So, the waitress was really nice up front. The food that I got was somewhat cold..but it did have a good taste. The problem was we went in about 8:30 and at exactly 9 pm, they started to vacuum the other side of the restaurant. (which was only somewhat annoying). Then around 9:05/9:10 they came and vacuumed right beside our table as we were just finishing up our food. There was no reason for this. Someone should be able to walk into the door at 8:59 and get the same service as someone who came in any other time of the day. Then, when we realized that we were being rushed out, we got up to pay. We then WAITED for someone to come check us out as another lady was putting away menus and such and didnt even acknowledge us. so we then had to WAIT to check out until someone came up from the back. Ridiculous.

I am so glad that after 35 years someone has finally put a decent restaurant on the North Side. I usually go to South Springfield, or the Square to eat, but the prices take a bite out of my wallet at those places. For the money, this is a nice atmosphere, huge selection of food (I think I saw 10 different salads), and nice waitresses. For those who complained about the time it takes for service, you need to go back to eating at McDonalds, because properly prepared food always takes longer than stuff that was made days earlier and then frozen, so it can be nuked on a moments notice. Ive eaten at the Cedars for forty years, and their greasy and low quality meats and canned veggies dont even come close. But they are fast, if thats what youre looking for.

When you eat here, get the Skillets. Its what they do well. The more "adventurous" menu items are definitely tailored to a Midwestern palate.. eg bland and or uninspiring. But the Skillets, some of the breakfast menu, and occasionally a burger or Ruben is nearly always good here. Order issues do happen however they fix them quickly. The staff is generally great with customer service. Tony will usually great and seat you. He the go to guy. The owner makes everyone nervous and make things run less than smoothly when hes on premises, He really should stay home and let the staff do what they do best. Great place to come for a weekend sit down breakfast.

Poor customer service. We ordered 2 waters, and the server came back to ask us if we asked for water. Also, my burger came out and she told us the fries were not done cooking. She brought the fries out soon after, but they were not cooked very well at all. Overall, the food was not great. The biscuits and gravy were bad, and the hash browns were burnt. We will not return.

Food is good but the service sucks. Waited at the front for like 5 min before I finally asked a man with a mustache running from the kitchen to the front if I can just seat myself which he said yes and just waved me off. I have now waited 20 min for a refill which she said she was bringing when she brought my food. So dissatisfied with the horrendous service

Food is always good here, service this time was great. Thank you Laura! We have always enjoyed the food and service here....last time we were here..we swore we would never come back..waitress was very rude and service was awful! The smoked pork chops lured us back. They are so good! We are glad to know we can ask for another server!

Well was really disappointed got the ozarks breakfast and the potatoes were cold the meat was lukewarm at best ate here one other time food was really good had walleye that time no complaints that time dont know if I would recommend this place might have to go back to cedars

I came very very close to leaving. I stood at the Please Wait to be Seated sign for close to five minutes waiting to be Seated. All the ladies looked my way and turned away. I know I am not the best looking customer but I am there to eat only.

They close at 9 we went to eat at 7:30 The waitress made a huge scene not wanting to wait on us cause she wanted to clean up to leave was treated horribly by her, had to move to different table to get someone to agree to wait on us

I had a ranch chicken wrap off the lunch special. Wow, tasted great and it was hugh. The host and cashier is fast and very pleasant. The waitress checked on us and our meal and seem nice but very busy. I will return soon.

Drive thru speaker is terrible. They regularly cannot hear you, and ask you to pull up to the window. This is fine, except today they never *came* to the window! Otherwise its fine. The fried foods are super greasy though.

Nowhere near fancy dining, and the street access is a pain, but the food is reasonably priced for portion sizes. Unlimited coffee and hearty entrees are the selling points here, though they make decent pies as well.

After all we had heard, I guess I was expecting something more. I had a gyro sandwich which was mediocre at best. The place was clean, and the waitress was nice, but, not a good enough place to warrant a repeat.

Excellent service, great food, very clean, omelets are massive, could easily be shared, a lot of food for the money, delightful atmosphere, opens early and never feels rushed. Love this place!

The service and food are both very good, the portions are large enough for two. The only downside is like any other restaurant they get screaming kids but the layout helps quiet it down.

The service is great, the food is great and the atmosphere is great. The Pork Tenderloin sandwich is out of this world. They also specialize in breakfast. You just cant go wrong.
