It almost feels like youre in a friends basement and his Mom is pouring you heavy handed cocktails while you snack on "party mix" and watch the game. Tip Top is a family-owned, neighborhood bar & grill with a small dance floor, DJs on the weekends, free food (special occasions) and snacks (upon request). The front door is guarded and you have to be let in. Once you break through that tough guy exterior though, youre family. There is a no-frills outdoor space with lawn furniture and a smoker for pigs. If you lean politically right, make sure you dont melt because of all the Obama family portraits/propaganda scattered about. Overall, Tip Top is one of the best bars in this sparse landscape. Just dont expect anything remotely hip, polished, or on tap. Also, no drugs! Youre being watched!

Cool spot with an old school black vibe. The owner sits at the door and checks ID while welcoming everyone in. The bartenders and cooks are very friendly. And there is a jukebox with the best old school Soul and RnB songs. Cool place to visit when you want to chat with some of the old neighborhood, watch a game, listen to some tunes and be surrounded by hospitality.

Pretty silly dive bar. Stopped in here for a quick drink during a random bar crawl, and it felt like I was sitting in some friends crappy old garage with all the junk and crap stored around randomly that youd expect. It was fun though, the bartenders were nice and were happy to chat with some of my tipsy companions.

You might feel like you are walking into a prison bar, if such things existed, but the warm and friendly staff and patrons make you feel right at home. Strong cheap drinks but stay away from the food.

Its classic old school African-American Brooklyn at its finest! Lovely family owned bar, aunties make the food. Hands down the best jukebox in Brooklyn and arguably the entire city!
