I came at 2 oclock and the guy said they were closing in 15 minutes, even though their website says they close at 2:30. So I try to be nice because I dont want to be that person thats hanging around the restaurant when theyre trying to leave so I said Ill get it to go box instead so he gave me the to go box and mind you I dont eat rice I just wanted to have a different variety of curries and they were all liquid so I asked for an extra to go box because if you were dining in you could eat as much as you want from the buffet and he told me that he would have to charge me for two buffet prices if I wanted an extra box because I didnt want all my food to touch. Pretty bad customer service, the food is mediocre at best (first time here), pretty bland and the chicken is way over cooked and dry..... Go to India cafe instead ! They treat you like family

This is by far the best Indian places I have tried in this area, and truly one of my all time favorite restaurants. The flavors are so perfectly balanced. If you order the right things, the taste is really quite special. Portions are generous, and the garlic naan is perfect. Price is a bit high, but really not that bad considering I always leave with leftovers, and I dont mind paying for quality. It is worth noting that while the lunch buffet is good, the evening menu items (even the same dishes as the buffet) are GREAT. So if you can, order from the menu. Also - the Carmel location seems to be quite a bit better than the newer Castleton one. I suppose it comes down to individual chefs. Favorite dishes: Lamb Karahi, Daal Curry, Chicken Makhani (Butter Chicken). Order one of those and thank me later.

My first time eating at Amber Indian. We came in mid afternoon after the buffett was over. I ordered a Lamb Korma and my wife had the Chicken Vindaloo. They came with Naan bread and rice which was great as that is exactly what I wanted. We had the Garlic Naan. My Lamb Korma was excellent. I did ask them to take it up from medium to spicy, but I would not do it again. It was really hot, but still enjoyable. We had a Mango Lassi to soothe our tongues though and they were beautiful. I really enjoyed the food and the service was great. I actually cant wait to get back for the lunchtime buffet. Any place that cooks good indian foood is going to get a high rating from me. Five stars for the Amber Indian Restaurant.

Firstly, Bad customer service, rude staff... We Ordered Goat curry and butter Naan (staff said Plain Naan is butter Naan--surprising, once i got it i didnt see any traces of Butter...also overly used soda to make the naan puffy).Cook doesnt know how to cook Indian dishes and looks like they are catering to only American diners who doesnt have any clue about indian food. The Goat Curry is very dilute and added intense orange color additive. After i ate the food with my hand the color sticks even after washing. This is not authentic Indian dish and any Indian will definitely will regret after first bite... Below average food quality...WILL NOT RECOMMEND TO ANY OF MY FRIENDS AND FAMILY

This is an ethinic Indian restaurant. The best judge of any ethnic restaurant is the crowd and its ethnicity. For example if you go to a mexican eatery, you know if it is good and authentic if you see Mexicans eating there. Amber fails miserably on this count, very few Indians come to eat here. Being an Indian who likes to cook, I am appalled at the taste and quality of dishes that are served here. Apart from poor service and poor taste of food, I dont have many complaints! But why visit this place, when there is India Sizzling near Allisonville Rd and 116 St crossing. That is the best Indian restaurant around Indy area.

while i have not eaten here for dinner, i would highly recommend the lunch buffet. i have always noted that the buffet here is not dumbed down for the lay person who has never eaten indian food. i think it is appropriately spiced to stay closer to authentic. their vegetarian selection is rather large...normally 5 to 7 unique dishes. we have seen quite a number of different dishes in the past, but i would recommend trying the nav ratan shahi korma. it is one of my favorite dishes, and they do it justice here. some friends of ours own an indian restaurant in Broad Ripple, and we have seen them eating here many times.

My first choice go-to place for Indian buffet whether in Indianapolis or Carmel, Indiana. Prefer the location in Carmel. Service is excellent; dont remember my water cup ever being empty ever. Love that I have a choice of regular Naan or the delicious garlic naan that is freshly brought out to you (many places charge you extra for garlic naan). The buffet can be accessed from both sides which means there is usually no wait. But you do have to be seated at least 15 to 20 minute before closing to enjoy the buffet or you only have an option of visiting the buffet bar with 1 carryout container.

We went for dinner last weekend and we have a toddler. We checked in around 9.15 pm and the orders were quite fast to arrive. The food is really excellent but the staff is quite rude. They chased us away since it is closing time at 10. Anyone visting a restaurant with a kid/toddler would definitely take an hour or more. We were so hungry that we were not able to continue our food since weve been asked to pack off since it is closing time. I heard a lot of good things about this restaurant but it was an unpleasant experience with the staff for us.

This restaurant makes me wish I lived closer to Indianapolis. I had the lunch buffet with my father and two year old son - everything was delicious. Even my toddler loved it all. There wasnt a dish we didnt like, and the tandoori chicken was the most tender Ive ever had. I grew up eating Indian food, so Im rather picky with it. Amber didnt disappoint. The staff very friendly, and told me not to worry about it when I was trying to clean up after my toddlers mess. Definitely need to find an excuse to drive down to Indi again soon!

No matter what you order, chicken, beef, lamb or goat its all going to taste the same. Seems as if they cook every thing in the same base. Biryani had way too much spices, we spent a couple of hundred on a large family dinner and the only good thing was the samosas served in the apetizer. I guess its OK food for people who are not aware of the real asian taste but for people (Asians) who know how its supposed to be and have had the real deal will know the difference with the first bite. Bottom line !!! not worth it.

For my American friends this restaurant might be a good buffet as the majority of them regard anything other than burger and steak is authentic food. For the rest of the world who know how Indiana food tastes is only 1 star. However, I gave it two starts as the other star is for their service which is good. To be fair, Ive not try their menu which may be good compare to their buffet as the target for the buffet food is white peoples to make them to think they eat Indian food. Love you my American friends :)
