I would like to give this restaurant zero stars, but since that is not an option, I’ll just share our story. Several days in advance, we made reservations to take my mother out to dinner on the Sunday of Labor Day weekend. The gentleman taking our call asked us to select 5:30 or 6pm, and we chose 6pm. Upon our arrival the hostess claimed we were not on her list and asked us to wait. Which we did, while they seated numerous customers the hostess knew by name. We waited for 10+minutes while Chef Guillaume Hazaël-Massieux puzzled over their notebooks and reservations system, eventually approaching us and asking in a tone that was nothing short of insulting, that “although he saw our name and reservation on a piece of paper,” did we confirm it? Really? We made a reservation; at a grown-up restaurant, a reservation is reconfirmed when the restaurant reaches out with a phone call. If La Becasse has a process to confirm reservations it doesn’t seem to be working; we received no phone call to reconfirm. Ah, but it gets even better – Chef Guillaume then shooed us out of the restaurant with a suggestion that we dine in the patio – in ~65 degree weather following a heavy rainfall, he directed me and my eighty year-old mother to a rain-puddled table in their chilly patio. Our guess is that they offered up our reservation one of the regular customers the hostess knew by name, so my recommendation to anyone considering dining here for the first time is: Don’t make a reservation on a potentially busy night when they may be tempted to offer up your reservation to a more favored customer.

We were thrilled with our experience at this restaurant. We certainly suggest calling ahead and certainly calling the day that you want to go. Dont be surprised if you park on the side of the road, because they are popular. The service was exquisite and we were taken care of throughout our dinner experience. They did let us know that they do not collect the plates until everyone is done eating. As far as Im concerned all restaurants should do that. The ones that dont probably dont have enough plates to begin with. The wine list is amazing. If you are at all familiar with French wines you will be astonished at the selection. We had a Pauillac that was perfect for our dinner. From the appetizer, to the salad, to our dinner, desert and coffee everything absolutely melted in our mouth. Since we have a condo nearby we plan on visiting this restaurant in the future when we are in the area.

Wonderful food and service! We had a great evening at this small restaurant in Maple City. Morels were in season (early May) and they were offered on the menu as an appetizer and as a risotto. We had the appetizer which was delicious. The delicate morels were sauted and served with toast. We also had the escargot, which melted in your mouth. The chef makes a number of specials each day, in addition to the standard core menu. It allows the chef to serve fresh local ingredients that are appropriate for that season. On the back of the menu, it outlines where they get their local ingredients which make you especially appreciate the butter lettuce and the raclette cheese. Le Becasse has an extensive wine list and amazing creme brulee. The staff is very attentive and makes dinner a special event in itself.

The food is supposed to be good here, but Ill never know because after making a reservation a few days in advance and showing up on time for what I hoped would be a special meal with my mother-in-law, we were told they had no room for us. There was no real explanation for what happened to our reservation, and the only attempt they made to accommodate us was to offer us a table three hours later. They were not the least bit apologetic, and the whole exchange sounded and felt suspicious. This was on a busy holiday weekend and we were unable to get into another decent restaurant, and had to literally go home hungry. No restaurant should treat people that way, no matter how good the food might be.

Oct. 3, 2014 We drove an hour to get here. It was 100% worth the drive. It was my birthday so high expectations that were unequivocally met. We had the Tomato goat cheese tart which was melt - in - the - mouth delicious. My husband had the Duck Duo & I had the Pan-American Veal Noisettes--we were both smitten with our choices. Btw. The vegetarian choice looked awesome too! They list the local suppliers on the back of the menu. We have eaten all over the world & this was just superb. Wine list excellent. Wait staff professionsl, timely & very knowledgeable. Pricing was appropriate for fine dining.

The restaurant is a little crowded in that one has to bend around chairs to get to your table. That being said we had a great dinner. We started with sauteed fern fronds with oyster mushrooms in a morel.cream sauce. This was exceptional. My wife had a succulent duck confirm and seared duck breast. This was served with a warm sweet potato cake. I had New Zealand rack of lamb.which was very good and flavorful. It was accompanied by Spring vegitables and mashed potatoes. For dessert we had Blueberry Lemon Parfait.

We held our rehearsal dinner here for our wedding in the fall of 2013. The food and service were amazing for a party of 20+. I highly recommend this restaurant, and will be going back often for special occasions and great food. A true gem in the area.

If you have a family, do not come to this restaurant. They are completely intolerant of children. They put on airs, but in reality they are not that fantastic. In a major urban market, they wouldnt survive.
