They lost 2 influential customers tonight. If this is award-winning, the award is for CHUTZPAH. Inflated prices for so-so food, pretentiously presented wine, and incredibly a $20 CORKING FEE!!! Let me repeat that - a TWENTY DOLLAR CORKING FEE. When my companion courteously complained to the owner, he was told, "We have our own Montrachets in stock here, and thats our policy" - petty snobbery and greed laid out bare. I made the mistake of suggesting this venue for my birthday meal (because its a convenient drive), and their offering was a scoop of ice cream with a cheap candle stuck atop, and the waitress demurral that she "cant sing." If you want to get fleeced for a noisy, cramped cattle feed, this is the place. There are much better choices in the area.

Went to one53 for my 64 th birthday a treat from my daughter and her husband, the food was good, the service was good the damper for the evening was the cost of the wine that was outrageously overpriced. I guess being part of Princeton they feel its justified but for wine lovers you definitely get the feeling they are taking even more advantage of their patrons then they are the menu prices, The seating is very tight, the place is not kid friendly as you feel they do not want kids. Unless you have an unlimited amount of cash I would go somewhere else. Ruined the day knowing they were paying such a large sum for a so so dinner.

Excellent food that well worth the price! This is my "go to" for special occasions, or if I want a nice place to take out of town visitors. The service is impeccable, the food is innovative without being pretentious, and the drinks are perfectly mixed. I have never been disappointed by their seasonal specials, and the Short Rib Bolognese with Ricotta over Papardelle, from their established menu, is consistently great. Ending the meal with desert and a drink is always a good decision. I suggest trying their cheese cake and a glass of Tawny port!

My wife and I have been here several times. The food is always delicious but most recently we had a poor service experience. Wine glasses were taken away without asking if wed like anything more, coffee wasnt put in even after specifically asking if wed like some. The check was brought before we asked for it and the plates were being cleaned while we were in the middle of handling the bill. We felt rushed out of the door and unappreciated. This is why we prefer to sit at the bar, to know the person serving us cares.

Gastropub/bistro. Good for date or meet for drinks. Nice resto but they fill the tables so it gets a bit cramped. You could listen to the peoples conversation next to you. Menu changes according to whats in season. Food and quality are good but prices just a tad high. They have lunch on Thurs and Fridays only. Big party room downstairs if main floor is full. Nice wine section and they do have specials (check their website) on the wines.

A great special occasion place. The double cut pork chop is the best I have ever eaten. The waiters are extremely knowledgeable - the one serving us even knew where exactly the vodka in my martini was from and who makes it, and knew that the olives were made by the same company. Great selection of wines and there is a great 50% off on bottles deal on certain nights of the week. A must try if youre in the area.

If you like a waiter that uses the first person plural when addressing the table, as in "Would we like bottled water?" this is your place. Otherwise the food was boring, very rich but lacking flavor. Had lunch there and ate one of the pasta dishes. Even though the serving was of modest size I was wishing for a salad, a piece of bread, or even a second glass of water to wash it down. Service was so so.

Good lord, where to start. If I had to recommend only one dish, itd have to be the escargot. Whether you like escargot or not, you must try it. I dont think weve ever actually had anything bad, food is top-notch and fairly priced. Service was excellent if not a bit slow, we went on a Monday night for frame of reference. You cant go wrong at One 53.

Completely overrated. Went once after the hipsters and hipster wannabes in town talked about it being like a NY restaurant right in tow. Appetizers were pretty good, but entrees were average and so was the service. If youre more interested in being seen than having a good meal, by all means, dress in your designer duds and head on down to 153.

Intelligent, creative plates that respect the changing of the seasons. Bartenders, and the drink menu served, outstanding. Its evident, year after year, this place honors its New American pedigree, while never resting on the reputation of its past excellence. An exceptional restaurant.
