We finally went to Upstate for a birthday dinner this weekend and were so pleased with our experience here. From the food, to the atmosphere, to the service, Upstate fell nothing short of wonderful. Come early - as in right when it opens early - as in the restaurant gets completely full within a half hour of opening at 5p. For the appetizer, the crab cakes were flavorful and nicely seared. For the entrees, I had the fettuccine with clams which was also delicious. Whole sweet clams with generous amounts of garlic and butter. My boyfriend opted for the fish of the day - cod with sautéed vegetables and sriracha butter. He enjoyed his just the same. The portions are pretty fair, but youre not likely taking home a doggy bag. Bonus points for complimentary whiskey pound cake at the end, too! Highly recommend for dinner!

Long time client of the business that is known to have good food. Recent renovations to the dining area have increased the noise level making it hard to carry on a normal conversation. Prior to this visit we asked to sit in an area toward the back that is outside of the larger dining area. Hopefully they add some type of sound baffling in the way of interior decorations. It sounds like a dining hall in a gymnasium. During this visit we were seated at a table for six straight inside the front door. The people leaving had to squeeze through between the three booths on one side of our table and the new wall corner on the other. Its almost as though they didnt know what to do with the table so they set it in this location. Some main dish portions are smaller now for the same or more price.

Weve been on a trip from MN and traveled throughout the midwest, trying local places instead of chains. We were recommended to try this place, and were impressed both by portion size and taste, as well as being pleased with the value. Kids meals were better than normal, for about the same price as regular casual restaurants. The Ultimate Nachos were HUGE and tasty, as was the taco salad. The BBQ (no sauce but full of flavor) also impressed. And the BBQ sauce was so good we got a pint to go - hope it lasts! Service was a little slow but very pleasant, unlike other reviewers commented. We hope to return again as we are in the area!

I have dined here before with really good results. Tonight, not so much. I ordered the Chicken Marsala. It came out looking wonderful, so I tucked in. It tasted pretty good. I went to go for the pasta and it wasnt there. I caught the waitress attention and asked her about it. She looked at me and said that when she asked me if I wanted potato or vegetable with it that they consider pasta a vegetable. I know I had a stupid look on my face. In what world is pasta a vegetable? WTH... The last time I ordered the very same thing and got pasta with it along with a damned vegetable. Needless to say I wasnt amused.

Sitting in here now eating a very late lunch. A waitress, obviously upset from the tip left or not left, screams if you cant leave a tip dont eat out!! She then follows up with "take your ass to McDonalds!" Mind you there are several patrons in this restaurant. Classless and obviously her boss and coworkers felt this was ok as they all seemed to agree. Doubt Ill ever be back after 25 years of going here. Rude and no class would be fine for a cheap joint but I just spent 65.00 to hear some spoiled child disrespect every customer in here.

I dont know how to feel about this place. Their food is always super good, but the service almost makes it not even worth it. It has been bad EVERY time Ive been here; Ive waited literally 20 minutes to be greeted before, Ive been ignored and never checked on (no drink refills, is food ok, etc), and encountered servers that were not even remotely personable. I used to be a server, so I dont have crazy expectations. The serving staff here is honestly just horrendous. Maybe Ill just get food to go from here on out.

Never have I been treated so rudely and embarrassed this was my first time here and definitely my last. Wait staff was rude, I sat for a good half hour until my order was taken, management was a joke. We reserved a room for a memorial dinner, management decided to open the doors and seat people in our section that we RESERVED. And we were told this is not a hall to sit around in, as we are all still ordering drinks and still eating. This place is a joke. And the food wasnt even all that great.

Our weekly meetings are here for our office. In that i have noticed an inconstancy in the quality and presentation on the food. went there today and had a burger. was perfect. other times its not. the service is usually okay but when they get busier say Friday or Saturday night. i have sat for over an hour before getting my food which is understandable but with no refills on drinks or any communication from the staff... i honestly wouldnt come here if i had a choice in where to eat.

Snooty waitstaff. Everything is so salty its beyond repair. French onion soup? More like salt lick soup with some cheese thrown on top. The Philly steak sub is insanely salty. The collosal onion was inedible because of the salt. Please tell your chef to taste his food before it gets sent out. If I wanted this much salt in my familys meal, I would have just taken them to Mcdonalds. The only thing that was not too salty was the god damn French fries. How does this happen.

Several years ago we stumbled upon Michigan Bar and Grill while house hunting in Monroe. We were immediately impressed with their fantastic lunch specials (great hamburgers). When we bought our house, we found ourselves at MB & G almost weekly. Now that weve moved, we still make trips back just for MB & G and have not yet found anything dissapointing. The fish is always fantastic, and we always love the cajun chicken pasta. Highly reccomended.

Very unprofessional staff today for Easter dinner. We arrived at 5:35 and were told by hostess that they close at 6. We said no problem. After we were seated the waitress had to warn us again that we close at 6. We had to ask if they intended to throw us out at 6. There were still other parties being served. She stood there and stared at us until we said the hell with it and left. USED to be one of our favorite places to eat.

We had a party of 5. They wanted to stuff us in a booth. There was no way this could work. We asked for a table. after 45min to a hour wait and looking across the dining room . Multiple tables were empty. They could have pushed them together. No they were waiting for a larger table. We eat at this establishment about 3 times /month. We walked out. We have no intentions of returning soon. A lose of about $200.00 for the owners.

Went for dinner, service was great, very attentive, (she had numerous tables) made sure our drinks were filled, I had the steak fajitas ( I love fajitas) they were the best fajitas Ive had in a very long time, my boyfriend and his dad had ribs they were amazing we loved everything, the place is huge, parking lot was pretty full and we got right in. Reasonably priced for the amount of food you get.
