Out in the County again, my wife and I took to the road to escape the house for a spell. After taking care of errands, we decided to go eat lunch and we ended up just south of Kingsville, a place called The Gunpowder Lodge. It’s a restaurant on route #1 (Belair Road) just North of Perry Hall and the beginning of Kingsville. Formerly known as the Tiber Creek Tavern. The entrance of the Gunpowder State Park trails is not to far away. I dont remember when it re-open but I am glad we visit them on this trip. The place is tucked into the wooded area on the southbound side of Belair road, Handicap accessible as for the entrance, didn’t check out the bathroom. Arriving at about 12:13 PM we parked in the designated parking for handicap was clearly marked, as we made our way to the entrance I saw one of the employees heading to the door, only I beat him to it, non-the-less, he made a gesture to help the door while I wheel-chaired my wife in, unlike our visit yesterday to the Mallet. We had never been there so we asked if there were tables out on the terrace, he (Jose) kindly guided us there. Within minutes of sitting, he gave us our menus and welcomed us (I am liking this place already). By 12:20 PM we are ready to place our order and 20 minutes later we are served a hot, delicious meal and you know what, the serving portions were generous. This time I had a Beer, served cold and my wife had the Lemonade, which was freshly made. The meat: Black Agnes was super tender and succulent, I had mine in a wrap and my wife had hers on a Keiser roll, she also ordered the coleslaw, and I ordered the German Potato salad, we had so much we shared each other’s side dish. By quarter past 1: PM we were done and minutes later the bill...satisfied of our treatment, food and service they will surely see us again. Truly, a great place to visit and worthy of your patronage. Our lunch was not too expensive, just under $15 bucks each. Highly recommended!

2nd night they were open...not much changed! Seems like they had more staff than needed, but, you couldnt get a bartender to wait on you as they were too busy chatting with other co-workers....when I asked questions in regards to entertainment, St. Pattys Day, the staff were ill informed...best answer was, "I dont know" --great for future business...food was ok, but not as specified on the menu...crab dip was good, but, lacked the tomatos they were advertised with....mac n cheese was ok, a little pricey for mac n cheese, nachos were soggy when they arrived....so, outta 10, Id give em a 5 until they can master the fact that the customers are their business......and the food is prepared as stated on the menu! Good luck GPL!

Food wasnt anything special. Service was bad. Our waitress was zipping around so fast we couldnt even ask her for water and the bus boy brought us our food and was at our table more than her. My husbands baked potato was rotten inside and over half of it was black. My husband asked if he could get a side of chipotle sauce with his burger..she kept bringing bbq sauce and said it was chipotle. I asked for pickles for my burger. Both the pickles and bbq sauce they he didnt want were charged to the bill..we wouldnt have gotten them if we would have known it was extra. Wont be going back.. we can get cheaper and better burgers elsewhere

Great atmosphere, service is great, food is very good especially the cream of crab soup which is excellent. However, if you are looking to book a party there - be sure you plan to spend lots of money on an average menu. If you are looking to find someone to work with you on an affordable menu - you wont find it here. The catering manager treated me as though my money wasnt good enough for them and made no attempt to try to accommodate my party. It wasnt even the fact that we might not have been able to agree on a price, but I have never felt so dismissed in my life. Very disappointing.

The food here is great and most of the bar staff is wonderful. Bad experience today though. Sat at the bar for a few minutes while waiting for a table and the Ravens game. Asked for the specials and was shown the Ravens Gameday Specials so to be kind to the bar staff I ordered a Miller Lite bottle on the specials page at 1pm. Game time was 1pm. Got it and was charged a lot more, regular price. After being seated, I asked to speak to a manager because their specials were misleading at best. None showed up for the whole first half. Just hate being lied to. My last beer there.

My husband and I went there today for a quick lunch. Thursdays are $3 off specialty burgers. I got the BBQ Jack burger with coleslaw and he got the Gunpowder burger with chips. Both were absolutely delicious. We then finished it off with a dessert, the Mini-Chocolate chip cookie-wich which was big enough for us to split. Also delicious. Our bill was roughly $30 bucks. We are excited to go again for other items that looked appetizing on the menu. Great atmosphere, great service and great food.

Went to Gunpowder Lodge again this weekend and had a great time. Carol our waitress was friendly, attentive and knew the menu well. The owner/manager remembered us from our last visit and stopped at our table to chat and see how everything was. The shrimp salad was yummy and the potato salad was very interesting-in a good way. Looking forward to trying the brunch real soon. The atmosphere is casual and unpretentious; it’s not trying to be something it’s not.

After dropping off drinks, the waitress walked away without asking to take our order. She never returned except to take and deliver orders to tables who arrived well after we did. No contact at all. After 29 minutes appetizer still not delivered. Dropped 5.00 for drinks and left. Told hostess, she said "Oh, Im so sorry." And walked away.

Great food, fantastic nachos but very freakin loud. Had to move from one end of the restaurant to the other just so my 4 yr old son would take his hands off his ears. It wasnt even crowded. Just 2 other tables but 1 was a bunch of muscle bound loud mouths. Definitely recommend...BYOEP (Bring Your Own Ear Plugs).

I went here for the first time on St. Patricks Day and I was very pleased. I ordered the Shepards Pie which was amazing!! I had Brooke as my server and she was wonderful. I am a server and it is often difficult to find good service these days, but Brooke was spot on with everything. Will definitely be back soon.

Great cozy place in the fall and winter time. Nice clean bar are delicious food. Burgers are cooked to perfection, loaded nachos are piled high and the staff are very friendly. The only problem is the food can be on the wee pricy side. All in all wonderful experience and will continue to visit.

Most of their dishes are pretty good. Also, they have enlarged the menu the last few years and improved the quality of the food. But it can be very loud if they have many customers or there is a game on. I think the meals are pricier than other restaurants in the area serving similar dishes.
