Coffee was pretty good, baristas were nice and the actual seating areas are nice, plus great range of home brewing equipment at a pretty decent price (not that it matters to me, Im passing through haha). Knocked off a star for two reasons; 1) espresso couldve been better if they weighed their shots. I worked at a specialty coffee shop for a few months and doing this takes seconds, it wouldnt affect a busy period. 2) like another reviewer said, the steam wand was caked in dried old milk. Other than it tainting the taste of any drinks made with it (and it potentially against health and safety regulations), it just shouldnt happen if standards are high enough. Again, takes a second or two to wipe and purge a steam wand after use. BUT Those arent enough for me to seriously downgrade a place. Literally everything else was pleasant and Im probably going to pop back over there in an hour or two to grab another drink before the night is out!

Highland Coffees has several things going for it. 1. Brewed coffee is fantastic. I highly recommend the Sumatran, Brazilian Oro, or Costa Rican La Minita medium roasts (when available) 2. Granita Latte (imagine a strong frozen coffee with the consistency of a margarita). Add chocolate or caramel, or enjoy without flavor. 3. Affogato (delicious vanilla ice cream with a shot of espresso poured on top) 4. Good tea selection. Lots of options. 5. Lots of tables and chairs for meetings, studying, or hanging out. 6. Their hours are awesome! Open earlier and later than any other coffee shop in town! 6:30am-11pm most days. Their espresso drinks are good, not the best in Baton Rouge (Magpie Café is #1), but definitely solid. The wifi is slow on busy afternoons, but not unbearably slow (like Garden District Coffees wifi). If youre on campus, this is a must-visit coffee shop.

This shop is in a convenient location and the outdoor seating is nice, but the coffee is mediocre at best. The real problem is that the people working here never clean the steam wands of their espresso machine, which should be a health code violation. They recently got a new espresso machine, but its steam wands are already disgusting with old, caked-on layers of dried milk, just like the machine it replaced. Cleaning the machine is common sense and they dont even get that right. Theres no telling what else isnt being cleaned. Stick to iced beverages if you have to go to this shop.

ive always found it easier to focus on a task in an environment with subtle ambient "noise." being that this place is a hub for students, highland coffees always has persons inside going about their business. this makes it the perfect location for me to adequately complete any/all study/research tasks ive got at the moment. their tea selection is pretty stellar, and the employees are always courteous. sick spot. i say 11/10 would recommend 6 sure.

If you dont mind being judged for buying overpriced mediocre coffee that may not be the new hip drink then go for it. Also lots of babes go here EDIT: I left this comedic review initially, but the owner of this business searched on Facebook to find me and personally message me about this review which I had assumed hopefully nobody would take seriously. So heres my shiny new review! New revised review: Decent.

One of my favorite coffee places around town! An LSU landmark, students and early birds alike have fallen in love with their selection of coffee, teas, and pastries.. A great selection of coffees at a very reasonable price, they roast their own and they are always super friendly. I love hanging out here and the laid-back atmosphere. I hope they stay around for a long time!

This is my all-time favorite coffee house. It has a friendly and calming atmosphere, and the music they play is good for working or conversation. Many college students and professors frequent this place. The outside patio is pleasant. They also have an excellent selection of teas and some good pastries, as well as coffee paraphernalia.

Everything was good, not great but pretty good. We are visiting from Houston, Texas, so I figured lets check out some local coffee shops. If I lived here I dont think Id come here everyday other than just to study or something. I guess I was just expecting too much. Coffee mugs were pretty cool though.

PSA: This place is not on Highland by typical location descriptions!! Its off Chimes next to insomnia cookies. The green tea is ok not great. The iced caramel macadamia iced coffee was pretty darn good though!! The Lemon Blueberry Bread was good for the value and not overly sweet!

Coffee is great! I really enjoy the availability of tables. There is sometimes a lack of outlets for computers during times of high traffic like exam week, but overall the accommodations are fantastic. The service is great even on a busy day, but you really cant beat the coffee.

This place.. where do i start? When you walk in you can smell the greatness of the amazing quility of coffee. A place where students come, great minds collide. If your lucky enough sometimes there is good poetry and music there. My fave coffee spot in Baton Rouge by far.

The coffee is good. Not jaw-droppingly great, but consistently good. The snack food offerings are meh. The vibe is studious, which is to be expected in a student haunt. I particularly like the sheltered, shady outside seating area alongside the building.

Great coffee shop! Its huge inside with a lot of different seating options. Very low key ambiance with classical music playing in the background. Im a fan of their flavored (unsweetened) iced coffees. Great place to study or just relax.

Great college coffee shop always full of students during the semester. Great place to get some work done on your laptop while being fueled by caffeine. Confection selection is pretty good, but could be better. The croissants are meh.

The only place that you can go out for some exposure regularly and see something that doesnt bore you tooooo much. Again the best choice when you dont have other choice in this extremely boring rural area.

My children went to LSU and loved this place. Ive been here a few times and have tried several different coffees and have bought a few pounds to bring home. Delicious coffee and a good ambiance - Im a fan.

Best coffee shop in Louisiana, perfect in every way. Great atmosphere, cool people, great drinks, huge interior, lots of seating both indoor and outdoor, right on campus... Cant say enough good things.

Best coffee in the area unless you make magical coffee yourself at home. Their cold brew is fantastic, and all the products are decently priced and 100% worth it. Only problem is youll get hooked!

The best coffee shop in Baton Rouge! The coffee is delicious and the tea as well. The atmosphere is perfect for casual conversations, people watching, school work, or just reading a book for fun.

I was able to order the roast I prefered -- medium -- and received my latte in a glass mug since I was going to drink it on the premises. Excellent coffee, by the way.

Good coffee, roasted in house, good breakfast/snack foods. Excellent service, even as it got busy. Could be a smidge cooler in general, especially in the summer.

Excellent coffeeshop next to LSU campus. Great for small group gatherings. Decent tea selection. Fun atmosphere. Nice outdoor patio when the weather cooperates.

One of the few locally owned coffee shops in Baton Rouge. Great atmosphere, crowded during midterms and finals. They roast their own coffee before brewing.
