I have never wriiten about a restaurant before but, we just got home from the Sea Basin and I had to comment. Hey Spiro! - The place has crappy food and bad service! I wish I could say something nice...I love your new restaurant "Spyros" ! Its great!! But, the Sea Basin...stinks. We got there at 3:01 and asked for lunch menus to be told that luch is over (3:00) and it cant be changed because of the computers?! What Crap!! For one minute!! Maybe its all the TV shows showing what customer service should be that highlights how bad the customer service was, but...I wanted to go but my wife made me stay (I hate it when she does that...). The free garlic bread tasted good but, was ice cold - frigid garlic bread?...better to have nothing at all. The waiter, a young college-like deer-in-the-headlights person, did not know anything - the specials or the menu, when asked questions about it - good staff training there Spiro! My wife ordered a Margarita with Patron only to be told they didnt have the brand - real classy place there! The first drink was pure alcohol while the second was weak as over-cooked linguini. A good restaurant needs consistency! The lobster bisque was a powered chicken soup base with "fake?" lobster thrown in or if it was real lobster I did know it came in such small specks. My mother, who accompanied us, ordered the Manhattan clam chowder - shes still looking for the clams! Our acerebral waiter was playing with the service computer while a waitress brought out his (our) order because it was ready. This guy didnt even check with the kitchen to see if it was out! If it were up to him wed still be waitin for it! The brolied lunch combo wasnt bad if you like A baked clam with your bread stuffing. The crab stuffing really wasnt too bad. The waiter got confused with our sides (mashed potato, broccoli, pasta, and fried zuchinni) and they all came to different people at different times during the meal. As our little genius was refilling our water glasses he spilled cold water over my wifes lap and gave a quiet "sorry." The pasta I ordered as a side had a sour, metallic-like, off-tasting sauce on it such that I couldnt eat it. Hey Spiro - youre better than this! We ate what we could, finished up, and left. With all the restaurants around here you can be sure that we wont be back to this place again!!...Now "Spyros" is another story; great atmosphere and food. Go there is you can! Its worth it; excellent food and professional service!

Had an early Mothers Day dinner. I think I was a little generous with my rating. Average food, below average service, rediculously high prices. I gave points for the staff being polite. Just another restaurant that jacks up the prices to take advantage of Mothers Day. Its really aggravating to go out on Mothers Day for lunch or dinner these days. Youre better off going to a chain eatery, unless your into the brunch and mimosa scene. My wife said that she went to the Sea Basin website looking for their dinner menu but must have missed their "special" Mothers Day menu. It was a paired down version of their regular dinner menu, but with higher prices for less food. For example, I had a chicken entree for $26 but their regular menus price for the same dish was $19 including soup or salad. A salad with my dinner was an extra $8, costing $34!!! And I got one of the cheaper dishes on the menu. They even added a $1 to the kids dinners; $15 for chicken fingers and fries?!?! The tap water tasted like it was straight from a bathroom sink and the staff only came to our table once to check in. If your gonna charge those prices, you can at least filter the water. Our table was on the upper floor which Im assuming is for catered parties but they only had 5 or 6 tables, so it felt a little awkward. The meal and experience was really disappointing and my wife said shes done going out to restaurants on Mothers Day.

My wife and I went to the Sea Basin the Saturday night before Valentines Day for dinner, all I can say it was fantastic, the salad was fresh, the meals were perfect. My wife had Alaskan King Crab which was sweet like nectar, I had the seafood broiled combo with fresh flounder, stuffed lobster, shrimp and sweet small scallops in a nice wine butter sauce nicely seasoned. All the seafood was fresh, no fish smell here and I am a real fusspot when it comes to seafood. We topped it off with desert with coffee/liquors, my wife had a peach melba and I had the peanut butter/chocolate pie. It was one of the BEST MEALS I have had since moving back to LI and the service was very very good. The prices are more than reasonable and not like some of the over priced shops in Port Jeff Village which should take some lessons from the Sea Basin. I cant wait to go back and try the other Seafood marinara combos and my wife just loves there Alaskan King Crab, five starts +++.

Went here to celebrate with a family outing. The food was ok at best, nothing really special. The entire meal and night out was completely ruined by a waitress who brought our meals out , We asked here what happened to all our salads and soups. She said...Ooops i forgot. She than scrambled to ask if we wanted them now or if we wanted them wrapped up. They were than all squeezed onto table with meals( that again were average at best). What a mess the table was and dining experience !!!! They were all wrapped up,the salads and soups and brought home..No apology from management. If they were even their I have no idea! No other mention or anything was made by anyone their.Just a ruined dining experience!! Thanks Sea Basin,,, Will never go here again I assure you. And will spread the word as revenge for you guys ruining our night out and worse making not one attempt to make situation right !!

I have only been once and can see why it seems to be a popular place... the food was pretty good, prices are fair, and the service was standard. Upon first walking in though, host/hostess was missing for several minutes and although waitstaff would glance over at us, nobody came to greet or help me and my sister for a while. It was a little odd. Then an older couple who came in after us was greeted first, like we werent standing there waiting. It is definitely an older crowd, it seems like there are probably a lot of regular senior folk who are treated well, but as newcomers in our late 20s/30s, we did not feel as welcome.

The service was wonderful. As A result I expected the best. BIG MISTAKE. The lobster buisq was not the classic buisqe. The The stuffed shrimp were 3 tiny shrimp topped with a mountain of over salted I dont know what??? Places like this makes me miss dining in the city.

Old fashioned menu but great food and great service. Somewhat cramped but at a table of 9 its whats to be expected. I had a pork meal that was supposed to be on the bone but there was no bone. But it was delicious. Local grown tomatoes were so ripe and perfect.

Very good food, very good service, comfortable, reliable, Zagat rated, never disappoints. They make the best mussels marinara anywhere. Generous portions. If youre looking for relaxed local ,"fine dining" at reasonable prices , Sea Basin is the place.
