Just got done having lunch here for a business meeting. I had the Etouffee(shrimp/crawfish gumbo) which was the daily special. Food was okay, nothing special. I was thinking about going back another day to give it one more try but decided not to after looking at my receipt. The outside sign promotes "Daily Special: Etouffee, shrimp or crawfish, or both $5.55." All of this is on the sign with no price difference or additional cost. So I go in and order it with both meats and a water. It comes out to be $7.09. It was additional $1.25 for both meats but no where does it say that and the sign outside says otherwise. And there was a 15 cent misc. non-taxable add to my meal. I dont mind paying extra but the outside sign is misleading/false advertising! I dont like to be mislead or tricked! When he(owner) asked me if I wanted shrimp or crawfish or both, then he should have told me it was extra for both meats. I have worked in the food industry and have always told customers whenever something is extra while they are ordering so when they get to the end they arent surprised by the bill. Bad ethics! They have lost a potential recurring customer and I will tell my friends not to eat here. Again the food wasnt all that, just some rice and shrimp/crawfish gumbo with a piece of bread. But its the principle, be up front with your customers and dont try to trick them to pay more. I will now try my hand at cooking this at my house and save my money.

This is my second time visiting this location and both times I have enjoyed the delicious food. The first time I had the Bourbon Street Chicken and today I had the Bumble Bee Chowder. Having family from and having lived in Louisiana a good deal of my life its like taking a quick trip back down south without having to drive 12 hours! The staff is extremely friendly with that feel of southern hospitality that I grew up with! Will definitely be coming here often.

Pretty sure the guy behind the counter mixed up the drunken chicken with the voodoo chicken. I have had the drunken chicken countless times. Its my favourite menu item. But this time, I couldnt even finish a third of it. WAY too spicy. I coughed and hiccupped through the first few bites. When I asked the owner about it, I was told I would have to pay for another meal if I wanted something else, so I just threw my lunch away and left.

J. Gumbos in Finneytown is awesome. The people couldnt be nicer and so accommodating. Picked up 3 entrees for dinner last week abd all 3 were sooo good we couldnt decide on the best. Their red beans and rice are over the top good, with big slices of smoked saysage. YUMM-O. Couldnt beat it for $21.00. Would spend more than that on fast food and not have the quality, taste or goodness!!!

Loved the Gumbo, and the Service was fantastic. This was by far one of the best experiences I have in a restaurant in some time. The ladies who waited on me were friendly, cheerful and just wonderful. I would go back simply for this fact. And the jumbo was delicious. I really loved this place.

Go to the J Gumbos on Ludlow Avenue near the University of Cincinnati. The rice here is overcooked, the sauce is watery, and the bread is bland and dry. The Ludlow location has great rice and sauce, and the bread is garlic and much tastier. The sweet cornbread is equally good here though.

This place is great! It has spicy flavorful Cajun food. It may not be authentic, but it is about as close you will get for the price in Cincinnati. I love the Hot Chicken and the Bumblebee Stew is as well. Combine the two and youve got something special.

The food was subpar compared to the Fairfield and Clifton locations. Establishment has a very "mall food" type of environment. Changed rating from a 2 to a 1. The bread is terrible in comparison.
