We had been very curious about this new restaurant for several months but only stopped in to try it last night. I have to say, we were impressed beyond our expectations. The atmosphere was above average, the service was very good, but it was the food and the presentation that floored us. For those of you who are not familiar with the concept of a "tapas" restaurant, the idea is that you order a bunch of appetizers to share, versus a large entrée for each person. There are other items on the menu that are closer to being traditional entrées, but the focus is on the appetizers that are meant for sharing. However, dont think for a moment that this means you will go away hungry. We ordered three appetizers and a sandwich for two adults and two small children and left the restaurant stuffed. Approximately half of the menu is vegetarian, with the items clearly labeled on the menu. We had the Guacamole and Chicharritas (the latter being fried plantain strips), Trio de Hummus (black bean, roasted pepper and paprika, and traditional hummus), Boniato Frito (sweet potato fries with smoked honey), and the Frita de Mariscos (Cuban seafood burger). Everything was wonderful, but the most surprising item was probably the Boniato Frito; the fries were succulent and not overly greasy and the smoked honey as an accompaniment to them has to be experienced to be appreciated. We had our two young children with us, who were less impressed than we were. Even though the restaurant is family-friendly, there is not a whole lot on the menu for kids and my recommendation would be to leave the littler ones at home. A teenager with more adult taste would probably do very well. We cant wait for our next visit, when we plan to try the paella, which we assume is made to order since there is a warning printed on the menu (and repeated by the server) that we should allow 45-60 minutes. Mojitos Tapas is a welcome addition to this part of Louisville and should be checked out by anyone who appreciates excellent, flavorful food presented elegantly in a comfortable setting by a very pleasant and efficient staff.

My family and I will eat here every few months and every time we come, everything is simply outstanding. Just recently, we went with a wait time of 45 minutes for a table. We accepted it, knowing it was a busy holiday night. After a long hour and a half (we wouldnt have made it that long if they hadnt had heated lamps in the balcony waiting area), we were seated at a booth. The service was very apologetic and offered free desserts to compensate, so from the moment we were seated, we were instantly delighted. We started off with a round of guacamole and calamari. The calamari was excellent, served with a red pepper sauce and aioli, with the squid being seasoned to perfection. The guacamole couldnt be seasoned better, and was served with plantain chips that were surprising, and actually went better with the guacamole than regular chips. Then came the main course. I ordered lamb chops and chimichurri steak. The lamb chops were cooked perfectly and were juicy and tender, served with a pepper hummus that complemented the flavor beautifully. After I finished my lamb, my steak arrived, which I ordered medium rare. The steak was so thin that I presumed it would be overcooked. But, I cut it and to my surprise, it was medium rare! The chimichurri sauce was nice and tart, while not having an overpowering lime flavor. The steak was very juicy and flavorful, and I savored every bite. My family ordered various different tapas, and they enjoyed each and every one of them (and I heard extensive praise towards the Patatas Bravas, so Ill be getting those next time). Desserts came around and we ordered the trio chocolate. It had chocolate ice cream, chocolate mousse, and a strange chocolate pastey thing with a banana on top that I really liked. Throughout, service was above and beyond expectations on a busy holiday night. They were kind, gracious, and upbeat, while also being apologetic about the wait. Overall, its an easy 10/10, and just might be my favorite restaurant ever!

I am writing this review after a date my girlfriend and I had at this wonderful restaurant. Let me start by saying, the service was outstanding. Everyone was happy, helpful and ready to make your experience one to remember. We made our order and got lost in conversation, but before we knew it we had our food coming at us. I have to pause here and savor the memory. The garlic shrimp, the stuffed dates, so many delightful flavors, we were lost in foodie paradise. Then came desert, we decided on the house made ice cream. Best decision I think we have ever made. If you havent made your mind up yet, stop thinking and just take a leap of faith to Mojito Tapas. Lastly, we had the great fortune of a patron taking our bill and with all of our hearts we want to thank you and we promise to pay it forward.

This was only our second time eating at a tapas style restaurant. The first time in Indianapolis was just so-so. The first experience made me a little leary of giving it another shot, but while on vacation in Louisville, we decided to give it a shot after reading all the great reviews. So glad we listened to the other reviewers! The food was great and the service was just as good. The fried goat cheese was FANTASTIC and also the dates stuffed with goat cheese and wrapped in bacon - YUM! Also, you must order the plantian. Theyre not on the menu, but they will make them for you. Not the plaintain chips but just the pieces of plaintain. You wont be sorry. Lastly, the flan was, as the waiter put it, "to die for!" He wasnt exaggerating one bit. We will definitely be back on our next trip here!

I was there in mid-afternoon on a Saturday, with my wife and two friends. Service was very pleasant, but not particularly fast. Menu items are prepared to order, so you should go to a burger joint if speed is important. The wait after ordering is well worth the time, because the results are delicious. I had the omelette sandwich, which came on a large, toasted bin , and was scrumptious. The side salad and black bean soup, one of which comes with the sandwich, were terrific. We had the guacamole appetizer, which comes with plantain chips, and we all greatly enjoyed it. Prices are very reasonable for such high quality food. Mojito has an excellent and unusual mixed drink menu. Wine and beer selections are o.k, not comparable to the food and drink choices.

PLEASE GET A DOWNTOWN LOCATION!!!! Right by the river, they would make soooo much money! GREAT FOOD! One thing i can say is that the food was magnificant. I loved the presentation. The presentation made the food even better. I loved every bite. I had he lamb chops & hummus, fried calamari, chicken skewers, and a few other plates that was spilt amongst family. Another thing is that the portions are very small, so 2 plates will be adeqaute. The Cuban Colada was delish! Also, our waiter was handsome which put the icing on the cake. The accent was so.... lol Anywho, great place, great food, great SERVICE. Only negative I have is that, they need better menus. They arent too appealing and kind of difficult to follow. 5 STARS!!!!
