Stopped in today. Chubby girl was the barista. I sat at the bar the last seat against the wall. Next to me was a young couple in their early 20s. I put my credit card on the counter--and waited, and waited, and waited. Meanwhile, the barista was moving at a pace that had she gone any slower the milk would have curdled. I waited, and waited. I crossed my arms and looked directly at her. Besides making "drinks" . . . two while I waited, and waited. One she delivered to a table. Then she came back to resume the running conversation she was having with the YOUNG couple directly adjacent to me. Then she asked HIM if he wanted another one, while I waited, and proceeded to slooooooowly make his drinking while yakking. I waited with my arms crossed. Finally, I irritably said, "Are you that busy." She said, "Im busy making drinks," and pointed to people already served. Not sure what the hell that meant. I did tell her to "speed it up then.". Then in a snotty way said, "Besides you are suppose to order here." and patted the counter, that I could now see had a card terminal. Sure blame the new customer. I said, I was going to contact the owner. Then she said, "Well, go ahead and you can get out now." Which I intended on doing anyway. Im a patient guy. A word like, "Ill be right with you." or "Sir, place you order over here please." It was as if I wasnt there. I really mean that. I was neatly dressed, a dapper senior, who doesnt look his age, raised two fine daughters that put your airhead to shame. Im thinking that Black Eye Coffee is not the place for people over a certain age. Im going to try it again, hopefully there will be another person there . . . if not physically, at least with an substantive attitude adjustment. I do think that ageism may be an issue, as well as common courtesy. Thank you.

Wanted to try a flight, but they said they were unavailable because the cups were all broken. (What?) The lady in front of me was frustrated because they make her drink different every time. The barista said they had streamlined everything...ironically, my friend and I got the same drink. Mine came in a goblet and hers came in a plastic cup. Cold press on nitro will change your life (and is available elsewhere in the Cities), but this location really needs to work on some customer service and consistency.

Its really nice having a high-caliber coffee shop in the neighborhood. Somewhere to take out-of-town guests or to chill for a minute away from home. The coffee is great, but I think the other offerings such as the kombucha varieties and a random switchel offering are almost more noteworthy. The cold press on nitro is a nice Summertime drink, if I could tear myself away from the Miel.

Fusion of coffee and bar without the alcohol. A nice assortment of Kombucha, of which I enjoyed the smooth flavor of the three choices. The coffee is strong by itself but with some raw sugar or diluted 2:1 at home it was delightful. Was given a Groupon as a b-day gift from my daughter. Wouldnt have known of the place without it. Shes so nice!

Love Blackeye! I started off picking it up around the cities and kind of stumbled on their location right after they opened it last year. Really beautiful inside and it gives you an opportunity to try some of their other products. Check them out!

First coffee shop Ive ever had a flight of drinks (they had kamboocha, iced tea and cold press coffee on tap). I miss Blue Ox, and it looks like Blackeye will be a new favorite for me. Beautiful remodel and great baristas.
