What an excellent Lunch place! jewel of Himalaya is my favorite place to eat lunch, but it offers much more than that. The location is interesting, in strip mall next to A&P Super market and they re-modeled formerly Metilda, and the result is a hip, modern restaurant in an unexpected location. Himalaya has a great selection of appetizers,(Fresh Home made Dumplings, Momos, Rock Shrimp, few Indian style Samosa and Crab Cakes are a must to try! They serve 2 pcs and enough to share and always delicious!),. The lunch portion is quite big, specially the Nepali Platter which gives you choice of Veg and Non veg with many other interesting stuff including delicious rice pudding, (because thats what I normally order there), are out of this world. They are large and full of appetizing ingredients. The meat and vegetables are always fresh here and the combinations are astonishing. They also have good desserts (Himalayan ice cream, hot apple Pie). However, be prepared that the place is small and it gets quite busy in the evenings.

Ate dinner here over the weekend. First time here with locals who raved about it. We arrived around 7:30pm and it was packed! It was also very chaotic with multiple people taking down the names of those waiting for a table who didnt have a reservation. The very small room with just two benches to sit and wait was very warm and claustrophobic and was a slight discomfort. We ended up waiting nearly an hour for a table but were taken to our table by a very nice man, excellent businessman, as he sat the three of us down and offered us all a complimentary glass of wine for the long wait as well as an appetizer. I have never waited so long at any restaurant before but I will say the food we all ordered and shared was fantastic. Very flavorful and was made to our specifications regarding the heat level as we needed a couple meals at regular and just mild spice. Just make a reservation on weekends! Or go later in the evening so the wait is not as long. Overall I didnt regret trying it out and will go back again

Himalaya is not just Indian food, but also Nepal and Tibet food. This restaurant is tucked below ground and isnt very big so the wait can get long. Luckily we timed it right on a busy Saturday night and waited maybe 15 minutes. We had the veg momo which is a dumping filled with mix vegetable and served with three different chutneys. Never had anything like this before and it was so good. Yummyy we ordered the Nepali Thali with chicken and vegetables and home made noodles, they are all very freshly made and delicious. The food they serve here is outstanding and quality, which is rare here in Westchester specially Indian places. Lovely decoration, nice music, and pleasant seating with wide screen TV.The bathrooms are super clean even it was busy night, the manager seems very knowledgeable of managing this place. we will be back soon, Love the variety of vegan dishes available here and they can make, mild medium and spicy.

Often the highlight of our day will be the dining experience at this restaurant. Suggest that you plan to arrive later so you dont have to wait for a table on weekends. During the week we have been lucky with no waiting. Mr Sherpa is thoughtful, gracious and his wife and cook staff prepare food that is just wonderful. My heart went out to his family when the earthquakes hit his home village and he is a force for helping recovery there. A good man. I bring friends and family here when they visit the area and always the response is the same GREAT FOOD GREAT PLACE. Cant wait to try the lunch specials in Scarsdale when his 2nd restaurant opens soon

We came here once for a graduation party. A friend brought a Ice cream cake, and not only did the staff offer to refrigerate it during our meal, but they brought out plates, utensils, and a knife so we could eat the cake right there. And they didnt even charge us a cutting fee. Wow. Unbelievable service. The man on the floor is also very helpful going through the menus and advised us to order some typical Himalayan food, The Food is Amazing and just as good as our desert. Their curry is not spicy as Indian but more flavor and fresh. We will be going back again with our parent. Thank you Himalaya

We are new to this area. It was the first time we went to this place. I had a reservation at 8pm, we were seated at about 8:20pm. The owner though explained that they accidentally signed us up for the next week. They offered us a free bottle of wine and a free appetizer what was very nice of them. Let me tell you, food was delicious! Every one of us loved it so much! It is the best place we have been to in years. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is looking for a great service and healthy tasty food. Coming back some time soon.

The food and service are Excellent . The prices are fair for the quality you get. We eat or take out there once a week and have never been disappointed, nor have had anything less than an excellent meal. They are also very accommodating if you request "American Spicy" or Himalayan Spicy". Regardless of which you prefer - mild, medium, or spicy - the food shines through and is well balanced. Really good people, and really good food.

Simple elegance (both in decoration and soft music), lovely service (the wait staff was very friendly and attentive), not very noisy at all (I went with a guest on a Monday evening). Appetizers beef Momo (Steamed) and the Rock Shrimp are deliciouse.Main dishes: Lamb Majhini with casew onion sauce always serves NAAN bread ( so good) . Very resonable price great food, terrific atmosphere. Will come again.

Every time I visit this place I enjoy myself thoroughly. The food -- from the succulent Tandoori chicken to the Himalayan Aloo or more spicy dishes -- is carefully prepared. You can have it more spicy if you ask for it. The staff is very responsive and the owner very personable, besides being the guiding force.

Great food!!!!! Everything had such an amazing flavor. A wide selection for vegans/vegetarians. Waitstaff is very friendly, and a very romantic atmosphere. They also have a cool/unique routine for birthdays. Can get extremely busy though, so probably best to make reservations.

Fantastic food. Although Himalayan food might sound a bit exotic, youll love it if you like Indian food. Either way, I think that I had the best lamb vindaloo Ive ever had there. The naan was superb. From what Ive seen from them, you cant go wrong.
