Though the painted door maybe nearly impossible to find among the 4 others that dont open, the inside is far bigger than expected and has a huge bar. It is obviously popular with locals as it was surprisingly packed on a Wednesday afternoon when the temperature was below freezing. Service was friendly, though very slow and I had to pay at the bar after waiting 15 minutes for the waitress to come for the bill. Prices were also on the high side for pub food and nothing was spectacular and the fries were very bland. The French onion soup was lacking flavor though the chicken sandwich was good. At least the Guinness was poured well and tasty.

This is a perfect spot for all the students from nearby Rutgers and NJIT campuses. If one taking is taking train then this place is at 15-20 mins walk from the Newark station or one can also catch a bus or shared cab to this place. I was here on a Thursday evening to meet some of my friends. From outside this place looks like a big warehouse. But when one walks in, one realizes this place is huge and is divided into two different sections. They carry an exhaustive menu when it comes to food and drinks. Overall its a nice place to hang out with friends.

I go to McGoverns about once a week after evening classes. Its Irish, fun and casual, the music is good, plenty of seating, clean bathrooms, and the food is served until late. The bartenders are great; they always make my mixed drinks perfectly. Moe, especially, offers great customer service. As soon as he sees me, he gets me a Corona with lime. The food is okay, prices are okay but they serve until really late which is awesome because almost everything else closes early in the Academy area.

4 hour layover at Penn station,perfect spot to charge Phone and avoid hockey traffic. menu looks super affordable too! Hard to find tho, had to sneak in the back door as it is in a gated univ parking lot... Looks Mexican painted from outside too, but my intuition paid off, I have like a livings room of space to myself and a lovely server

Great dive bar with the most amazing LAVA FRIES! Service couldve been better the afternoon we were there but the waitress said she was the only one working that day so when it got busy we were waiting a long time. Would still recommend.

Huge selection on draft, the best service Ive experienced at a bar, reasonably priced menu for food, great environment, and free wifi to boot. Great place. Earned a stop from me each time when I traveling through. Have been 10+ times.

Love LOVE LOVE this bar! Wish I could pick it up and move it back to WI, great selection of beer, was not overly crowded, staff was very friendly and they gave us some tips on what taverns to hit up while we were in town.

You really cant beat McGovs. Great drinks, the bartenders always remember you after your first drink, and the food is great. Theres a reason this is a staple bar of both Rutgers and NJIT.
