I was craving good Indian food during our stay in Chicago. We tried couple of upscale and popular joints in Devon Street and Downtown but was only disappointed. Thats when we decided to try US Sankalp. This place serves food way better than many Indian restaurants in and around the Downtown/Devon street in Chicago! This place doesnt have an ambiance of an upscale restaurant but has simple and neat ambiance. On the first look , I wasnt really sure how the food would taste. But as it is said - "Dont judge the book by its cover"; to my happy surprise, the food was amazingly delicious and all the ingredients were super fresh. The service was very quick and the staff is friendly. The food has authentic Indian taste. And the food is reasonably priced and every penny is totally worth it. If you are like me - a food lover who loves to eat any cuisine in its authentic style , this is a perfect place for Indian Authentic Taste.

Every south Indian craves for a good cup of Sambar and steamy, soft Idlis all his life. And Sankalp leaves you wondering if this is what you have been searching for. It would be a gross understatement to say that is all it offers, for the menu keeps you drooling over the exotic names of options in every page (You should see it for yourself to know what i mean!). Has the best service you could get, a decent selection of wine, tasty desserts (Kesari, like your mom would serve), Fresh juices (Lime-Lychee twist!) and much more than what youd expect from the tiny-looking hotel in the middle of a strip mall. The waiter said the secret behind the deliciousness is that every ingredient used in the cooking is imported directly from India except for the lamb and chicken, while i have my doubts about that statement i would very well vouch for the obvious secret: an awesome chef!!

EXCELLENT FOOD!! On the recommendation of our friend, we tried Sankalp last night and WOW! I am of South Indian descent and really loved the flavors of the chole batura, dosa medley and malai kofta. The service was excellent, attentive and kind. The owner was very gracious explaining some of the items I was less familiar with and making recommendations. The food is delicious and spicy! The inside is clean, bright and welcoming. My Serbian husband loved everything we tried! Curries come with rice and we also ordered garlic naan which was delicious. Loved that they provide a pitcher of cool water but not icy cold on each table. Also the prices are appropriate for the location and competition. Plus the entire place was full of other Indians which tells you the food is GOOD!

I have been in a search for a good Indian place to dine in with my family. Sankalp is the place to go. The place has absolutely amazing food and is always fresh filled with the taste every India seeks. The atmosphere is very friendly and welcoming exactly what I was looking for and many places fail to offer. The staff is very helpful and puts customers as first priority. I must recommend malikofta, paneer balti, and the best thing is that we get food from all parts of India in one restaurant which is awesome. Sankalp has the best food Ive had in a American Indian restaurant very delightful. My kids specially loved the Sizzlin hot brownie. They always want to go there for the brownie. But in all honesty Sankalp is the best restaurant one will find in Chicago.

Last weekend, I was visiting Chicago and had a dinner on Friday here. I can confidently say this is the best place in the world for Indian food. We were greeted with smile and treated well by Staff members and Owner. They all made us feel like home. Menu had great unique selection of Indian dishes. We ordered Mango Lassi, Iddli Littles, *Special Indian Bhaji Dosa, *Keerai Cheese Garlic Dosa, *Mysore Chatpata Dosa, Golden Crisp Dosa, and couple other kind of Dosas. We had Kulfi, Mango ice-cream and Gulab Jamun for desert. Each item was so tasty and truly felt that cook had put his heart into making them. I highly recommend this place to anyone interested in great Indian food… I will definitely visit this place again.

Awesome, delicious Thali. We ordered indian Thali and we were amazed with what all dishes kept coming to our table. Started with starters Samosa, pakora, Cabbage Salad and then coming to main course which had 3 variety of indian vegetarian entrees and I loved the Kadi. Butter milk (chaas) was soothing.Different kind of roti was perfect companion with curry. Of course rice was also there. I just loved food.I did overeating and after that I was not able to walk..lol. And on top of it Service was great. No Dessert :( ...It was the only missing thing. I would definitely recommend it.

Ridiculous portions, prices and Very poor service..Chutney portions are good enough for just licking!! The dosa portions are so bad that a person will have to spend $30 or more to eat satisfactorily. The service is so poor that the server brings in chutneys after we were almost done with dosas. No wonder because the portions are just for tasting!! There are better places to eat authentic south indian food...or if youve so much money, please go spend elsewhere...this place is not at all worth

A year back, this was a great place with Authentic Food, great service and friendly Staff. The Quality has gone down and Prices up. Its expensive and most items on the menu seem to be straight from the Freezer and warmed before serving. The Person waiting on us seemed addicted to the TV and was in no mood to even give the menu not on a weekday but Sunday afternoon. Its sad to see Sankalp which showed great promise two years back to go this bad in just 24 months. A real shame.

My husband and I come here for a lovely spread when we are craving Indian cuisine and each time it is delicious and filling. Almost always get the lamb byrani, butter chicken, garlic and onion kulcha (naan), masala (potato) dosa, Palak Paneer, tandoori chicken, samosas and more. Mango Lassi is so good here too...definitely recommend this place! Great owner, met him when he owned a different location and moved...glad we found him by accident again!

MY PARENTS WENT THERE AND SAD THERE WAS A NEW OWERSHIP. FOR USE WE ARE JAIN AND USE TO HAVE JAIN OPTIONS KNOW THEY DONT. THERE WAS NOBODY THERE AT DINNER TIME AND OS USUALLY PACKED WITH GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE. MY MOM HAD A PLAIN DOSA AND WAS VERY COLD. MY DAD HAD A MASALA DOSA COLD ALSO. THE FOOD QUANTITY IS VERY SMALL. WITH BARELY ANY CUSTOMER SERVICE. THERE USED A OTHER OWNER AND IT WAS THE BEST PLACE TO EAT DOSA AT NOW THE PROGRESS IS POOR.

First and foremost, the food was delicious. No question about it. I ordered the lamb curry and was noy disappointed. Now, the ambiance is dull, the restaurant itself could use a thorough cleaning, and my glass was rather dirty. Order takeout and be blissfully unaware, or dine here for yourself. Its a shame as they actually could throw down in the kitchen. Now if they could only throw down with some Palmolive Id give then 5-Stars!

Ordered wada sambhar, Dahi wada to begin with. Wada was super soft however sambhar was average. Not incredible special sambhar but still did not spoil the taste. Dahi wadas Dahi was too thin. Overall I would rate 6 out of 10 for the food. Dosa had options but was too oily. They made it crispy as per the order. Try spicy andhra Dosa. Overall it is a nice place for South Indian food. Nothing fabulous but you wont complain either.
