Well the staff had a great attitude but there is a lack of cleanliness around food and the preparation of the food. First The guy that took my order must have had a cold or something and I think his nose was running and he wiped his nose with his hands and proceeded to take my order, and then after he took my order he got my drink cup without washing his hands after rubbing his nose with his hands. Then he proceeded to help the cooks with the food orders and still did not wash his hands. And then there was the other guy that was out in the eating area with gloves on carrying a broom and dust pan, and when the orders would come out for him to bring it to the table to the customer he would not take the gloves off and wash his hands he would just bring the customers the food. And I was so disappointed in the food itself it did not taste good at all for the money I spent. I probably 98% will not go there again.

My picky wife loved their deli style reuben. I had the haddock fish fry lunch, and their haddock is properly breaded, rich and flavorful. The lemon and house-made tarter sauce are ready on your plate, but the availability of malt vinegar clinches the deal. The home style chips have satisfying weight with a pleasant crisp crunch. They made a great choice with their polish dill pickles. The best part is their house made potato salad, in a traditional German style. The fresh bread is served with slightly salty whipped butter and has a delightful hint of caraway. They even made the correct decision for the fountain, with Coca~cola products!

AMAZING! By far the best sandwich shop I have ever been to. Not only is the food amazing the staff is also extremely friendly. The sweet young lady at the counter helped me choose the best sandwich for me . At first I was going to get my sandwich to go ( I always do at new places in case the atmosphere is uncomfortable ) but they were so welcoming that I decided to eat my sandwich in. Their homemade chips are also the best I have ever had. Did I mention that the portions were huge? I ate half of the sandwich and a couple fries and could barely move. AMAZING FOOD, AMAZING STAFF, AMAZING BANG FOR YOUR BUCK.

Best Sandwiches in town by far! The reviews that are nit picking every aspect of the size, someone has a cold bla bla bla, is just that. Obviously these are people looking for a problem. Its a small deli with huge flavored food. If youre looking for big fancy restaurants, of course a small sandwich deli isnt going to give it to you. I eat here several days a week and LOVE the food. Never a bad sandwich. Service is great and the service may take a while, thats due to not being McDonalds and actually making your food to order. Dont miss out on this place due to a couple angry unpleaseable customers

While passing through I couldnt help but stop here after seeing it was a hole in the wall with solid, consistent five star reviews. I had the highly recommended "beef on weck," with fresh horseradish and homemade chips. Believe the hype: the trip to Wilmington, NC is worth it for this sandwich alone. The staff really help justify the high praise, as well, as they were all welcoming and helpful, running the shop with efficient service and fast turnaround on clearing tables. Definitely take the time to visit South College Sandwich & Deli if you find yourself in the area.

Potato chips delivered hot on your plate, freshly cut and seasoned. YUM! I could eat just the chips as a meal, but of course the fish plate or the beef on weck just beg to be eaten too. Dont forget the fresh warm bread or the fantastic sides and a bottle of Cheerwine! They are very kid friendly and always go out of their way to help a mom with three little ones fresh from the beach, tired and sandy. This is our favorite spot in Wilmington!

I had to make a deliever to Sams Club, which is in same Mall as the Deli. After taking my required break, and a nap, I woke up looking for food. I walked around the parking lot, not really wanting Wendys, and discovered the South College Sandwich and Deli. I had a "CUBANA" and it was the BEST Sandwich Ive had by FAR!! I wish we had one of these places in Florida where I live. Ill DEFINATLY come back to this place!! I HIGHLY RECOOMEND IT!!

This is the best sandwich place in Wilmington if you dont mind spending about 9 bucks altogether with chips and a drink. Order the chips, I beg you. HOWEVER, tell the counter people you want a side of ranch with your chips. They will bill you $0.50 for it. IF you forget to mention the ranch and sheepishly ask for it AFTER you food arrives - they will give it to you free. Dont be that guy. Also, youll probably see George Elliot there.

As a Buffalo native, I can tell you that the beef on weck lives up to my pickyness. This place is outstanding and deserves every bit of the 5 star rating it currently has. A true hole in the wall authentic dining experience, friendly staff, amazing home made food down to the chips and dipping sauces. The best place Ive eaten at in Wilmington and arguably in North Carolina so far.

Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Food was fantastic! I got the beef in weck and a today beef sandwich. The beef on weck was really good! I cant wait to come back here to get it again. The roast beef sandwich was also good but i didnt particularly like the shredded lettuce on it, but i can ask for that off so not a big deal. Horseradish were all also pretty great!

One of the best lunch spots Ive ever run across. I spent four years at UNCW, and I was in here at least once a week. Friendly staff, great ingredients, and great menu items. I havent lived there for going on three years and I still wake up most Saturdays thinking that I should swing by for a Sicilian or a Beef on Weck while Im out doing errands.

Their haddock and chips platter filled the bill for a simple, lightly breaded fish dinner. Homemade chips complimented fish well. Coleslaw was excellent. Friendly and attentive staff. Fish came with side of toasted sun dried tomato bread. Ok with the fish, but really cries out to be the base for an italian cold cut sandwich.

This is THE most wonderful place for a Beef on Weck! Marcia and her staff know how to make your day. Other fares offered are just as good, but my go to is the Beef on Weck. Atmosphere is casual and the staff is very customer oriented and friendly - they cant do enough to make you feel at home and satisfied.

My father raves about this place, but I was skeptical. I read the reviews and thought it was too good to be true. After my first visit, Im a believer. This is an example of everything that is right about a deli. Large portions, good that is cared for and about, and all set in a tiny shop in a strip mall.

Yummy. Didnt take pictures because we were so hungry. Its a very popular place, seating can be tricky. I had the ham, turkey, club on white with delicious potato salad, husband had the Beef on Weck, and my son had the haddock and house made chips. Everything delicious and reasonable! Will be back.
