I get better service at an out-of-business brothel. We keep giving them chances.... We want this place to succeed because the beer selection is great, the brunch is a steal, and the bartender (I think his name is John) is excellent. However, the service keeps killing us. My better half asked the server about happy hour and the kind young man explains. She orders the house red wine for five dollars (specifically says HOUSE RED). Food takes a while but were in no rush. Pretty tasty, not the best but definitely good. Everything goes decent and the two of us run up almost a $100 tab. I notice the glass of wine (she had two during happy hour) was $12 each on the bill. I bring it to the servers attention (we now have a kind middle-aged gal instead of the young man). She takes it without hesitation and says shell get it figured out. Another lady returns (I presume manager) and tells us that it was some fancy Cabernet. I explain that we ordered the house red and she continues to argue and actually speaks down to us. We just spent 100 bucks, were not trying to get free anything. This goes on and she berates us continually and eventually pulls the classic "Fine" and walks away. She comes back and changed it to SIX (thats 6) dollars for the five dollar wine. Like to prove a point? So you would rather have an extra dollar and prove a point (a false point at that) than have a customer??? Cool, well remember that. We eat out too many meals a week and spend a lot of money at restaurants. This is not one we come to often because of incidents like this. Maybe other people have great experiences but this left a terrible taste in my mouth. We were not rude or demeaning but she was and every time I see her there when we decide to give it another chance, it ruins the meal. BUT. Maybe shes gone because this incident was 6-12ms ago :) well keep trying because we love local business but weve been very disappointed so far. One more.... We arrived and the server asked to see our IDs because we were only looking at the drink menu?? Didnt try to order. And it wasnt even a "may I see your id" or "do you happen to have your id". It was a flat and immediate "ID". Like demanded it. Holy sht. I could go on but Im writing a novel. It made us not want to order drinks so cool, we spent 20 less bucks because of rude service. WE DIDNT EVEN TRY TO ORDER, SHE JUST DEMANDED. okay Im done.... Two stars for the bartender and food.

Unbelievable! Honestly, Im highly perceptive, intuitive and unfortunately that tends to be primarily cynical/critical. Now couple that with still a bit of immaturity and also having experienced fine dining at its best. I can usually keep in mind context, and am big on the "vibe". Love is felt in every thing you experience... or it isnt! This place has heart and you can taste it! Im sitting at the table to which its my second visit and I not only confirmed my original perspective, I significantly strengthened it. Now maybe this is simply the difference between Northfield and Lakeville, in terms of "country ", but the food, the beer, the concept, the authenticity, and the hard work that went into this place makes it so far from the corporate junkies going nuts over Brew Pubs, I cant tell you. Come to think of it, I might continue to come down here even after my Sons team is done with the Dome this spring... GALDARNIT I AM AS A MATTER OF FACT!!! Great Job Leadership!

We have yet to eat off the regular menu, as we are always enjoying the appetizers. What we love about the appetizers at Fielders is that they are not your typical deep fried bar food. Our new favorite is the steak crostini...absolutely delish. Also enjoyed the stuffed tots, the sour cream bacon dip that comes with it is delicious. We also recommend the chicken lettuce wraps, spicy chicken mixture with fried crispy tortilla strips to go on top. A lot of places do not clean their tap lines frequently and that gives an off taste to the beer. If you drink the same beer you know what it should taste like. We have never encountered that problem at Fielders( great job guys). Love all the Minnesota Beers on tap, such a great selection. We have gotten to know the bartenders Julee and John they always make us feel welcome. Great service at the bar.

I visited Fielders after dropping off my daughter at a local college. I very rarely post restaurant reviews, but after experiencing Fielders great service, menu and beers on tap selection, I felt obligated to comment on this Northfield jewel. On a Friday evening at 6:30, the parking lot was packed. I found a solo available seat at the bar and was greeted immediately, given a beer menu (an amazing number and variety of microbrews) and settled in. I also ordered a GOOMBAH wood-fired pizza, and had some great conversation with fellow patrons as well as the two bartenders. One of them was an owner of the business. If you like supporting a quality local small business that serves up amazing, creative meals with great microbrews by friendly servers and owners, give Fielders Choice a try. Im glad I did.

Good food, good waiter. However the hostess was not friendly at all and her attention to detail was lacking. We are a family of 5 with 3 kids, one of them an infant. We were undecided if we were going to stay not knowing if they had food for kids. She did give us a kids menu, but then appeared impatient with us until we decided to stay. Then seated us with 4 adult menus and one kids menu, then brought 3 additional kids menus with a handful of broken crayons. Meanwhile Im sitting with my infant on my lap. When our server came he had to ask her to bring a highchair. Ok. Well the food helped, but then on our way out she rushes past us, I had to get out of HER way and there was no smile or farewell. Hence the review of 3 stars. Probably would not go back.

First time here was last night it was our wedding anniversary. I have to say best choice in the world to have dinner here. Laurie was our server and we told her we had not been here before. She walked us through the menu and took excellent care of us. She was just a treat to talk to and so knowledgeable. The food was amazing, my husband and I have found a new favorite place to eat. BLT with Avocado who would have thought? I"m hooked excellent excellent place, food amazing, prices just right, service nothing compares!!! Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!

Based on the other reviews, the only thing thats good is the tap beer and pizza... we ordered neither. The burgers were bland and the jambalaya was terrible, like it came from a box. I was hoping the chicken wild rice soup was amazing, disappointed again. Our service was spotty, forgot our daughters drink, which he suggested, until he came back with our food. Only 1 check in before we were given our check and he never came back to get payment, we paid at the bar. Recommendation for the owners, get a new chef because you need a new menu.

Ive been consistently impressed by this place! Several visits, including lunch and dinner hours, and both the service and food have been awesome. Great selection of tap beers (and boozy adult milkshakes if youre feeling indulgent). Highly recommend the shrimp and avocado salad if youre looking for something on the lighter side. Honestly cant recall the name, but I got this delicious monstrosity of pastrami and candied jalapeño on a hoagie and it was to die for. Burgers have been tasty as well. Theres something for everyone on the menu.
