I just had breakfast at the Pittsfield cafe and it definitely was the pits.
I overheard my server loudly complaining to the other staff about someone sitting on the edge of her chair, and explaining that she would just like to kick that chair right out from under her and continuing on a rant about kids these days.
I thought that the conversation was a little off, but assumed she was talking about someone she knew and tried my best to ignore it. She disappeared back inside only to emerge triumphantly moments later proclaiming I did it

Just finished a lovely order of apple pancakes and eggs here at the Pittsfield Cafe! Step through the doors of 55 E. Washington and step back in time to this art-deco gem of a place located in the interior ground floor courtyard of the Pittsfield Building! Theres seating in the indoor courtyard of the building and also old-fashioned counter service inside the cafe! Come for a cup of coffee or a complete meal! Its got your traditional breakfast favorites, but also open for lunch or a late afternoon dinner. The ambiance is wonderful here.... it is quiet enough to work, but social enough to enjoy the people watching! The final icing on the cake is the free wifi as long as you can sleuth the super secret password, pittsfieldcafe.

Very convenient location if youre in the loop. And the fact that its located in a historic building is a plus. The service was very quick. I ordered the American skillet which came in less than 5 minutes, and it was Saturday morning with a packed house. $9.99 for a skillet with toast. Prices seemed ok. Portion wasnt the biggest Ive had but I still left full. Only reason its 4 and not five stars is portion size. Id go back though

For the price AND location, this place is 5 stars. My steak was a little tough but for 10 dollars Ill have it all day with hash and eggs over easy. I got the bloody mary to go with it and it was just about the perfect breakfast after a long overnight shift. I havent had anything else but the noises coming from the kitchen and the busy staff tells me this place goes to work to bring you the goods.

Food was ok, average things you can find pancakes omelets eggs fresh orange juice and Cafe BUT was is different is the so unpolite and bad waitress. Found strange why Yelp ranked well, the rating should indicate food and service levels not just an overall grade. The reason i didnt give 2 was because the Gourmet sandwich had cucumbers wich was interesting combination.

Stopped in recently for Bfast. The service was swift, coffee and food excellent. Attention to the guest is commendable. I felt well taken care of. Coffee refills came without my requests. The only weird thing is the restroom downstairs with a school-like hallway keychain. It will make you laugh.

A very good cafe inside the historic Pittsfield building. Have only been here for lunch but the food has been excellent. The staff here is great. Gets pretty busy during the lunch hour. If you are into building architecture definitely check this cafe out and eat in the outside seating area.

Found this place after being told there was a 2 hour wait at Wildberry. This place is 5 minutes away from Wildberry. Its kinda hard to find since its inside a building. The food was good and priced reasonably. Service was great too. Cant go wrong at this little gem.

What can I say about this place...amazing setting in an old building, the pittsfield café almost has a secretive feel to it since you do not see it from the road side. The decor inside the building is from the early 1900s. Great food for a really good price. Loved it.

Went in for lunch on a Friday. We encountered very disinterested and inattentive staff and food that was plain and boring. Wait staff sat chatting or watching tv almost constantly. Unimpressed by the mediocre food and disappointed by the lack of service.

One of the best kept secrets of Chicago. Its a greasy little diner inside a giant building. Theres apparently a sign outside but it wont catch your eye. Cash only but totally worth the trip to the atm. Order the gypsy and dig in.

This is a great little cafe with the typical diner fare. Very stable, predictable and yummy. The setting in an old historic building makes it special. Ive taken out of town visitors here for a budget meal - everyone enjoys it!

No wait and great food. Make sure to go right up to the host to be seated rather then just walking up to a available teat outside because if I would have done that I would have had to wait at least 10-15 minutes for a table.

I went here for breakfast on a Tuesday and it was nice that it was quiet. The waiters were very friendly and there is a great atmosphere. The food was really good, I ordered the croissant with bacon and it was very tasty.

This place is a hidden gem. I recommend the avocado skillet! Sitting in the cafe is a nice escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. Ive been here well over 30 times and the service has always been impeccable!

The only problem was a substitution not made, but Teresa quickly righted the issue by having the kitchen remake the meal as a to-go order. Extremely polite staff and delicious breakfast. Wed go back!
