I dont normally get on to rate a restaurant badly, but I am making an exception for this place. (Sorry Good Winds) So its Friday night, the week after the island has been shut down down for two weeks. You would think these restaurants and tourist locations would want to come out swinging strongly, but think again. My wife and I entered the restaurant and. Noticed it was quite busy, but that was expected with it being Friday night. We waited at the lobby for a half hour waiting for somebody to come up and greet us and let us know the status of our wait time and just to generally acknowledge that they see us. A greeter approached the front about 8 times where I stood patiently. I tried to get her attention but she just walked up for one second and left. After about a half hour of that we decided to go to the bar for a drink. This did not turn out to be any different as the Bartender behind the bar served drinks to everyone else besides us and once again she did not even acknowledge or say hi to us. After a half hour of this we decided to just leave having waisted and hour to an hour and a half waiting for some sort of service. We ate elsewhere where we were served promptly. No I did not eat here, my brother had eaten there earlier and said the food was "OK". We would have went elsewhere first but we wanted to eat somewhere close to our beach home. But the fact that nobody acknowledged us after trying for an hour and a half is just plain unacceptable. This place will never get my business and I come here yearly. With this being a vacation spot with tons of restaurants, quality of food and MORE IMPORTANTLY Quality Of Service is important to make your business stand out and to draw people in. BEWARE : if this place looks remotely busy you probably wont get any service or at the very minimum your service will be slow. Such a shame..... just a little more dialogue and friendly staff just acknowledging us would have kept this review off of Google and other review sites..... even if we decided to leave like we did.

FYI - I guess Google re-sets the timestamp for edited reviews. I was at this place back in Sept. 2013. My wife and I just finished eating here for dinner. Service is okay. My wife ordered the special of the night, a mahi-mahi fish fry, and I ordered popcorn shrimp. We were hoping for a good "last meal on the islands", but we were disappointed. Everything was deep-fried. I expected that with the popcorn shrimp, but not the fish fry. Presentation was odd as our meals were served in cafe-style plastic plates w/ white and red checkerboard paper. Since everything was deep fried, there was little taste and plenty of greasiness. Prices are pretty steep considering what we received.

My wife and I were heading down to Ocracoke and decided to stop here prior to taking the Hatteras Ferry. Its in a nice complex that includes some other stores so you can take a break from the drive. The food was very good, affordable, and plentiful. I had a seafood chowder and the hush puppies and my wife had the portobello mushroom sandwich and both were excellent. Wait staff was very friendly and even recommended some stuff in the complex to check out including the coffee shop (we saw her there about 10 mins later! haha). A good pit stop along the Outer Banks!

18% Gratuity added automatically for parties :o( . We had decent but semi slow service. Food was decent... not great. Prices were high for the quality of food. They are very good when it comes to kids meals. and our waitress was very very nice. I had the Asian noodle bowl with shrimp. The shrimp were amazing.. the asian noodle bowl was more like a generic stirfry sauce on noodles in it. Had the Hush Puppies..they were made with cornmeal which is a little bit different but they were good.

My husband and ate at this place last night and it was mediocre. For a seafood and wine bar, it was definitely lacking on the wine bar ambiance. It was more of a bar with a nice view of the water but only if your outside. The food was just ok and definitely not worth the money we paid. The calamari was cooked well but was not seasoned at all. The mahi was ok but some of it was overcooked. Rice and broccoli are very bland. We were very disappointed overall.

Went to Good Winds with a few friends while on vacation and the food was delicious. Four of us shared our meals (all seafood) and were pleased enough to return later in the week to taste more of the menu items. Fairly good selection of alcohol, ambiance was nice, and the outdoor 2nd level deck seating over looking the sound was beautiful. Honestly the only reason I did not give 5 stars was because on both occasions the wait staff was less than good.

This is a great restaurant. It has big windows overlooking the sound and is on the 2nd floor. It also has outdoor seating. Because of all that, Good Winds is one of the best places in Waves to watch the sunset. The food my wife and I had was good. Plenty of options on the menu and several specials. Maybe a bit pricey but its the Outer Banks and the portions were large. We would definitely come back on our next vacation.

Since we were on vacation with our dog we needed a pet friendly place to eat but we never expected such a great restaurant! The staff was really nice and very attentive. The food was out of this world and you cant get a better view! This place was the best! Cant wait till next year! Well definitely be back!

Family of five. There was something on the menu for everyone. Service was great. Staff was very friendly. Sea food was fresh. Deep fried food was not greasy. Great view from the second floor of the sound and kite boarding to keep you entertained.would definitely plan to go back again if in the area.

Casual restaurant with live & loud music. Shells in both my crab cakes-not so appealing! Sides ok, nothing special. My husband got the blackened tuna, it was pretty good but sides werent good he said. Gentleman beside us had shells in food as well. Pricey for mediocore food.

While staying on vacation we tried this place. At first very slow getting a table even though we called ahead. Place was busy and waiter tried to keep up and eventually did. The food was great. Nice selection and great taste. I will go back without hesitation.

It was a little difficult to find but we were so glad we took the time to find it. The view was amazing and the food was appropriately priced. And the cherry on top was the view while we ate. Perfect for a small family or a date night.

Its only okay, average seafood. Not a lot of choices, and quite a large price tag for even simple crab cakes. My scallops were undercooked and had to go back. I will try something else next time, no reason to go back.
