I would like to give this place no stars! The first time I ate there it was okay, second time the cheese dip taste like it had dog food in it. Pretty even with Taco Bells cheapest meat then the server placed my order wrong. Varified the dish I ordered with me after I had mentioned it was wrong she tried convincing me that I ordered the wrong dish. When my husband spoke with the manager the server told the manager I ordered the one she wrote down which was not the one I ordered nor the one she verified with me. When she took our order she didnt write anything down so I dont know when she wrote that down. I ordered a large margarita and I can guarantee there was barely any tequila in that. For somebody who never drinks I expected to at least have felt a little bit like I had a drink. My husbands order was completely wrong. Then when we spoke with the manager she acted like she really didnt care it seemed as if we were a nuisance and they just one of their customers out. All-in-all I waited 2 months for that date spent almost $70 and food that tasted like canned dog food and not even what I ordered. We also had a two year old never once offered a high chair needed a spoon so he could eat but the server was nowhere to be found. Personally I would have given her a $2 tip maybe four went on all she didnt deserve one at all but my husband was generous and he was the most upset since hes the one that likes Mexican food.

I dont know why anybody says this is a good authentic mexican restaurant. We ordered the #1, burrito supreme, and the ranchos huevos. The complimentary salsa was tomato water with a little flavor. The only way we could taste it was by finding a chip that had a way to scoop it. A flat chip dipped into the salsa was like dunking a cookie into milk. The ground beef in the taco and burrito supreme was also unflavorful and water logged. The waitress first took our order, came back and delivered our order and that was the only time we saw her. We had a gentleman that came by our table and asked how everything was, but we had just received our plates. As we asked for the check that was when they noticed that the air conditioner was turned off and the lights hadnt been turned on. The restaurant is very dark. No blinds were open. Im figuring they did this to hide the filthiness of the restaurant. Needless to say we are still looking for a good Mexican restaurant. When we told them about the quality of the food at the end we were told that there was no complaint when they stopped by when the plates were first brought. I did notice that quite a few people ordered the fajitas. Maybe we should have done that or maybe these people dont really know what good authentic mexican tastes like.

Great restaurant with fresh hot food. Been here now 5 times- lunch and dinner. Service is very friendly some are faster and friendlier than others, but it seems that the salsa and chip people always have a smile for you. Chips and Salsa free and there is a Mexican bean / meat soup thats out of this world and yes its free too. Only reason I give it a 4 as they could use a detail clean over all. Excellence is in detail El Saltillo! Kudos to staff ( cooks servers / salsa chip people :) * UPDATE* seems like Mgr changed. Food some hot but like the rice and beans cold / warm not hot. Chips taste cold and stale. Server today was acting like a Robot, no smiles anymore and after he asked if everything was good, before I could answer he turned and said fine. Had to laugh but not really funny!!! Plus it rained ( drips from the ceiling onto my husband) What is going on there? Too much staff laughing and playing around instead of working.

I go to restaurants solely on peoples reviews. And it was rated 4.7 Maybe I was at wrong location. I order burritos Carnitas and the pork was dry and tough. And the Margarita was so small that I finish it before my meal, and had no kick to it like other Mexican restaurants Ive been to. Maybe it just was the wrong day to come and they ran out of fresh food.

This is a pretty good Mexican restaurant. It is notable for having a indoor smoking section in the bar with ventilation-- no smoke smell anywhere else. If that is for you, then consider it a benefit. The menu is a little short on variety, but the fajitas are very good. There is a special lunch menu with reduced prices.

This is easily one of my favorite restaurants, I havent eaten anything on the menu and been disappointed. The decor is a little iffy but who cares? The food is great, staff is friendly and helpful, prices are reasonable and it has an inviting atmosphere. I routinely recommend this one.

This place is fantastic! Lillian was my server and she was awesome! Very helpful and kind. The food was amazing. I had the lunch Carne Asada that was more like a the size of a fajita dinner size. The prices are very low for the amount of quality food you get. A definite must try!

I have been eating at this restaurant regularly since 1997. The quality of their dishes have been deliciously consistent throughout the years which has kept me coming back. This is truly the best Mexican Restaurant on the Gulf Coast!

Decent food, friendly staff. I eat there often and while some of the regular items are pretty much the same, the specialty items are pretty good. The Zacatecano and the Molcajete are really good.

Where else has a lunch menu that runs 7 days a week. The food is always fresh, and the service is generally good. Zach is a wonderful server. If you havent been to this location, go check it out.
