My boyfriend and I visited the downtown Buca di Beppo to enjoy some lunch. Although he had been before, this was my first experience with the chain. The decor was a bit exhausting, adopting the cliched "put everything AND the kitchen sink as long as its Italian" motif. It took approximately fifteen minutes to be seated as a large group was in front of us. As well, multiple large parties were exiting before we found ourselves to a booth. Unfortunately, most other booths & tables were vacant and the wait suddenly became inexplicably annoying. Our server was very kind, although a bit reserved. He was prompt with both our drinks and food as well as complimentary bread for our lunch visit. However, upon receiving our food, it was soon found that my partners pasta was of a tepid condition; I found it more so cold. My dish was good, but certainly not worth the price as opposed to other, local Italian locals at which Ive dined. An awkward moment involved our waiter, having dropped off our check and saying to, "Enjoy our day." Luckily a very kind waitress was nearby and confirmed she could take care of it and that we werent to proceed up front to finish our bill. Our original waiter returned, quickly rushed off after dropping the check for signature, and forgot to give us a pen. Again, the waitress to the rescue! Honestly, I would have preferred her, but I really couldnt complain too much. As we left, the host did not wish us a good day or flat-out acknowledge us. All things considered, I wouldnt return to this location nor any other of the chain. Sure, gaudy decor is humorous and a bit of clumsy service is excusable, but cold food and overpriced quality isnt.

The food was almost average. It was a little bland but it was good enough to eat after salt and pepper. The atmosphere is family oriented which means theres noise and hustle back and forth. The themed rooms are cluttered. I told my waitress that we were new and she said ok. She didnt explain anything about the uniqueness of the restaurant, why it was a good chiice, which items were recommended or best sellers, nor did she offer options about wine or dessert or anything that would enhance our first visit. Not only were we not treated as new customers that could be longlasting customers, she didnt even offer the basics like olive oil for the bread, which I saw her offer to other customers that were seated after me. She smiled but that was it. No genuineness and attention to the new customer experience. The food does feed a minimum of 2 (average) so that made the price affordable. The garlic bread is made with whole garlic cloves which would have been nice to know when she initially denied they had after my fiancé asked before we ordered. I even stayed a little longer to write this review and still no offer of anything, not even a refill on water.

I have been here a few times and it has always been an interesting experience. The pastas are good and large. There was a dish that sounded really good but it had spicy sausage in it, which I do not like (I cant do spicy foods and sausage makes me feel like I am going to have a heart attack). I asked them if I was able to substitution the sausage with chicken instead and they were willing to do that at no additional charge! The meals can be expensive but if you use the $10 off $20+ order coupons when they are available this helps out a lot and gains them even more business from me. The one complaint I do have about it there however is the bread. The bread they serve is really not that good and it is cold. I have had bread from "OCharlies" and "Bravo!" restaurants which were warm and freshly baked out of the oven, but Buca does not do that. If they were to serve warm bread with a better dipping sauce then the rating would probably be 5 stars!

My family wanted a night in and had a gift card so we decided to get take out. None of us had ever eaten Buca di Beppo before so we kept the ordering pretty standard. We (family of three) got a large chicken parmesan, extra sauce for some angel hair pasta, and a small cheesy flourintine bread. All together it was $50. The chicken was amazing and you get a large portion... about 6 large cutlets. The bread was very good but for $14 we expected more than what we got which cost 1 star. Over all it was good. Good enough to peak our interest. This is not authentic Italian which cost 1 star because the prices are that of authentic italian that we have had elsewhere. We will definitely try it again but dine in next time with a larger group... I could see how this place would make for a fun night out with friends!

I had taken my family there to enjoy a great evening out. And I was very very disappointed. Excuse me, we were all disappointed. The area where we were seated had a air vent above us blowing out cold air. We had to ask our waiter 4times to cut the air off. She did each time, we asked but it only stayed off for no more then 5minutes each time. Finally we said if it comes back on again we were going to leave!!! We had to sit there the whole time with our coats on. Finally after that they cut the air off and it stayed off. Now in regards to the food. We were not happy at all. The lasagne was not good. Neither was the spaghetti. We were very disappointed. And will not be going back!!!!!!

Buca di Beppo used to be a favorite of me and my friends back a few years ago. But since then, the menu has undergone a few menu transformations that I find rather unfavorable, narrowing down the options to a good number of easily-prepared pasta dishes and salads. Yes, they taste well enough, but for the prices, I would hope that these dishes would contain an ingredient, method, or anything that I couldnt do on my own at home for a third of the price. So if you dont mind having to shout over the table to your fellow diners just to be heard, and paying a lot for a dish that you could easily prepare at home with just a little bit of know-how, Buca is fine for an outing with friends.

So came for a birthday, brought about 10 people. Took the server 20 minutes to welcome us, and said let me cash out another table, and Ill be back. Took him another 15 minutes to come back, took our food and drink order. The food came before the drinks. I told a manager about what was going on. His offer to fix it was to buy the birthday person ice cream. After the food came the server finally said oh wait Ill bring you bread... isnt that supposed to come as an appetizer/snack??? And he only brought one little loaf for ten people.... I used to love this place.... Service is horrible, and young manager didnt give a crap!!!!

The great part about this restaurant is that it accommodates for big groups and family gatherings. At the same time bringing a bigger party could cause a longer wait time. The food is fairly good, there is a good variety of Italian dishes and wines. The spicy dishes are very spicy, so try at your own risk. The portions are huge and are meant for sharing between 2 - 3 people. The service has been slacking recently as compared to how it used to be. I will say my favorite thing in here is the Tiramissu, its huge and delicious. Definitely something to try if you have never been.
