I come to Asheville Brewing mostly for the $3 movies but I do also order food and beer to have while watching. I love the decor and while it can get noisy during the film, its still a lot of fun and besides, where else are you going to get a meal like this instead of just overpriced popcorn and candy or a movie less than $10? The service is usually pretty good, friendly staff and the wait for food and drink isnt bad at all while at the bar or seated at a table. The lines to order while in the theater can be painfully slow though so I suggest getting there about a 1/2 hour to 45 minutes early to get that taken care of without a line. Ive sampled a few beers on draft that were decent to meh but there are a few that I choose over most others in Asheville. The Perfect Day IPA is a blast of citrus awesomeness and the Ninja Porter is rich and satisfying. I often drink the Rolands ESB and the Scout Stout too. They have some great specials popping in as well, the Ashevillain was a nice mix of Stout and IPA and the Carolina Special was indeed just that. For food, I have enjoyed the burgers, Royale with Cheese 1/4 lb being my goto, and the fries and onion rings are plentiful and tasty as are the nachos. The pizza however, is hit and miss for the most part. Being from NY, I have been searching for a good equivalent or substitute pizza since I arrived in Asheville 4 years ago.... still on the lookout. AB has a lot of choices for their crust, size and toppings but it seems Ive never had the same quality twice in a row. The toppings are quite expensive but Ive rarely received what I would consider a fair amount for that cost. I also find the pie to be cooked unevenly, with barely melted cheese on one side and burnt and hard on the other. The last two times I ordered single slices, there was only cheese and toppings from the crust to about 1/3 of the way down. Very thin and dry the rest of the way, I almost cut the roof of my mouth with the hard sharp edges. Not a good thing, pizza shouldnt crunch and crack unless youve ordered it with Cheetos on top. I feel for the cost of the pizza, I should be able to expect a pleasurable meal and some consistency. It would be nice. Dont skimp on the toppings when you charge over $2 each(on pies), especially not with the less expensive ones like veggies and extra cheese. Overall, Id say if youre going out to enjoy a movie and some pub food and some great brews and youre not expecting gourmet artisanal fare and fine or fancy decor, youll probably think this place is a ton of fun. If youre just not into the laid back vibes and are looking for something more impressive to look at or eat, go out someplace else before you get here for the show :) Great beer, fun atmosphere, cheap movie tickets. Ill be back again and again

While visiting Asheville we had a serious pizza craving and chose to eat at Asheville Pizza as they were voted to have the best pizza in Asheville for the last 16 years. We were seated outdoors at our choice and placed our order. The extensive list of options was truly amazing: tons of topping options, sauce options, and three crust options! We figured we were in for an amazing pizza. Our pizza arrived at our table and to our surprise the topping quantity was pathetic! Ok, I know some toppings are expensive but we ordered broccoli, garlic slices, black olives, and sun tomato slices. There was basically one piece of each topping on each slice. Now when I pay $2.25 a piece for toppings, especially cheap ones like garlic, broccoli, and olives I expect to get a decent amount of toppings what I got was robbed. The whole wheat crust was great actually the pizza its self, had it just been a cheese pizza, would have garnered a 4 star review, however the cost and then lack of toppings gets this place a 2 star. Additionally our server was horrible she spent more time inside talking to the bar tender, which we observed though the window, than she did waiting on her customers. The only real plus to this place that we noticed is it was extremely dog friendly which is plus in our book but it doesnt make up for topping robbery and bad service.

Feel obligated to leave a review due to the amount of reviews that claim this is a dog friendly place. I stopped by after a day of hiking with my dog wanting to grab something to eat and a couple beers but could not get any service. I waited outside for ten minutes and then decided to step into the front waiting area (far away from any tables) and try and grab a servers attention. It took a few minutes to even be able to do that..and I had to call over to one that was walking by. First thing she said to me was "I am going to have to ask you to take your dog outside." I was like ok that is fine...I am just trying to get someones attention. She then said "ok I will let the bartender know." I went back outside and sat down and waited another 15 minutes before coming to the conclusion that I was not going to recieve any service so got up and left. There is not much outdoor seating (keep that in mind if visiting during busy hours) so I do not know why they can not provide service for people sitting outside. Oh, and there were dog bowls for water outside but nowhere aviailble to fill them and they were completely dry. Hope others have better luck than I did.

Great place to eat, and/or catch a cheap movie. The food here is decent for the price (especially the pizza), or at least better than you might expect for bar food. Typically the movies showing in the theater room are ones that will be widely released for purchase within the next month or so (dont expect new releases), however at $3/ticket it is a good deal, especially if you want the "cinematic experience" of seeing the movie on the big screen. **As a note, APBC is popular with the local university students and may be crowded even during the week. Therefore, it is recommended that you arrive early to purchase movie tickets. You may purchase tickets at any time on the day of the showing, so you may even consider dropping by to pick them up earlier in the day.**

We have eaten several times at the Merrimon location. Food had been okay. This weekend we had the need for a pizza so we ordered the jumbo pizza. It was nearly $22, which would have been fine if it had been a quality purchase however the sauce, cheese and topping stopped 3-4 inches from the edge of the pizza, and were skimpy at best. The crust tasted like cardboard. Hard to believe it was freshly made dough. My spouse who NEVER complains ate about two bites and exclaimed it was the worse pizza he ever had. Now, heres our disclaimer. Were not local, so maybe its one of those local things that only the locals rave about. I dont know. Wish we had order Dominos and saved $10.

The garlic knots were slightly burnt, but definitely not the worst. The pizza on the other hand was awful. It had the absolute worst dough which had the consistency of wet cardboard and no flavor, the sauce taste cheap, and the cheese taste like plastic and over all tasted like a very cheap frozen pizza/school cafeteria pizza. Not to mention waitress was lazy... Place was basically empty yet took quite a while to receive our pizza as we watched multiple to go orders leave with their delivery drivers. Was disappointed because you expect if anything they could get a simple cheese pizza right. Will never be back..
