I was meeting my girlfriend’s aunt (who raised her) for the first time. The dinner venue was on the high recommendation of her aunt, so on her request, we visited F & J Pine on a Saturday evening. While the food servings are generous, the food itself was just good. And while that may seem fine, it was not when the price point is considered. Now there are plenty of items at reasonable prices, even for NY, but if you or your guests have fancier pallets, or choose a cocktail or two, you can drop a wad. In my case dinner for three with two appetizers, four cocktails and no dessert totaled with tax and tip around $260.00. If the food had been excellent, I would not have blinked at the price, the problem, my meal was far from excellent, part of it was nearly inedible. The appetizers were good, not great, and not worth the price. The rice was a tad bland, but okay the stuffed shrimp and clam were cooked okay, but were just a bit on the soggy side and lacked a bit of flavor. The Filet was perfectly cooked but also seemed in need of some seasoning, these items weren’t bad, just not close to $84 good. The real horrible item was the lobster tail. It was far overcooked. It was rubbery, fibrous, dry, and tasteless and burnt to a char at the top edges. I had to choke it down and even smothered in melted butter (which I never use on lobster), it was barely edible. Now if I was just with my girl, I would have sent that whole meal back in a heartbeat, but since it was my first time meeting her aunt, and her aunt was so enthusiastic about the restaurant, I choked down the food with a smile, not wanting to embarrass her. Bottom line, if the food had been excellent or even very good, I could have tolerated the price. But the quality of the meal wasn’t worth half the price, and when you count in the utterly horrible lobster tail, I almost feel they should have paid me. This is one place I will likely never visit again. I gave it two stars only because of the atmosphere, the friendly staff and the just okay quality of the food. If I just rated on the food quality vs price, I would struggle to get to one star. Both my palate and credit card were terribly disappointed.

I attended a party at this restaurant. I have a pretty severe allergy to Olive Oil. I know this is a difficult allergy to accommodate, so I made the decision to call ahead of time and inform the restaurant of my allergy. When I did, I was given an attitude and told that unless I am the person throwing the party I am unable to make any request. When I told them it was a food allergy, they had no sympathy and told me to have the organizer call. So I did that. The organizer are called ahead of time and informed them of my allergy and I was told it would be taken care of. When I arrived to the party, I reminded the head waiter, along with the party organizer of my allergy. I was assured that I would get a piece of grilled chicken and steamed vegetables without olive oil. When my food came, it seemed oily. I tasted a vegetable and immediately got sick. When is a waiter if this dish had olive oil in it, they told me yes. I explained the story to them and told them that I had an allergy, and they told me sorry, and said there was nothing else they could do. I simply asked for a piece of grilled chicken with no olive oil in it but any other type of oil would be fine!, and they said they would look into it. An hour later, a waiter came by, looked at my untouched plate, and asked why I didnt eat it. At this point my frustration was clear, and I reminded them for the 5th time about my allergy. He told me he would be right back with something and never returned. I paid for a meal, made prior arrangements for my allergy, and was completely brushed off. I understand that this is something difficult to accommodate, and I am even at the point where I carry around coconut oil in my purse when restaurants have trouble cooking without olive oil. My issue is that I was assured it would not be a problem, and it was, and I got sick, and no one at the restaurant took the time to try to fix the problem or take it seriously. Ive been to many many restaurants with this allergy, and have never been treated with such blatant disregard. I will never attend this restaurant again, and if you have any specific dietary restrictions, do not even consider this place.

Firstly, my family and I have been going to Frankie & Johnnys since before I was born. All through my childhood we celebrated birthdays, graduations, I even had my mothers FDNY graduation party, my wedding dinner and my goodbye party here before I moved out of state. The place is beautiful and the food was always delicious. About two months ago, since its my moms favorite place, I called to set up a surprise party for my moms birthday. I called several times before I even got the info I needed emailed to me. Finally when I did, a few weeks later, I emailed back what I needed and if I could have a quote and contract drawn up and sent to me (I live out of state). I had two different people, Danielle Velez and an Edwin or Eddie I believe, promise to get back to me. Never did. Emails never returned. When I told my family we couldnt do it there because they apparently didnt want our money, they insisted. My grandfather reached out for a week and a half trying to get them to call me back! When they finally did, the "manager" Ms. Velez, was very rude and snippy to me. Instead of apologizing, she basically called me a liar and told me they were unavailable for that day. I am so unbelievably disappointed. I dont know what happened to this place, but I can assure you my family and I will never bother them with our business again.

This review is solely for the catering side. We did not done in at the restaurant but WOULD after my experience today. This was my first time here and it was for an engagement party in the downstairs catering room. We were about 40 people and fit comfortably. The room was equipped with a large flat screen TV and an easy A/V plug for music and multimedia. The staff was attentive and very polite. They were omnipresent and incredibly personable. Management seems to really care about the guests and Eddie came down multiple times to ensure everything was attended to properly. We had a brunch buffet which included fresh made waffles as well as savory dishes including a pasta and chicken. All were very good. The potato croquettes was close to perfect and I love potato croquettes. My recommendation is that you are reading this and considering F&J for your next event, come in and speak with them. I doubt youll be disappointed. I saw at least 6 different locations of varying sizes for parties inside and outside. It seems that they have something for everyone and the different venues are not on top of each other which is nice. We had an excellent experience here. 90
