The view from my dinner table was absolutely stunning at night. Along with the beautiful chandeliers that hung above me and the cocktails that I had already consumed pre-arrival, this place was amazingly beautiful to me. The indoor ambiance is dark, romantic, and trendy (but simplistically so). The lychee martini that I ordered was so so so good! (And Ive had a boatload of different lychee martinis here and there.) It actually might be the best lychee martini Ive ever had compared to TAO. The service was very friendly, and the waiters seemed to know how to serve but also not be too clingy (which I enjoy). If it was based on these two things alone, my rating would be a definite 5 stars. However, the food is mediocre for the price. Although I wouldnt say this place is extremely pricey, I think the quality of the food is just subpar. I had the salmon tartare, chicken satay, chirashi, raw octopus in wasabi, the green curry prawns, and the fried asian noodles. Nothing amazingly impressed me food-wise. Everything tasted as it should taste, but not better. If you ever come here (and I say do come at 9-10ish for the stunning view outside), drink some deliciously shaken lychee martinis, eat some of the appetizers, and soak in the view.

My first trip to New York was with my mother. It was in the 80s and after years of sacrifice, she had finally broken through the glass ceiling. Her job entailed a fair amount of travel, including periodic trips to New York. Wed always traveled as a family, but these trips were something special. Rather than our usual budget accommodations, I got to experience the other side of New York. Doormen and caviar and some truly wonderful restaurants. And while she worked during the day, I was able to wander the streets of New York (what was she thinking?) and go to museums and experience so many different parts of the city. One of restaurants we dined at during those years was The Russian Tea Room. It made such an impression, that I bought a poster from their gift shop and it has hung in all of my rooms, apartments and homes since then. In fact, Im looking at it right now. So when I was planning my most recent trip to New York, it seemed like a good time to revisit history. It is also conveniently located next to Carnegie Hall where we were seeing a performance that night.

Nice venue, service was okay, not bad not good. Calamari was pretty good even though a friend ordered and I tried it. I got a sushi roll (pictured) called "the skinny". It very similar to a rainbow roll with a some roe on the inside. The fish and other seafood on top didnt have a fresh texture to it. Kinda like it had been sitting out for a little while. Inside the roll wasnt as thick as Ive seen other places so the roll had the taste of being a little too "ricy" if that makes sense. I tasted too much rice and not enough of the filling for liking and what Im used too. The lady ordered a drink that was green and had a cherry in it. Forgot the name but it was tasty and sweet. Great beverage for a light drinker Id say and not a seasoned one or if you just want to try a cocktail. Prices not too bad here either. Pretty on particular with what u normally find in New York. Maybe slightly, ever so slightly higher. - Fred

Two of my favorite things, fresh sushi & cute rooftops, and this place has them all. The space is bright and elegant. Came here for my friend Anna Hs early birthday dinner. The food was fresh and the service is very friendly and attentive and they will customize your dish however you wish including the decorations. I ordered the Chirashi which comes with 13 pieces of assorted raw fish (1 piece of Uni included), an egg and pickles over rice, and a choice soup or salad. The Chirashi was very fresh. We also ordered the vegetable tempura and dumplings to share. The price was very reasonable and we got 15% off our bill for being Yelpers. Overall I would definitely recommend and come back again. This place is also cooked food friendly.

Great restaurant with excellent service, and after 9pm it will turn into a bar/lounge where you can dance or just grab a drink. The bartenders are super nice and so are the owners. The food is excellent. For example, the sushi platter may be more than you bargained for, but you will finish it nonetheless because its so good. And the drinks are also delicious. They also have a free coat check, which is great so you dont have to lug a jacket around. Theres also a cool view of NYC skyline from the back of the restaurant. And the best part, its extremely easy and not expensive to get to from NYC by cab or subway, as its right across midtown east. Highly recommended.

Shi Restaurant is a great place to go with friends and family for any special occasion. The interior design is really nice. The prices are affordable and the service is great. If you go during the day you can always walk outside by the water and if you go during night time is even better because you can see the city lights. This is a really great place and the food is always on point. This place is perfect for a family gathering around 12:30PM when they open because you can get the biggest table without having to wait and it makes you feel like if it was a private party.

The restaurant seated my group an hour after reservation. The waiters were rude and would not answer our questions. When we booked the place 3 days in advance we were told we could bring our own cake with no additional charge. When the cake came they said that we would have to pay 2 dollars for each slice of cake an we could not cut it ourselves. When complaining about the issue the manager suggested that we just bring our dinner as well while were at it. And oh yeah; the food was over priced for small portions that had no flavor. Total bullShi.

I truly enjoy Shi' it's like a hidden jem amongst the big buildings. I normally just have sushi because it's always great but tonight I had the General Tso Chicken and I wish I just stayed with my NORMAL choice (sushi). Truly disappointed that their General Tso taste like that of the chinese restaurant in the neighborHOOD (breaded mystery meat)...not good at all. Please don't let that stop you from enjoying Shi' because it won't stop me from going back for SUSHI & drinks.

Visited for an event and left impressed. It was a clear day so we could see the beautiful Manhattan skyline. The venue is large and modern but still manages to feel welcoming. I felt that the bartenders were quick to acknowledge patrons & mix drinks. Nothing I had tasted watered down. I tried some of Shis menu offerings - the bacon-wrapped shrimp tasted like popcorn, the fried wontons were scrumptious and the orange chicken tasted like good takeout. The sushi tasted fresh.

Shi is a Pan-Asian restaurant right by the waterfront in LIC. It has a great outdoor seating area and at night this place transforms into a lounge/clubbing vibe space. They have delicious cocktails and decent Asian food. I have tried their Pumpkin cheesecake and it was great! The bottle of wine was decently priced too compared to NYC. It is definitely a great place for night views and drinks. I would love to return to try their actual dishes.
