beef looked more like it had been pulled apart as opposed to being sliced. It was doused with a thick dark brown gravy. The beef was cold so I sent the plate back to the kitchen. When the waitress returned, the beef was hot so I dug in. After a few bites I realized that the entree was just as salty as the soup and called for the check. I live in NJ, the diner capital of the US, and was quite surprised as to just how bad the food at this establishment was. Perhaps I should have limited my selections to the breakfast menu but I would imagine that it would have come out salty as well.

The remodeled interior is the only thing that makes you forget youre in a typical diner. Food and service are mediocre. Went here twice. The first time, I ordered french toast with strawberries on top. The toast was average and the strawberries were mush -- overly sweet, syrupy and clearly from a can. The second time (was hoping it would be a charm), I ordered a Greek omelet that had almost no feta and was so bland I started pushing it around in my ketchup to add some flavor. Also got pancakes, which were OK, but the syrup wasnt real maple syrup. Ive been to trashier-looking diners that at least bring out real syrup. Only thing Ive liked to date were the home fries. Dont plan on returning for a third visit.

Ive been here 3x and everytime i always get the same thing ... an omelete w/ home fries..each time i rcv my homefries they are "hard" and clearly scrapped from the bottom of a pan. on my last visit when i placed the order, i clearly said that i didnt want my homefries overcooked and guess what...they did it anyway. another problem i have is every waitress i had seemed like they were annoyed and just didnt want to be there... I would suggest having a person in the kitchen look over the food before it goes out on the floor to customers & to retrain the waitresses to provide better customer service...then maybe i would give you guys 5 stars

My husband and I stopped in earlier for dessert. I understand theyre busy for a Sunday afternoon, however we felt extremely rushed by our waitress. I asked for a lemon water and the lemon slice looked like it was old and dirty. I asked her for a vanilla milkshake and when she brought it over it was liquidity and warm. Not sure about you but most milkshakes are made with icecream and are thick and cold! The desserts themselves were delicious (hint the two stars). When asked how it was, I replied with a polite yet honest answer of how bad the service was all he did was apologize but said nothing else. Definitely not going back.

My first time here and I have to say best food Ive had at a diner. I had the south of the border omelet with home fries and scrapple. It was a generous portion, well prepared and above average quality. The scrapple was just the best Ive ever had. If youre not sure if you like scrapple, try it here! My friends had burgers which were prepared perfectly. We loved the creativity in the menu and would definitely go back. I noticed only one waitress so I think they were short handed that night, but she handled like a champ. She didnt let on if she was upset. Try this place!

Not bad typical dinner food asked for crispy bacon but didnt get it I asked at my home fries be flipped and burned on both sides that didnt happen either but they were still really good home fries. French toast looks great but when you taste it it just really really Bland. One person in our party ordered the crabby Benedict which says that its served over crab but its really served over a crab cake in the crab cake isnt very good mostly all breading wouldnt recommend it average ticket was $15 person kind of pricey for breakfast but you do get a lot of food

The staff were very friendly and attentive, our order arrived exceptionally promptly, and the food was absolutely delicious. The restaurant is immaculate and the atmosphere is inviting and comfortable. The menu contains delightful perspectives on traditional diner fare (add chorizo to your omelet!) and the coffee is incredible, with flavored syrups available on request. Best of all, the meal we thoroughly enjoyed was very reasonably priced. Thanks for a delicious visit!

Slow, rude, inattentive service, just last night. Waitress, Pat, put included gratuity on our check, but not on any other tables check (we asked them). No signage indicating added tip policy. Asked her about it and she couldnt give a reason. I normally tip 30% flat anywhere. Asked her to remove the tip, and she started insulting & calling us names. We had to ask 3 times for the (non-present) managers name before she gave in. Shame, as we had previous good experiences.

Best diner Ive been too! We just moved into the area and dont eat out often, but weve been 3 times already! Im normally very wary of diners because the food is normally bland and so on, but I have yet to eat something here that I didnt like. In fact I have LOVED every plate Ive ordered! :) The staff is always helpful and friendly and their soup and salad bar has a good selection which is always tasty. Definitely give is place a try!

Service buckles under pressure, busy Sundays are not a good time to come here. Try to plan an off hour trip to get good service. Apart from that excellent diner, but I prefer St Lawrence Family diner up the street during the week and normal hours. Update: Service has improved and menu has been refreshed, service is excellent late hours, havent had a chance to visit for Sunday brunch.

Extremely rude waitress customer service is terrible here. The waitress charged to our bill higher prices than the ones on the menu and when we asked her why after receiving our check she said she thought we knew since what we ordered was only offered mon thru Friday. Her job is to let customers know these things and on top of it she was so rude about it, it was unbelievable.

my wife and I came here for dinner, and she ordered an omelet. granted this happened close to 4 years ago,... the next morning she woke up feeling Ill, to say the least, bad bowel movements. lasted about two days, can only blame it on food poisoning. Ill never go there again, not worth the chance!, however Ive always enjoyed their salad bar

Great place I mean really. Food is consistently better than average. Over 55 menu is great, salad bar is fresh, soups are above average good AND the witnesses are wonderful mostly lol. Occasionally have had less than stellar service but even then would be considered routine in other places. Does it show how much I enjoy this place

Before I moved to the area my Mom and Dad were raving about Exeter. When I moved here I have been there with them MANY times and love everything about this place. Sal and his crew are the best, and their food is to die for! Thanks for everything!!!! I highly advise you to try it at least once, you wont be sorry!!!
