I have not eaten at Edisons or had a drink there. The only reason I looked it up on google maps was I just finished a great book, "The Tender Bar" and I believe this is where the bar that is the subject of the book used to be. Back then (the 70s to the 90s) it was named Dickens then changed into Publicans. (It may have had more incarnations, he writes of the bar as if it were a person, before becoming Edisons Ale House.) Although I cant review Edisons food or service I can highly recommend the book, a memoir by J.R. Moehringer. I liked the book so much Im actually reading it again. So for history and all the stories and enduring all these years Ill give it five stars!

I would have to agree with other here on this review. Potato with Leeks soup was offered today as was a grilled cheese with tomatoes and bacon sandwich. The sandwich was 10 bucks which I ordered anyway.. along with a cup of soup. My neighbor also ordered the grilled cheese, and when everything was brought to our table I was completely forgotten. Rather than wait around for a grilled cheese I said just cancel everything else i ordered. We were basically ignored the entire time we were there even though there was only one other table. These were just my complaints others at the table had their own but I will let them write their reviews.

Publicans is back! Under new management, the former Edisons has re-opened with the iconic Publicans name. The space has been newly remodeled, refurbished, and updated combining many of the existing traditional fixtures with a cleaner, lighter, and more open feel. Our main courses were delicious: the Publicans Burger and braised short ribs. We ate at the bar, where the staff was friendly and attentive. Our beers were cold (nice!), and we noticed a good selection of both regular (nice again!) and craft beers. This will be a regular stop for us.

How hard is it to make a good hamburger? Apparently too hard for the people at Edisons. Poor quality meat on a cheap bun are the secret ingredients at Edisons Ale House. The meat had no flavor and the bun would crumble in your hands. The French Fries were soggy, cold and greasy. For my wifes sandwich you couldnt find a drier, thinner piece of chicken breast. For dessert we had the frozen apple strudel fresh out of the microwave, topped with no-frills ice cream and reddi whip.

Not again. Nope! I got there at 8:36pm. We werent seated until 9:40pm. They claimed they texted me and when I went to show them that they didnt they didnt care. I ordered a burger that took almost an hour to get and I ordered it medium cooked. This burger came out so well done and dry that it crumbled when I bit into it. The bread was soggy from the grease and the fries were cold. They only gave me about ten fries, if that and they were all just crispy tips. Not actual fries.

Overall my experience was very pleasant. The renovations, menu and price points do cater for a particular clientele. I suppose thats one way to distinguish yourselves from other bars in the neighborhood. Generally speaking, the ambiance is comfortable, the menu uses quality ingredients and the service is attentive and casual. These are key elements that make any dining experience worth repeating.

Double charged $178 - management unresponsive Restaurant was called three times and we were promised that the manager would get right back to us. We never received a call!!! In addition, the original amount was increased to $213 to include the tip while never eliminating the original double charge of $178. Horrible customer service. False promises. Never to return.

Had couple of beers and fish and chips. Definitely pub food, but good. Service was excellent. The waitress was personable, funny and straight shooter. The hostess and manager were extremely friendly. They even changed the tv to the channel we requested (go Kincks). Will go back. Live music and a overall welcoming atmosphere

Publicans is back! After extensive renovations and a new chef, management & staff the food and atmosphere are great. After two meals we are huge fans of the roasted chicken, short ribs & the kale salad.

Stupidly over priced. $12 for 6 nothing special wings and $18-19 for a burger you can get anywhere? Why would anyone eat here? Convenient location. But no one can deny that this place is a rip off.

Have been going to Edisons for years. Beer selection is diverse, but always a solid one available. Happy to call it a local weekly habit and look forward to continuing the tradition.

Nice ambiance overall, but it felt like a generic, upscale bar that charges a lot for cocktails that are just OK. Would be nicer if they created a more relaxed atmosphere.
