Service was below poor. Hostess seated us with a smile but little other interaction. Was a small wait before the bus boy silently filled water glasses and a bit longer before our server greater us. She asked my more than slightly pregnant wife if she would like a glass of wine and when asked for lemon w her water the server ran off before asking or even waiting for a response from me. Upon return w lemons I asked if there were any specials to which a sharp NO was given (not disrespectful but not politely either). We requested an order of the sauted calamari to which she blurted "You know thats not fried right?" We stated we were aware and placed the rest of our order. Server said shed be back with bread. Now around when the lemons were brought an additional family was sat, order taken and bread brought. Our calamari arrived w a hostess and we request bread and more water. We were given an excuse that they were waiting on fresh bread from the oven and the hostess returned to her stand where she entered into a lengthy Convo w the other hostesses. 3 more tables received bread during this time, one within seconds of the excuse. Our server ran by at a distance multiple times bringing drinks to other patrons. Upon this other familys 2 entries and a pizza arriving they asked for more bread and got it before our server returned. To the credit of one of the other hostesses she was heard being very polite and accommodating as she sat another couple. Upon the return of our server she cleared our plates taking my wifes utensils and stated shed bring fresh utensils with our meal. I politely asked again for bread and to refill my wives empty water glass (which had been empty almost since the apitizer arrived). We received an apology. 3 minutes later bread arrived, we no longer had any plates to eat on though. Our meals arrived, still no utensils for my wife, so I asked the other server for such. She returned promptly but w only a fork. Me and my wife shared my knife as a result. Our meal was very good, maybe a small portion for the prices but not unreasonable. We enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. And we did receive a 2nd serving of bread without asking. When our server finally seen that i had stacked our dishware at the end of the table and was waiting for her to return she tried to salvage things. She raced over offering to clear the table and I asked for the check, never did ask if we wanted desert (we didnt so no issue here). She blurted out asking if I would like another glass of water as she hussled away not waiting for a response. -Service was below poor. -Atmosphere and food was nice. -menu was smaller than I had hoped. Not sure wed go back when Little Italy is so close, larger menus, and higher end products.

Reservations were made one month in advance for 7:00 pm ... when my party of 8 arrived we waited for 55 minutes to be seated. Apologies were given to us as we waited; however, when waiting for a table that was supposed to be ready due to reservations, you would think that the restaurant would offer to buy us a drink "on the house" for our patience. When we were finally seated, our server took our drink orders and it took approximately 15 minutes for her to come back with our bottles of wine and glasses (shouldnt take that long). We then ordered appetizers and had to ask several times for bread at the table; it was now 9:00 and we were all very hungry. Our appetizers took about 30 minutes to come out; we ordered the calamari, the antipasti platter and fried goat cheese (shouldnt have took that long!) ... Unfortunately, one of our diners had to send back his duck because it was over cooked and the risotto that was ordered as sides for two other diners were sent back as well for being bland. When the two diners told the server, she said that the risotto that was served is "just an herb risotto, nothing special." I have to say, risotto IS something special; the person cooking that night must not have known the correct way to prepare the dish. Now for the dessert course ... we ordered the tiramisu and molten lava cake. The "tiramisu" should not be called "tiramisu" it should be called amaretto cake. The reason I say this is because tiramisu is made with espresso and there was no espresso in the dish - we even asked our server and she stated that the tiramisu is made "in house" and they do not put espresso in it, in stead they put amaretto. We also ordered coffee and one of our diners got cold coffee ... when we told the server this, she said that that was the last of the coffee in the pot! Why would she bring that out?!?! Service was HORRIBLE! For the prices that Lago is asking, the food and service is not worth it. At the end of the night, the manager came to our table and expressed his apologies over and over again. Unfortunately, the 8 of us will never return to Lago, there are far too many other amazing restaurants in Tremont and Cleveland to go to who know how to treat their customers and prepare their food.

On Friday September 26th 2014 Lago hosted our Wedding Rehearsal Dinner. My husband and I wanted a traditional Italian style dinner. We received better than we imagined and our expectations were beyond exceeded! Nicole Salerno was an absolute PLEASURE to work with. I told her what I was thinking, and she delivered 100 times better! We were all in absolute awe of the food. Our guests are still talking about the food being “the best they’ve ever had” and several of them went back to Lago for dinner that same week! When we arrived the tables were covered in antipasta boards, charcuterie boards and cheese boards, followed by Italian style pizzas, salad, pastas, meatballs, tortelloni and even a desert duet of lemon sorbetto and the best Tiramasu you’ll ever experience. Our glasses were overflowing with wine and champagne toasts. The staff was amazing and catered to our every need. Drinks and food were replenished faster than we could devour them. No detail was left undone. Lago is truly a gem, right down to the amazing location. After dinner in the lavish private dining room, we continued our cocktails outside on the trendy and cozy patio under the lights of the city. If you are looking for Italian, no one can do it better than the Salerno’s at Lago. The atmosphere, location, food and staff are unparalleled in Cleveland. Thank you! Megan and Lee Carr

Started our meals here with a fantastic dish of Calamari (roasted tomato, spicy white wine tomato brodo) <--- servers recommendation and my god, was it worth ordering. The broth in which it was presented, was tasty enough to be made as a soup, entirely. Atmosphere is very cozy and modern, and I almost felt as if I were dining in someones beautifully decorated dining room within their home. Ordered the Lobster Gnocchi (tomato, corn, basil, truffle cream) for my entreé and had once again, struck a winning dish. At this point, nothing could have been better during our dining experience. Service was incredibly good, atmosphere was beyond welcoming and stylish and the food was to die for. Paired this meal with a glass of medium bodied white wine: Far Niente Napa Valley Chardonnay 12, and you can say that I left quite satisfied. Highly recommended restaurant.
