On December 9, 2016 my mother and I went to eat dinner here at about 830pm. They only had about 10 total customers including us so not busy at all. That night they said they closed at 10pm. Well just so it is clear this was our 3rd time eating at the florissant location. Well the first thing we had problems with was there was hardly any food in the pans and we had to keep asking for food. The chicken had been on the steam table so long you couldnt even bite into it.. then others started to complain as well because most of the food on the steam table was Luke warm at best .....hold on here comes the best part and I pray after reading this NO ONE eats there again for HEALTH AND SAFETY REASONS. NEXT AS ONE OLDER LADY IS GETTING THE FOOD BAR TOGETHER BY ADDING MORE FRESH ITEMS SHE SNEEZED. SHE SNEEZED INTO THE PAN OF MUSHROOMS AND THEN WIPED HER NOSE WITH SAME TOWEL SHE WAS WIPING DOWN THE BUFFET WITH.....OH BY THE WAY I WANT TO BE CLEAR OUR SEATS ARE RIGHT NEXT TO THE BUFFET IN A BOOTH IN THE BACK ON THE RIGHT HAND SIDE. WHEN THAT HAPPENED RIGHT IN MY FACE I SAID OH HELL NO!!!!!!! I STARTED WAVING TO CALL OVER THE STAFF TO TELL THEM WHAT THE WOMAN HAD JUST DID BUT BEFORE I COULD GET ANYONE ATTENTION I COULDNT BELIEVE WHAT HAPPENED NEXT...THE SAME WOMAN AS SHE PROCEEDED TO WALK BACK IN THE KITCHEN RIGHT AT THE ENTRY DOOR WAS A BIG TRASH CAN WITH THE ORIENTAL CURTAINS PULLED OPEN SO I COULD SEE RIGHT INTO THE DOORWAY. SHE SNEEZES AGAIN AND STOPS AND LEANS OVER THE TRASH CAN AND CLOSES ON SIDE OF HER NOSE WITH HER HAND AND BLOWS SNOT INTO THE TRASH CAN AND THEN HACKS UP NASTY COLD FROM HER THROAT AND IT WAS LOUD AND SPITS INTO THE TRASH CAN. AT THAT TIME MY MOM SAID I KNOW I DIDNT JUST HEAR WHAT I THINK I HEARD. I SAID THAT NASTY WOMAN ( I WANT TO POINT OUT IM FACING TOWARD THE BACK WALL SO I SEE EVERYONE ENTERING AND LOVING THE KITCHEN...AND MY MOM IS FACING ME SO SHE IS LOOKING TOWARD THE FRONT OF THE RESTAURANT). SO I STOOD UP AND SAID YES THAT IS WHAT YOU HEARD AND WHAT I JUST WITNESSED. I WAS PASSED AND SICK AND WE GOT UP AND WALKED TO THE DOOR TO LEAVE AND JUST SO YOU KNOW THIS ALL HAPPENED WITHIN LIKE 25-30 MINUTES BUT WE HADNT REALLY HAD ANYTHING TO EAT BECAUSE WE WERE WAITING ON HOT FRESH ITEMS LIKE THE FRIED CHICKEN..... so we are now at the counter talking to the person in charge and let me say I was so disguised I WAS SCREAMING AT THEM AND I LET EVERYONE THAT WAS STILL EATING THEY SHOULD LEAVE THIS NASTY PLACE. THE PERSON IN CHARGE WAS SHOCKED WHEN SHE HAD HER TELL WHAT HAPPENED BECAUSE I DESCRIBED IT ALL IN DETAIL AND THEN SHE SAID WHICH WOMAN WAS IT AND I POINTED HER OUT...I TOLD THEM THEY NEEDED TO CLOSE THE DAMN DOORS AND THAT THE HEALTH AND SAFETY DEPARTMENT SHOULD CLOSE THEM DOWN. IM TELLING ALL THIS IS A MAJOR HEALTH ISSUE DONT EAT THERE YOU WILL BE SORRY. I KNOW THIS COULD ALL GO ON AT ANY PLACE BEHIND THE SCENES BUT DAMN TO ACTUALLY SEE IT NOT JUST HEAR IT WAS THE WORST THING EVER.....THEY PLEADED WITH ME BY THE WAY NOT TO POST THIS AND I LAUGHED AND SAID THIS MUST BE A JOKE. ONLY ONE MAN CAME UP AND SAID IM SO SORRY AND WE WALKED OUT. I WANT TO ALSO POINT OUT THAT THIS IS A VERY CALM VERSION. OF THAT NIGHTS EVENTS... 1. You cannot get your table until everyone is arrived: No matter how many people in your parties, you have to have them all presents to get your seats, so if you have 10 persons, but you got only 8 arrived, sorry, you have to wait until everyone arrived the reception to get your tables. 2. Kids price charging by their height: No like other buffet in St. Louis, kid price is not base on on their age but on their height. ~ Kids on any age over 36" and under 55", they charge $6.99 each, My daughter only 5 years but, but still need to pay $6.99 to eat (for this price, I prefer to go to Sushi Ai), but she didnt eat much because she is only 5 and nothing good to eat. ~ Kids on any age over 55" have to pay as an adult. My friends daughter who is 10 years old but 56" tall, need to pay $12.99. So even your kid is only 10 years old but he/she over 55", your will be charged for 1 adult buffet for your kid. 3. Crab Legs is extra: If you want to eat Crab Legs, you have to pay extra, they have a sign at the reception area, "Crab Legs extra $3 per person". 4. No separate checks for parties more than 12 person: The Manage explained that their computer system cannot do separate checks. 5. Foods: Salad bar ~ Not too bad, common choices plus some Seaweed Salad, Korean Kimchi. Soup ~ Four choices, I think they are good because one of them is empty that I couldnt get any to try, their clam chowder is good. Sushi ~ Many choices and taste alright, they claimed as a Japanese Restaurant but the sushi is just alright. Asia dishes ~ Common choices as most small size Chinese buffet restaurant, their food quality is the worst in St. Louis, for the same choices (except Sushi), I would prefer eating at New China Buffet located at St. Charles Rock Road. Mongolian BBQ ~ I havent try their Mongolian BBQ, but they do have some cooked BBQ items serving at the counter, I picked BBQ chicken and something I dont remember, but I cant finish them as they taste really bad. 6. Services: Waitresses are nice, willing to help us separate the checks manually as we have 4 families in our party, even the system cannot do it. How hard it is? It just depends how the waitress write make the check. We have 18 people in total, they dont have a big table for all of us, so we seated on 3 separated tables but next to each. Theres no different we are 4 in a party or 18 in a party. But their sign showing at the reception area do make you sad before you get it. Sushi Bar stopped provide fresh make sushi 1 hour before the restaurant closed: The restaurant close at 9:00 pm but the Sushi Bar started clean up at 8:00pm. Mongolian BBQ stopped service at 8:00pm too, they also started clean up at 8:00pm. We talked to the Manager and suggested what they should do, but my friends and my family will not visit this Hokkaido Steak & Sushi Buffet in the near future until they make it better.

My issues started at the "Please wait to be seated" sign. After waiting for 10min, I thought maybe it was packed or something. I go in and half the place is empty. My "Host" just pointed me to a seat and then walked away. He didnt tell me to help myself, or say my server will be with me shortly or anything.. so I sat. Apparently, he did not let any of the servers know I was there or hand off my ticket to anyone. So, I sat.. another 10 min I stopped one of the server and asked if she knew who my server was, she had no idea but asked what I wanted to drink and said I could help myself. Fine. My only complaint about the food was that most of the stuff I got was cold and there was no signs to identify the sushi.. so if you cant tell what it is, its trial and error. Obviously the lady I spoke to completely forgot about me because after 2 plates, I still had no drink. At that point, I seriously thought about walking out without paying.. I mean hell, apparently I was not even there. I finally got another servers attention and got my drink and she became my waitress for the last 5min of my meal.. the brownie and soda, yay me. The only positive I have about that place was that the atmosphere was nice. It looks like a nice place for a group meal, if the re-train their hostesses. IF I go back.. and thats a big IF, hopefully it wont be as bad.
