So I just had the absolute WORSE experience at my favorite restaurant that I have been going to since I was a baby........ And so has my entire family! My best friend and I went to eat dinner tonight at Ruiz Mexican Restaurant, and we were sitting at our table in the middle of our dinner and a group of people came in that were talking about how they had a reservation and I guess they didnt have them down so they started complaining... Which I would have too probably..... So next thing we know a few people in the group started staring at us to the point one came around the corner and literally just looked at us like would you hurry upppp... So i was like ummmm reallyyyyy.....rudeeeee! Then a guy comes up and literally leans on the post at the entrance of the main lobby where we were at and crossed his arms and legs leaning and just kept looking at us..... They kept looking into the window ...... Etc. So rude!!!!!! So THENNNNN to top it offfff.... Three people(not even a manager) came up to our table and literally asked us if we would move to a different table because they had a group of people wanting to sit where we were at!!!!!!!!!! Reallllllllllyyyyyyy!!!!!!!! Oh we will give you an ice cream if u move! I have never in my 40 years of living had anyone at an establishment ask me to move while trying to enjoy my dinner! They couldnt have waited 10 more minutes for us to finish? Who does this?????? Needless to say and so sorry I have to say it but I will never in my life walk into Ruiz Mexican Restaurant EVER! I DIDNT EVEN FINISH MY MEAL! AND THEY CHARGED US!!!!!! Wth

Ruiz has always been a restaurant that I drove past, but was always reluctant to go simply because of the volume of cars in their parking lot. Fears of long wait times always kept me away. Then one night, based on a friends glowing recommendation, I decided to try Ruiz... WOW... This place has the most amazing food! Everything I have tried has been overflowing with flavor. I am normally the type of person that finds a couple things I like at a restaurant and then always get them when I go there, but I simply cannot find my favorite dish at Ruiz. …Its all so good. For the food, I would say the price is worth it, but you are going to spend a little more than your chain sit down restaurants. (my average has been about $15 / person without drinks) The atmosphere is very clean and simple, not a ton of goofy crap on the walls, just a nice dining experience. Another feature of Ruiz is the bar verses dining area. You can choose to sit down and have a quiet dinner, or enjoy some great food with a ton of screaming Blues fans. Either way, Ruiz accommodates. … Oh, and the packed parking lot that scared me off for years… optical illusion. Ruiz has so much room inside that when I go (around 8 pm) I have not had to wait for a table yet.

Having eaten here for years, I must say that the place isnt the most fancy, and the menu isnt the most extensive, but the food that they create is always very delicious and not Tex-Mex. So if you want colorful plates, and colorful food, try elsewhere. If you want some very taste authentic mexican food, this is really pretty good food. The atmosphere is family freindly with a seperate bar from the non-smoking dining room, which is really nice. Sometimes the waiters and waitresses get busy, as what happens in all good restaurants, but you will get your food and you will like it! I love to go for annivesaries and birthdays, as I am going tonight! Join their "Frequent Diners Club" and get rebates, special offers, etc. Just some of the nice extras for loyal customers. I have eaten at several other north county mexican restaurants, once, and I always prefer Ruiz up in Florissant, hands down. They are family owned and operated, and they truly care about their customer base! Mike McManus

Ruiz has been our favorite restaurant for around 40 years. People we have taken there have raved about their tamales and other entrees. My wife loves their nachos and chicken taco salads. Red salsa is excellent and be sure to ask for the green salsa if you prefer it hotter. As for me, although I always enjoy trying something new, I have tunnel vision when it comes to Ruiz. As long as Ive been going there I only order one thing...beef enchiladas. The reason is simple. They are the best I have ever had any where in the U.S. or in Mexico. Unlike most other restaurants, the deliciously chunky beef is served on top of the enchilada which is filled with stretchy cheese, onions, and I only wish I knew what all the other flavors were!. The refried beans and rice are also outstanding and everything is always served fresh and very hot temperature wise. For those who worry about such things, the food is very mild until the salsas are added.

What can i say about RUIZ that hasn`t alread been said, but let me try ............ If you`re looking for a great place to eat while you`re in north county, then look no farther, because you`ve found it right here in beautiful Florissant. RUIZ is family owned and operated with the key word being " Family ". We`ve been coming to RUIZ for as long as i can remember and have always been treated and greeted like family. They have great food, warm chips and salsa, ice cold drinks, affordable prices and warm and friendly servers to help with anything you might need. They`ve recently added 2 family seating areas and remodeled their bar side to take care of your party needs. We`ve used them on many occassions for birthdays and family get togethers. So, the next time you`re thinking about where to eat Great Mexican food or where to have your party, maybe give them a try, i think you`ll be glad that you did.

Fajitas: If you USED to get fajitas at Ruiz Mexican Restaurant in Florissant, Missouri on a sizzling iron skillet, you will (probably) now be disappointed. The reason for the "probably" is, "I thought my steak fajitas that I ordered would be served on a sizzling iron skillet!?" "Sorry, sir, sometimes they are, and sometimes they are not!" Huh?!? Well, the new menu no longer says that they are, so I guess I cant complain too much. These steak fajitas are $18, and just about identical to steak discada, but the steak discada also has chorizo and bacon added, AND its only $15! I guess I will never again order any fajitas at Ruiz... Sigh!! Next time my wife and I go, I am actually going to eat BEFORE I go, and drink just ice water and eat free chips and salsa.

So disappointed in my experience yesterday. The server (some older Mexican lady) was outright rude. My friend ordered one taco, and she told her that she had to buy a plate of 3 to 4. I ordered my daughter chicken rings, noticed she wasnt eating them - I tried one and they smelled and tasted awful and the meat inside of them was dull grey. You had better thank God she didnt get sick from it. My date asked the server to take the rings off the bill, she said she would but failed to do so, therefore I reduced her tip by the amount of the dish. Ive been visiting Ruiz for the past 20 years, and always on my birthday. Ive found your quality and standards have deteriorated. You have lost a customer.
