I was re-visitng Boston from the UK after living there for 5 years, over 10 years ago. I was trying to show my boyfriend all the best places in Boston. A ex-colleague recommended the Parish cafe. We both skipped across the Common, giddy and happy tourists, only to have the mood cut-short by the rude bouncer at the door. He didnt smile and barked what sounded like IDs at us, I asked why, because I thought it was a cafe? We had just been to a bar and were not asked for our IDs. We didnt really want to drink, we just wanted to have a sandwhich. When we gave our UK driving licenses, which have photos and are the same style as the US ones, he told us they were not good enough. He then said no ID, no entry. I think he was on some kind of power trip. It was all very strange. The only thing I was pleased about was that my boyfriend replied no entry, no business...although it did ruin our good mood for the evening and finished what had otherwise been a wonderful day. Parish cafe, please, please, train your doormen in good manners, it takes very little, but means a lot! (a huge fat raspberry goes to you, rude doorman!)

Paris Cafe is a staple neighborhood bar and restaurant in Bostons South End. The food, despite seeming simple, is quite delicious. The star of the menu is the sandwich list, containing creations from local chefs designed specifically for Parish. Other favorites are Seans Meatball and Seans Simple Chicken. The bar features a great seasonal rotation of beers on tap and over 100 beers in bottles and cans. Membership into the Parish Cafe mug club is a large task, demanding one to finish 125 beers in 180 days. The reward is a personalized 25 oz. mug that resides at Parish, quite a status symbol indeed. The staff is friendly and open to chatting. Overall, Parish provides a relaxed, positive vibe. Combining that with killer sandwiches and a huge beer list? Awesome.

This is one of my favorites! Great to take visitors due to their amazing sandwich me ur (on the the back side of their main menu) which has been curated by local chefs including the head chef at Flour and Mistral) this makes it the perfect place to Let ur visiting friends "sample" tastes from the best of the best in Boston. The beer selecting is amazing (finished my mug club card!) and their cocktails arent bad either! As for the main menu, get the half order of onion rings or the hummus platter to start off. As for main meal options, the Seans simple chicken is to die for. The soups are also very tasty and the portions are generous.

Have now been here four or five times and have been impressed each time! Ive found it a great place to go with my parents and family when they come to visit. My brother who takes his food very seriously and was counting on me bringing him to a good palace had The Rialto and loved it. I had The Bond Herb Roasted Chicken Salad Sandwich and also loved it. Have also had the Mac n cheese, which is great. Good atmosphere, good beer, and good sandwiches. Not much more to ask for! The service has also been great. The waitress once even helped set up uber on my phone so my parents and I could get back to our hotel. Amazing!

Not sure what happened here. This place used to be great and somewhere I would recommend but service has grown awful at best. Want beer from a bottle? Wait 10 minutes. Want a drink? Please wait another 10 minutes and it will not even be exactly how the menu describes it. Want to send your back drink so it can be what you actually ordered? No sorry configure it yourself with salt or whatever you can order to add to it. I can no longer recommend this place under any circumstances.

Ive heard a lot of rave reviews about Parish and have given it a go more than once. There seems to be a lot of hype without a lot of substance. Dont get me wrong, the menu is delicious and the drinks are adequate but the wow factor isnt there. Worst of all, the seating can be tricky and while its supposed to be accommodating for larger groups thats not always the case. Not the worst or the best place but certainly not remarkable enough to frequent.

I tired a sandwich from here today, the eggplant Milanesa. I found it a little lacking on flavor. The bread- sesame torta was very tasty, eggplant was very nice too but there was something missing in the sandwich. It has all the Mexican ingredients but lacked the Mexican punch/kick. Cole slaw side was really good too. It is pretty pricey but I am willing to try it one more time to see if something was missing in my sandwich this one time.

waitress gave me $12.00 worth ice cubes with little bit of ginger taste in the background when asked for gentlemen ginger. I have been going at this place for almost 1 and half year now and this is the first time I have faced such situation. When I asked the waitress about the drink being less concentrated, she denied and told me it was made correctly. I know how the drink should be!!!

Parish... Parish... Parish... The place of familiar faces and good food. They always have rotating beer on tap, which is a huge plus! Dont tell those famous chefs around town, but I think their sandwiches may be better than the originals... You will never go wrong with Parish, and they serve food late night on top of it. what more do you want out of your local neighborhood bar.

Was very impressed by the sandwiches we ordered (grilled cheese and riolsta?) They were amazingly crafted. Our waitress was very attentive and friendly, especially on St. Patricks day. It was late at night and slow, but they have the roll up windows which was awesome. A place that would be really cool to hang out when the weather gets warmer.

At first you think this is a little unassuming place to grab an afterwork drink. Its that and more. The staff is super friendly and attentive. The food menu is scrumptious. Their onion rings are out of this world! Get a half order because the full order is monstrous. They have a stellar beer selection with lots of local brews too.

Parish is a great neighborhood restaurant/bar in the South End area. They have a huge selection on beers, and even allow patrons to participate in a Mug Club, where they drink all of the beer offerings over 6 months. My favorite thing on their menu - the onion rings. They are beer battered and absolutely fabulous.

I started coming here years ago with a friend who was competing in their beer-selection contest, to win a special glass or something....its a really fun place to be, and great food, great drink selection - perfect during a weekday. The sandwiches are always well-made, ANY of them, you cant go wrong.

I have been to this Parish location several times and always have a great experience. the food is always great and the beer selection cant be beat! Never an issue with service either like a recent reviewer said. Maybe it was just a bad night, you should give it another shot for sure!

Its a nice place, with a typically attentive staff and a good selection. Unfortunately, their beer prices are a little out of control. $8 for an Imperial Pint, and always defaulting to that when I ask for a beer? Yeah, not cool. Its a better value if I just got 2 regular pints.
