Went for dinner tonight with my wife and a friend... very impressed with the selection - more varied than the typical Med restaurant which may focus on Greek or Lebanese only... Olive Tree includes cuisine from many, many Mediterranean countries. Everything we tried was great (veggie wrap, spicy chicken & mushrooms, steak kabobs), and as many others have noted, the owner stopped by to personally greet us and provide his recommendations from the menu. He even has US and World maps on the wall, and if youre a newcomer to the restaurant, he has you place a pin marking where youre from. There are pins EVERYWHERE on the maps! Our only low point of the evening was the service... our waitress was great until about halfway through our visit, when she seemed to vanish after taking our entree orders, for the remainder of our meal until it was time to get our bill. The owner was the first to notice wed depleted our pita wedges that came with the appetizer sampler (both pita and Olive Tree-O sampler were great, btw) and he replenished them personally; but then we even had to place our dessert order with another waitress! Even though wed made it clear that we were annoyed by the total absence of our waitress, she never apologized when she reappeared. So... Im hoping we can give them one more shot the next time were in town, but if the same "vanishing server" act happens again, Im sure it will be our last visit - which would be a shame because the food, the restaurant, and the owner were great!

We just came back from a fabulous dining experience at The Olive Tree Mediterranean Cafe. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. Our server was very friendly and attentive, always checking back with us, refilling drinks and bringing any extra thing we asked for. The owner, David, came out to greet everyone, stopping at individual tables to talk with the guests. He also does the cooking, and the flavors are very authentic and nuanced. His homemade spicy paste, (schoug), the humous, falafel, mujadarah and lentil soup were absolutely amazing. The couscous was the most delicate Ive ever eaten. The portions are extremely generous and a great value for the money. There is so much to choose from, its hard to know what to order first. I was also very happy that the hot foods came out steaming hot (Im really particular about temperature.) Its also really helpful that vegan and vegetarian items are noted with a symbol because we had some people with us who dont eat meat. The finishing touch was some perfect Turkish coffee. We saw a very tempting Sunday brunch menu while we were there, and are planning to try it. We cant wait to go back!

The Olive Tree has some of the best food I have ever eaten. They have amazing appetizers in the Hummus Ful and Mushroom Hummus. The lentil soup is has huge chunks of vegetables and lentils and the Seafood soup has huge potatoes and good sized amounts of seafood and tastes amazing. The "Fast Foods" of Lamb + Beef Pitas and French Fries are relatively cheap compared to the full meals and will run 10 bucks. The best mean is by far the Pastitsio(spelling) which is Eggplant, potato, zucchini, and some other vegetables with Ground beef with a tomato pasta sauce and bechamel cream. Next up would be the Chicken Mujadara which has rice, lentil, onions and other veggies cooked up together with some amazing spices. My concern lately is that the original owner who was very attentive to the purchasing of vegetables and halal meats supposedly sold to a company. From what I have been told not much has changed at least in preparation, but I dont know about Quality control anymore.

Note that google maps has the location of this restaurant incorrect (our Garmin didnt have it in the POIs yet, either). You can find it by searching their address (3185 Hil.-Rome Rd). I cannot speak highly enough about our partys (group of 4) experience at the Olive Tree. The food was very good (were not easy to please), the entree portions were substantial (appetizers average in size), the prices were very reasonable, and the service was some of the best Ive ever had at a mid-scale restaurant (Daphne was incredible!). The owner even came out to greet all the patrons (it was quite busy) and to tell us a bit more about his new restaurant. The only thing lacking is the drink list, with just a few red and white Mediterranean wines to wet your whistle (priced well). This place is a gem, and worth a trip across Columbus. I rarely say this... but I dont see how this place could be a disappointment for anyone (unless something changes significantly).

Used to be a solid 5 and one of the best places to eat in Hilliard. In the last 6 months or so the food quality has fallen tremendously as well as the service. Used to have the owner come around to your table during your meal to chat and seemed to genuinely know and care for each person he spoke to. Recent visits he has not been there and the food quality isnt the same. Our favorite server, Alejandra, is no longer around and the wait staff, while pleasant, just doesnt feel the same. On several recent carry out orders the food has been of very low quality and either missing items or having wrong items in the order. Now I hear they may be opening on Mondays now makes me believe that they are in fact not making the same revenue as before and looking for ways to help boost income. Edited on 4/8/17 to add: Olive tree is back!! Food quality is backy, wait staff is on point. Glad to see them back to the high standards the original owner set.

This review is purely service since unfortunately we were not there long enough to order. We tasted this restaurants food at the taste of Hilliard and decided to go there for dinner this evening. Upon arriving the first employee let us know there would be about a ten minute wait to get a table, 2 adults and 2 kids (1 high chair). That seemed perfectly acceptable seeing as they were busy and the food smelled great. Not more than 3 minutes later another 4 person group walked in that apparently another employee knew and he sat them immediately in front of us even after the first hostess told him we were there first. With that we left and as we were walking to the car this employee tried to salvage the situation by claiming they were "waiting on the best table for us" clearly not true just trying to cover up his obvious mistake.

First off, great service and average prices but absolutely unmemoriable food. Hummus was flat, boring, and almost bitter/sour! We actually requested to return it (which has never happened at all with hummus). Ordered the kabob combo: the kafta was charred and overdone but had a little flavor, chicken was bone dry, chewy and flavorless, lamb was very chewy and well overdone. Rice had a very strong peanut flavor but was well maintained when combined with pita and sauces. With all the high regards received via other reviews, I was exited at first but then left completely disappointed. Ive eaten quite a few Mediterranean places across the country and this was my least favor I have ever eaten... Will not be returning.
