Three star food with negative star service. As locals, we came here late on a stormy Wednesday night for a friends birthday. The restaurant was really quiet. The first indication that service was going to be bad was waiting almost 10 minutes to be seated when there were only 4 other tables seated at the restaurant. We had a table of 9 which was a pretty big party but it was a quiet night! We waited 45 minutes for our main courses. I had the shrimp tacos. The shrimp were lightly breaded with good texture but were really salty so only three stars for the food. The problem we had was with the service. Our server Megan did not tell us the specials until we asked her, did not refill the big water bottle for the table until we asked her, never asked if we wanted more drinks or dessert. She only showed up at the table to take our orders, bring food, and the check. We asked to split the bill several ways. We figured this wouldnt be too hard because we were the only table left in the restaurant at 9:30pm so we werent taking service away from another table. Then we had 20% gratuity HAND WRITTEN on the bottom of our checks. A person in our party asked about the 20% gratuity for large parties since it wasnt stated on the menu. While this is fairly standard for parties over 6, the manager argued that he had the permission from the owner to add gratuity without telling the customers. I personally would have tipped 20% anyways because of my friends and family in the service industry who depend on tips but when Megan reappeared with the checks after we asked about gratuity she THREW my friends receipt with an eye roll and huffy attitude into his plate, which she never cleared, and stomped away without leaving any pens. Really?!?! I can make shrimp tacos at home. I came out for a good food and service and didnt receive either one. Despite a potentially beautiful view on a not stormy day, I dont recommend this restaurant because of the people who work here. There are plenty of other restaurants who work hard to deliver outstanding service to build a good reputation. Dont waste your time or money at this one.

Ive been to this location by boat on many occasions. Wonderful location, view, decor and friendly staff. Drinks are great as it is the quality of the food. However portion sizes can be disappointing. I ordered the crabcake platter which advertise as two jumbo lump crab cakes with two sides. A quarter cup of coleslaw and what I would consider a cup worth of fries accompanied two small crabcakes about 3 inches in diameter. For $30 I would have expected more both of the crabcakes as well as coleslaw and fries which are relatively cheap fillers for the restaurant to offer. A few extra fries thrown into the fryer costs a restaurant next to nothing in the scheme of things. Ill continue to come back but will do so for the drinks and atmosphere and go somewhere else to eat.

I love the Ruddy Duck! Not only is the food great, but they have the best bartenders around. Brian, Sophie & Dylan always make sure your drink is filled and that you are happy with every aspect of your dinning experience. I love their fish tacos, their shrimp tacos are pretty good, too. There is usually a special that is mouthwatering just reading about on the menu. It can be hard for first timers to choose what to order. Ive learned the only way to solve that problem is to keep going back.

LOVE THIS PLACE... is the most amazing place Ive ever been, I came here a couple years back with a friend and fell in love. The blue crab dip is just out of this world. I just made a trip back to MD to come back to this place and brought my son, now he asks me when are we planing another adventure to Maryland lol... definitely will come back again soon.

Had a pretty rough meal here around Easter weekend. Had the worst mussels Ive ever tasted. They came out lukewarm and seemed like they had sit on a counter for a half hour. Several cracked shells and closed Mussels, too. Everything else was fine, but we ordered stuff that is pretty hard to mess up (Mahi Tacos, chicken sandwich).

Great restaurant sitting right on the river. Specializing in seafood. Youll never get a bad meal, however I feel the prices are $1-2 overpriced. Additionally, I still prefer the original in Solomons! That being said, a great place to take your family for a good meal. You wont be disappointed! And the view cannot be beat.

We take the boat here almost weekly during the summer months. Food is always excellent and their locally brewed beer selection is fantastic. If youre looking for good food on the water in southern Maryland this place is the best!

Very cozy looking over the water. Came in for drinks and dinner. The crab cakes and raw oysters were awesome. Very friendly bar staff. Definitely a place where everyone knows your name. Pardon the pun.

We love Ruddy Duck. The one in Solomons is even better. They make authentic fried Empanadas from Argentina at Solomons location. Wish they had them at this location too since its closer to home.

Very over priced. The smallest crab cakes in the world did contain lump crab meat and were very good. But 30 bucks for two mini crab cakes, fries, and pineapple coleslaw is very over priced.
