Wonderful selection of beer! I had read the previous negative reviews to this restaurant, so for our first encounter with Tap House, we decided to go only for drinks to scope out the place. When that trip went well, we returned a few weeks later for food, and now it will be on our shortlist of places to return to in the future. Contrary to other reviews, every element of our experience at this restaurant was fantastic. The server that we had was very good at making sure we always had a beer, communicating the menu and being friendly overall. In fact it was probably the best service we have received in quite some time, (and we eat out a lot). Our food was very good, came out quick, and contrary to other reviews, warm. While the food and beer were a bit pricey, they had some great beer specials on select IPAs at the time, while also having some beer and food pairings that ended up saving us a lot of money. On the subject of price, this bar is more expensive then several other bars in the area, however, for the amount and quality of beer they have on tap, it is well within reason, averaging maybe $5 for a beer like Three Floyds. There are few bars within the western suburbs that have this sort of beer selection, and the ones that do are priced about the same, and none of the ones I have been to have beer specials. Overall, this bar had excellent service, great food and beer, in a clean friendly environment. After our last trip, Tap House Grill will now be regular destination whenever I am looking for some rare and unique beers.

I was really looking forward to trying this place out. But was very disappointed with my visit today. They were very busy and what looked like short staffed, which I completely understood. When our appetizer came I went to pass out the plates only to find under the top one was used plates, which completely grossed me out. When our waitress finally came back to check on the table next to us (after they literally went to find her) I stopped her and politely showed her the plates, she was very apologetic and took them from me, but yet did not bring new ones. The waitress then took our appetizers away before they were done, strange but ok. When our food finally made it to the table my order was not there, she asked if she could get us anything else and I again calmly said my order. She went to check in the kitchen only to come back and say they forgot my order and threw away the ticket. They will make it now at no charge. She couldnt remember what i ordered so I told her what I wanted, and when that finally came it was wrong. I do feel bad for the waitress, Ive been one and is hard to face situations that are not your fault, we did tip her 20%. The manager should have come to the table to perform service recovery. Needless to say a free wrong meal does not make up for the whole experience, and I will not be going back.

One of the worst dining experiences Ive ever had... Our waitress was nice and then she completely disappeared. She was having a rough day, that much was perfectly clear. To be honest, I understand having a rough day, but I dont understand the rest of the visit... We didnt get half the drinks we ordered, the food was sub par at best, we had one waitress take our order, another bring the order out, and then I had to flag down a waitress to get our check (no one ever even attempted to check on us). Now my criticism isnt with the initial waitress, but the management staff, and the last waitress that dropped off the check. As a manager, which Im very familiar with, you take care of your staff, but most importantly, make sure their tables are being looked after! Thats basic management 101. The waitress brought our check to us after having to flag her down to have someone get it for us (meanwhile theres at least 6 employees standing outside in front of the building). She rudely tossed the check on the table and walked away. I know theres not a ton of choices in Oswego to go to, but surely you can do better than this... I wont be recommending it to anyone much less ever stepping foot in there again. Avoid at all costs.

This place is awful. Dont say you werent warned! We live nearby and have given this place at least 6 chances. Even after changing ownership and name it had the same terrible service. The menu is an attempt at creativity that is absolutely ruined by the fact that your food is going to come out cold. My initial inclination was to blame the wait staff but on my last visit my wife and I were the only couple in the place as it had just opened on a Sunday. We ordered the tacos that were supposed to be a game day special. How hard is it to put meat in a shell and get it to the table hot? I watched some of the kitchen staff mill around the place while we ate the crappy food so Im wondering if it isnt time to clean house. Maybe they carried over the same crappy cooks from the first owner which would explain why the menu didnt change much. The only reason I gave it any stars is that they do have a pretty extensive list of beer and the bartender seemed to know his stuff but even this wouldnt make me recommend this place. Its a real shame too because downtown Oswego could use a good solid place. They should gut the Tap House.

Sadly, like many of the reviews Ive read about this place, those that call it way too expensive & poor food quality hit it perfectly. Which IS a shame since they are in a pretty good location right on the river within easy walking distance to downtown Oswego. When it was Emmitts, at least they had very good micro brews, although they always ran out of the popular brews early in the evening! Burger nite on Tuesday nites at Tap House should be a big deal but since their burgers are extremely average (at best), its not worth the effort--- better to throw a frozen patty on the grilll at home--- and that tastes a ton better! You would think that given the potential this place has with a very nice bar with ample TVs for sporting events anx such, someone in ownership would wake up & figure out how to vastly improve the food chiices and preparation instead of losing valuable customer potential to places like Olive Garden & other restaurants that offer uniform or commercial-grade food. I dont mind paying a little more for bettef quality food and Tap House, so far, has not put that on their tables!

My wife and I went here thinking because the food is great and beer selection is the best in the area- that it would be a good place to send off our friend who was changing jobs. The waitress, Caitlyn, was barely attentive and I saw her texting by the POS monitor. When i finally got my beer, it was skunky. When I told her it was no good and requested to take the draft off my bill, she told me shed try but her manager probably wouldnt do it! After we had been given our food, she abandoned waiting the table until we were nearly done eating (~20min!). Later, a few friends met us, but did not receive any service from Kaitlyn and ordered off the bartender. They tried to force an 18% gratuity on us just because they had brought their drinks back to our table and were sitting with us! Im sorry Tap House, but BAD BEER and TERRIBLE SERVICE do not deserve ANYONEs business. Great food though! if you want to eat without a glass of water...
