I visited this place on a Saturday evening, it was recommended to me by a colleague. There was about a 1 hour wait, which I spent at the Silli Kori restaurant next door. Once seated, we were promptly attended to, and we ordered a round of cocktails & apps. The #2 Cup Royale (Leatherbee Moonshine, Coconut & Banana) was good on taste, but I felt it had a little too much ice. The Mango Lassi with Bacardi was excellent. For apps, we had the lamb dumplings, delicious, but portioned strictly for one person. The keema paratha was however both delicious and plentiful, and can easily be shared by a party of 3-4. For mains, we had the Hot Chicken, Butter Paneer, and Chicken Tikka Kathi Roll. All were excellent. The Kathi Roll has a rather large portion. We also got the special beer called the "Dressed Hamms", "Dressed" meaning covered in hot sauce and garnished with a lemon wedge. I felt the hot sauce made for a very interesting drink. All in all a great meal, good drinks and cozy ambiance. Definitely coming back again!

The food is good, but moderate as far as the Indian food Ive had. Its anglo-indian, so, British style Indian food. The eggplant curry is excellent, and the other dishes Ive had here were all decent to average. Lets talk about the seating, or the lack thereof. It almost brought this review from 4 stars down to 3. The restaurant is seat yourself, and its a very busy spot. Ive been there twice now with a group of 4, and many of the bigger tables were taken by couples. Because those are 4 person tables, there isnt even a possibility to share. The communal tables at the center help, but dont resolve it. I get what theyre trying to do, I just think that it leads to a lot of standing around and waiting for groups of three or more. The cocktails are good. Theyre on the sweet side, in keeping with the ethos of the restaurant, but they complement the food well. I didnt try the cider, but thats a specialty here.

I really enjoyed this meal! We ate at the bar. We had the salt cod samosas. They were crisp on the outside, soft in the middle and not greasy. I loved loved loved the gobi (cauliflower). It was fried, spicy and sweet. Then we had the eggplant curry. It was spicy but gets cooled off with the accompanying yogurt. Finally we had their hidden dessert, a naan donut with chai caramel sauce. It is not really a donut. It actually tasted like a pretzel by texture (a bit crunchy on outside soft within the twists and bursts of salt particles). Drinks were good and priced very reasonably... house gin and tonic is different, get if you like pineapple. I enjoyed the Royale Cup #2 with scotch and had a citrus tangy weisbier that cut into richness of the dishes)

This place is a perfect for snacks and drinks. The pub style Indian food is amazing. There are a few booths but most of the seating is communal. I dont mind it though because it puts you on the edge of interesting conversations. The Gobi Manchurian is quite possibly the best cauliflower dish I have ever tasted. It is the perfect combination of sweet and sour with a little spicy kick. The beer list is extensive and if you dont feel like one of the 20+ beers they have on tap, their cups are cocktails that are variations on a Pimms Cup that are tasty and reasonably priced as well.

I really hate to give this place 1 star, but I must. I like the ambience of the place, the music, beer selection (to some extent)....the service is just awful. Seriously, when I am eating a burger and my beer is gone, do you really want me to point it out to you??? And then wait 10 minutes??? While you chat with the fellow coworkers and ignore the very people that pay your bill? The food is average, which is also disappointing, I feel like it has gotten worse over the last few months. Great concept for a pub, very poor execution. I am done with this place.

Having just got back from 3 weeks in England. This place is very authentic. I did not know before I went that almost all British pubs you go to serve Indian food. This one serves some FANTASTIC food. Try the lamb dumplings at $8 for 4 of them I would normally say not worth it. Clearly I feal different about these. I also had the mussels very good. The service was spot on and the vibe was nice. Most of the places where dead around there and this place was full by the time we finished. Clearly others feel like I do.

Wow. The food here blew my mind. We ordered a lot and EVERYTHING was amazing. Like EVERYTHING. After indulging in an amazing lunch, I promptly fell asleep in my car. The food is British Indian pub food - and writing this review is making me crave it all over again. You cant go wrong with the Butter Chicken, Lamb Dumplings, Salt Cod Samosas, Palak Paneer, or the Royale Fries. Try one of the specials, Im sure it will be amazing!!!

This is by far the most unique bar i have visited in the Chicago area. The overall vibe of the place was something hard to even explain. It was laid back but a little upscale, but at the same time a drink feature is Hamms which is the lowest class of beer available so, again, unique experience. I did enjoy myself here though and would definitely be up to try it again when I am in the market for more than just a drink or two.

Great unique addition to Division Street which is experiencing a lot of turnovers. Enjoyed the Gobi Manchurian and Samosas. The Eggplant Curry was a small serving for the price and bland. The Garlic Naan added the salt it needed though. Service was a little off but that could just be the hipster vibe of the staff. Too quick to take away dishes. Not as friendly/personable as a fun place like this should be.

The beer list is excellent. The ambiance and service is very good. I prefer soft and chewy pillowy naan. The garlic naan was very thin, not chewy, coated with flour and not flavorful. My hot chicken was burned. And even if the chicken hadnt been blackened, it lacked flavor. The server was very accommodating, but the naan and chicken left a bad taste in my mouth.

We had a great time at Pub Royale. They have a well-stocked bar and the staff is friendly and attentive. Our server was always smiling and helpful with any question. The food is also very good. We had Samosas and Gobi Manchurian very tasty and just the right amount of spices. TIP: We were there on a Sat and food was not available until 5pm. But well worth the wait.

A gem we just stumbled along in Wicker Park. Lovely Indian-themed decor and food to go with it. The gobi manchurian did not disappoint but cant speak to the rest of the menu. The cocktails, especially those made with the house brand Pimms cup, were refreshing and delightful, though the mango lassi was a little heavy on the rhum flavour.

This place does not deserve your business. From the staff to the manager, everyone has been EXTREMELY rude, agressif, arrogant. Adam, the manager treated my friends and I with the most condescend attitude. There is so many great places in Chicago-Pub Royale is not one of them.
