I have to say one of the great things about living in NYC is the diversity of food and neighborhoods which you go to in order to find that food and partly the fun of finding a place. Lhasa Fast Food is one of those that maybe on in NYC. Firstly, you have to trek to Jackson Heights and yes that is beyond the borders of Manhattan. In fact it is in Queens. I heard the audible gasp from the Manhattanites. Secondly, for the first timer it is like Magellan’s expedition to the unknown world. The no-frills restaurant is found after following the paper arrow on the door directing you to head behind the mobile shop is like how he must have felt discovering the new world. Excitement, enthusiastic of getting there. The menu is simple posted on the wall once you figure out what each items are. The service is friendly but don’t expect it to be fast. It is casual here. As the Tibetan Proverb, ‘At the bottom of patience is Heaven’ and that holds true here after ordering. Wait until it comes out as you are rewarded with a meal to savor. The food is hearty, comforting and the momos are delicious. Enjoy it.

It was a lot of fun looking for this place! Not difficult to find after doing some research and I arrived just before the crowd. There are 6 small tables, but it seemed like almost everyone that came and crowded into the small place was ordering to go so there was never that feeling youre being rushed or judged for taking your time and eating. One small woman takes care of the entire place and although she was overwhelmed, her memory is very impressive. She didnt write down any of our orders and she told us that the chive and beef momos we wanted had run out and we can wait some time for it. A long time had passed and we were getting ready to go actually when she came and brought the momos that she clearly didnt forget about, it just took a long time to cook! If I lived in the area I would definitely go and get take out all the time, food was delicious, momos were definitely worth the wait and prices are so worth it. But I live pretty far but it was really fun as a one time adventure

Ironically enough, its not fast food. It takes a bit of time to get your order, as it is made on the spot. Its a small restaurant, so it gets crowded very fast and table space is sparse. There is also weak A/C and it gets very humid in there quickly. However the chicken Momo was excellent. The wrapper was a great texture and the meat inside was very juicy. The Tibetan noodles and noodle soup dishes were good portions, but a little less flavorful than one might expect. The waitress was really nice and accommodating. The restaurant overall is definitely worth a visit to try the dumplings.

This is a no frill Tibetan restaurant offering good Tibetan food at a reasonable price. You will find the menu tacked to a wall and if you are new to Tibetan food, then you will be at lost because the menu doesnt offer any description. However if you ask the owner who I believe is the cook as well, he will help you out. So for the foodies who want to try Tibetan food, you will not go wrong with beef dumpling or momo in Tibetan. One thing I like about this place is that they flatten the dough and fill it with whatever fillings you order right then and there and not frozen.

The staff are wonderful, but the momos are just OK (Ive eaten momos nearly everywhere around the neighborhood, these are solidly in the middle -- not bad per se, just far from being the best). Granted, thats the only thing I ordered so Im not judging their other dishes at the moment, Ill be back for those. It does kind of feel like certain other reviewers are enamored mainly because its in the back of a cellphone store and "an adventure to find" (not really...). There, I said it.

Good food, but terrible service. I ordered take-out and was told to come back in 20 minutes. When I came back, theyd forgotten my order. When they finally called me after another 20 minutes, the only person that spoke English had left, and they had to ask me what I ordered. After one of the other customers was able to translate, it turned out theyd forgotten a dish. After waiting another 10 minutes, I gave up and left with half my order.

Ristorante tibetano nascosto nel queens. Non esitate ad entrare, dovete passare dentro a un negozio. Ne vale la pena. Pochi piatti (zuppe, ravioli, noodle) ma buoni.

Despite the name, dont expect the service to be fast. The kitchen looks barely more equipped than a standard apartments. That being said, the Tibetan noodles strike a delicious balance between the richness of the broth and the freshness of the vegetables. The momos are freshly prepared, hefty, and generously spiced.

I heard about this from Anthony Bourdain visit but I didnt believe it could be this good. Firstly, authentic honest to goodness Momos. Like really. Then, the noodles, soups, etc are all good and clearly homemade. The kind of hole in the wall place you dream of finding. Hope they keep up the standards.

The place is tiny and hard to find. It was crowded at a Saturday afternoon. The beef momo was okay but not the best. The server was sweet.

Authentic Himalayan food hidden within the back of a cell phone shop. Pretty much the norm for this neighborhood. Love it.
