24/7 Diner. That is neat. I like the idea of having food at any odd hour of the day, it comforts me. However, the idea of an establishment like this is much better than the actual implementation of said idea. I have yet to order food from Grand Coney that I have truly enjoyed. Its named after a hotdog. So I would assume that the Coney dogs here are good. That assumption has led me to a poorly constructed Coney dog with a dry bun, and little flavor in the dog itself or the toppings. The saving grace here is really just the malts. Good classic diner malts which are great at 3 in the morning. If you absolutely need to eat food at an ungodly hour than come here, but only come here with low expectations. I should also say that the service has always been great, so my hats off to the servers.

Waited 1 hour for mediocre food. We have had same poor experience last two visits. Very disappointed. It was great before it was franchised, now it truly is a place to avoid. Koegels are over cooked in a warmer, flint coney sauce is dry and almost burnt, cold fries topped with a little chili and cheese warm them a little. Only one flavor shake, mint chocolate chip, no vanilla, no chocolate. Only great was the Greek salad and I guess its hard to mess up salad. I gave it two chances just to make sure. We really used to love Grand Coney now Burger King has better dogs! VERY DISAPPOINTED AGAIN.

This is a 3 1/2 star review. Grand Coney is a good restaurant. The food is solid and the service in all of the restaurants Ive been to is very good. The downtown location especially as employees that of been there a long time and treat you like family. I just wish that what they had on the menu they tried to make as fresh and amazing as possible. I guess my big knock is that I am used to Coney places in Detroit. And the food in those places is much better overall. But all in all, if you miss a great coney fries onion rings and other comfort food its a pretty good option in Grand Rapids.

Waitress was nice, but little on the unattentative side as i had to ask for syrup, more coffee, if my steak was done, and a box at the end. But she did alright, what was more disappointing to me was the food. For the $7 steak as an extra to my meal, it was tiny as hell, and medium well rather than medium rare like i asked. My french toast on the side can as ONE bread slice, and the bacon was well over cooked. To say the least I coukd have paid the same, for the SAME food, but more more and better quality at Dennys. I will NOT be taking my money to coney island again.

This place got me through undergrad! Great atmosphere and staff. I dont think Ive ever seen the place totally dead. The crowds change between the day/night/early morning shifts, and something about that gives it a surreal but exciting quality, almost like it transforms into a different place depending on when you go. As a night owl I am most familiar with the 2nd/3rd shift; an interesting and friendly group of characters. The food is good. The coffee is always great, I love the breakfast food, and have yet to find a better plate of chili cheese fries anywhere.

My girlfriend and I went to the Michigan St location downtown Grand Rapids. We had a really wonderful experience, weve been here many times because the food is always awesome. However this time our server, Patrick, who weve never had before really made a difference. He went above and beyond to deliver excellent customer service not only to us but also to everyone else sitting around the bar. A great employee to have and one that will make me want to come back to this location.

We like this place simple as that, you can get some grease if thats what you need or you can get dish that is a lighter/healthy. The coneys are good for sure, very much detroit style if you had them. The greek salad with or without chicken is excellent very fresh ingredients in this one. Breakfast is good all the time. My only gripe is sometimes the place seems a little dingy, not sure they picked the right flooring for the dining portion of the restaurant.

Im not sure how their coney dogs are, but breakfast is a joke. We waited almost 2 hours for our food, when we got it 2 plates had the eggs raw. I mean runny and clear, Im not sure how thats ok to serve to anyone. The table behind us also complained they didnt get a coffee refill for 25 mins. To top if off while leaving there was 4 so called "cooks" out back smoking and as we pulled out they yelled something at us. The place is a joke I would NEVER go back

Grand Coney is sort of necessary to Grand Rapids. It fills the void of 24 hour diners. And its pretty good too. But, with no competition, their prices are higher than they should be in my opinion. For just a little bit more, you could be eating at a nice brewery or restaurant. That said, sometimes I (and many others) just crave diner food and Grand Coney delivers nicely. Ive never had a problem with their food, staff, or location. Just with their value.

Consistently the worst service I have ever had! They have 6 tickets in the window and I had to wait 45 minutes for the wrong order! Not to mention the waiter never made my shake! Another time I was with my coworkers ( we are all in the service industry, and 40-50%tippers and our waitress had the nerve to tell me "I dont want to make your shake" we politely asked for a new waitress we all ordered shakes and the girl made an easy $300 in tips.

Just left grand coney. sat at the counter for 10-15 min. nobody so much as said hello or took my order. I looked around and most people didnt have food in front of them. 90% of the employees were in the kitchen laughing and joking with customers waiting. The food is great in general, service on 5/13/17 at around 630pm was terrible. I had to leave because they took so long to even greet me. Do better. Usually much better service here.

Horribly disgusting food. The service is laughable. The prices are way too high for the pile of garbage they call food that you will receive. Seriously, dont even consider going here, even if its the only place still open late at night. I couldnt even finish half of one of their hot dogs. My cheese fries had a skin on them that was a centimeter thick, and there were bits floating in my drink.

Ordered food, 35 min latter was told they didnt have ingredients for one of our platters. Which was fine and understandable. 10 minutes later they brought two platters out cold. we waited another 15 minutes before third platter was served. We wasnt able to eat together. Service was lousy and food was not good. Things have changed in the last few months at this grand coney

Been here twice, foods good, not the best though. Just went again , left after 30 minutes with nobody acknowledging us. Tried to get the different waitresses attention as well as what appeared to be two managers, clearly they didnt want our business enough to pay attention. Of note, it wasnt busy, there were 4 tables with customers, at least three waitresses and 2 managers.
