The reason I gave any stars was for 1 of the 2 entrees. The chicken Marsala was perfect. The reason I am only giving this place 2 stars is for the following reasons: All the tables that were "cleaned" around us still had pieces of food on them. There were dirty napkins under our table, and not picked up once they were moved to the aisle. The main part of this review has to do with how terrible the SEARED mahi was. It was even burned. Fully cooked through, and burned on the bottom. Not seared. So when the manager came by our table to ask how it was we told him the issue. Clearly did not eat the dish, and he corrected us that the mahi should be cooked the way it was (burned), and stood there awkwardly when we informed him of what seared meant, then told us to "have a good one", and walked away. Our waitress after that point did not refill our drinks, or ask how things were, but checked on every other table in her section. She did however manage to make her way to our table to give us the bill with the dish that was burned, and not eaten still on the check. This was around 8pm on 5/16. Our first night of living in Bozeman, and first restaurant we thought we would try. Our waitress had shoulder length brown hair with a nose ring. The manager has really short dark hair, and was in his 30s. We didnt get their names.

I gave them 3 stars because the service was excellent. Our server was friendly and helpful, and when they had run out of baked potatoes, they apologized and offered us either free drinks or free desserts. So top marks for the service. However, the food was not at the same level. We had French onion soup (the best thing we had, but too salty), a bison burger (ordered medium, but it was burned on the outside and overcooked on the inside, very dry - gotta be careful with bison), and bay shrimp fresca pasta (not bad, but not that great. It needed some more flavor and less salt). For dessert, we had a cheesecake (Sara Lee quality) and creme brule (not bad, but kind of plain). So atmosphere and service were great, food not so much.

Horrible experience... never had a issue with bay bar and grill till last night. My wife called for a carry out ordered our food she said about twenty mins and it will be ready. When I went to pick up our meals nobody knew what happened to it or it didnt even get ringed up than we had to wait another twenty mins for our food they almost mess up on again plus it wasnt even busy inside the resterant. We called ahead so it would be fast this was a hassle! Than they rushed the order so fast our steamed veggies were hard as a rock so we couldnt eat them. It was disgusting. Im never eating here again. Bad service. I cant believe we paid for that nasty food!!!!!! Horrible service and bad food what a combo.

Horrible!!! Service was extremely bad. Ordered appetizer and after 35 minutes had to wave down server. He said he was checking on it.... as the waiter was delivering food to another table next to us he leaned over with the other tables food and asked if we just wanted to cancel the order!? We asked to speak to the manager and he pointed at a man that was at another table and sarcastically said"hes busy with others and wont be available for about 10 minutes! Whe waved manager over and he said he was at a loss for an explanation but would speak to the waiter. This is my first ever review of a restaurant but unfortunately my last dining at The Bay!!

This restaurant is SO inconsistent I dont want to go there. Sometimes I go there and the food is GREAT, sometimes its terrible. It never EVER tastes the same. I believe they change their recipes for regular menu items just about as often as they change their menu! Sometimes they give you bread, sometimes you have to ask for it. Their menu seems to change about every week. Some of my favorite items have gone off the menu then they come back 6 months later. I dont know what is going on with this place but they need to get their act together. Service is decent.

Went to the Bay last night. I ordered the "special"... Halibut stuffed with crab. Halibut was overcooked and dry and the "crab", while it might have resembled crab in some parallel universe, on this planet could essentially be considered nothing more than seasoned bread. I believe it likely the "special" was some pre-prepared, frozen meal purchased in bulk. It certainly tasted like it. As one reviewer said, The Bay is not consistent... been going on and off for 14 years. The Fajitas are good however...

I love The Bay. Im not a regular but Im comfortable there as if I was. Ive gotten consistently excellent service there for years. I like the lighting and atmosphere. My wife and I enjoy getting margaritas there although the same margarita can taste different in the same night and very likely will taste different on different nights. Though out of 100+ margaritas Ive only returned one. Some of their food is great, some just good. Bottom line is I enjoy going there and have for many years.

the bay used to be a solid choice for lunch or dinner in bozemans limited restaurant scene but that seems to no longer be. with the newest revision of their menu, prices are no longer tenable and the selection is limited to rich, and often difficult dishes. unfortunately for them though, they werent able to master the difficulty and the food suffered. an 80 dollar meal for two when the duck is dry and the calamari crusty is a bit hard to swallow.

wait was forever long to get in. we were told they would call us when table was ready if we wanted to walk around mall. it was only going to be 15 min. They never did and went to check back after 30 min. Took over an hour to get food. They lost our ticket. Wasnt that great. Only gave us a small discount for our trouble and manager never came over. Would never go again!

This place has either gone down-hill, or new restaurants in town are raising my standards. I ordered the crab cakes, but they were not crab cakes. I dont think they had any crab in them, and from the taste not any imitation crab either. Really bland. Another time we went, the service was poor, and I keep hearing the same from my friends too.

No one came to greet..no one came to take a drink order until I requested it from a 3rd person....food was fit for my dog. Opaque bacon wrapped around 2 rubbery shrimp, ugh Internet was down so I had to wait a long time just to pay and get the hell out of thetree. Terrible experience.

Service sucks, had to wait at least 20 minutes to order, not even busy at all, the bartender had to come over and take the order, and than had to walk up to the bar to get our ticket and a to go box, they use to be awesome! Not so much now, wont go back! :( bummer

The place was packed. Our waitress "JOY" was a joy. She never missed a step and was right on with our food. Yummy food and the restaurant was clean and had a good feeling about it. We have eaten here often and never walk away unhappy with food or service.
