Nope. No no no no no. I had to try this place twice to make sure I disliked eating here to warrant this review. The first time I tried it...was last year. I vowed never to come here again...well looks like I broke that vow so maybe vows arent my thing I guess. I stopped by here for lunch because I forgot how the dim sum and food tasted. I have been told that this place is the cats meow for dim sum in the north side and I only wish this was true. I got the lunch special here for the sweet and sour pork along with a few dim sum menu items. The pork could have just been labeled sweet and sour breading as the massive amount of breading was all I ate. I even dissected a couple to make sure it wasnt just a fluke for the first few bites and yes, cheap and sour pork. The pork also had a slightly metallic tinny taste, wasnt too fond of it. On a side note, all the utensils and plates had food crusted on it but hey, that really doesnt matter to me, just the food. The dim sum was no fun at all. The "fun noodle" and shumai were the items I ordered. The beef noodle tasted sour, slightly rotten, and had way too much of a citrus taste to it. The shumai tasted like it came out of a freezer bag of shumai. Or to be a little more objective, it tasted as if the fish was slightly rotten and had a odd freezer burned taste to it. I really did try to have an open mind here while eating, I love dim sum. In fact, it is my favorite kind of breakfast. If you want dim sum that tastes fresh try seafood palace which is only a few blocks away. Or just go anywhere else. I am really not always this unreasonable (unless it is Korean food). The good: the prices are reasonable. The not so good: their dim sum. Maybe it just isnt good on the weekdays.

I have never been compelled to write reviews for a resturant but I dont want others to have to suffer Furama. I live in the neighborhood and had eaten at Furama a couple times with Friends. The food was OK at best. The best things were sweet and sour chicken. The egg rolls tasted off but we chose to come back because they had a huge resturant with meeting rooms. My freinds and I decided to have our monthly meetings on the second floor at Furama because the rooms were big, we could get a buffet and its really close to public transportation. The resturant was initially interested until they realised that we actually had people at our meetings. We brought in around 50 people and spent over $600 for the past two or three months. The staff was crabby. The food was never setup on time no matter how many times we called AND went into the resturant to confirm things. And, the food was not very good at all. Actually, it was terrible. We wanted to have a nice place for people to gather and give business to a local resturant. We have been so turned off by Furama that many of us, people from our meeting included, have sworn off Furama for good.

I am chinese and eat chinese food very very often, this includes Dim Sum. My family, friends, and I have always come to both Furamas (North and South) for years and have always been more than satisfied. Chinese restaurants are notorious for, shall we say "harsh" service. I think the comedian Margaret Cho summed it up the best with her impression of a chinese waitress taking your order in a chinese restaurant, "Yeah, Waat you want?". However offensive this may seem, I think it really adds character to a place. People have paid to eat at places where actors are hired as wait staff to ACT rude (Ed Debevics, Dicks last resort); at a chinese restaurant youre getting the REAL thing;) That being said, if you can just suck it up, there is a lot to be enjoyed at Furama. I love the Sunday Dim Sum, no one does spare rib tips, chicken feet, and sweet bbq buns better. They hand make all of their pork filled dumplings for Sunday. Finally, if you do decide to try them out order their Chyrsanthemum tea with Chrysanthemum crystals...its so delicous and you wont find it anywhere else. Enjoy!

August 13-2016 We were there for a friends wedding upstairs at the banquet: the service were very very slow , the place were so dirty especially the bathrooms, the foods were OK too much MSG Waitstaff look like theyre always in a hurry never stop and listen to what you asking for or would say: its not my station of services!!! And very rude , owner and manager seems not to care or train their STAFFS ? We still dont understand why families still GOING there for their weddings or Events ? Then a month later we were at CAI SEAFOOD banquet and Restaurant in Chinatown on Archer st for another friend wedding : OMG what a turn out like night and day .. at CAI the services were excellent from the beginning to the end of our friends special wedding day there ... we ended to tips the waitstaff extra money for their service...later on I found out that Furama was charging more each table then CAI seafoods in Chinatown...from now on our friends ever having a wedding banquet at FURAMA on Broadway we will find an excuse not to go back there ...

Looking for authentic, tasty Chinese food in Argyle? Look no further than Furama. It serves up Chinese cuisine that rivals some Chinatown restaurants. Yes, its that good. The other plus point is that Furama serves Dim Sum till 8:30pm. Which is awesome if you feel like having Dim Sum for dinner. The dishes tasted really good, not overly sweet or salty but seasoned just right. The meats were tender and the vegetables crunchy and fresh. I guess it helps that Tai Nam supermarket is just opposite. A useful tip: If you cant make it the restaurant but still crave their food, you should call them to place your order instead of doing it online. The online menu is limited and may not have everything you want. The next time you visit Furama, be sure to ask them for their take out menu and they might even give you an older menu, which is a good thing, because you can order "special" dishes that are not on the current menu :)

If I could have reviewed this place with 0 stars, I would. Im Asian, from California, and know good asian food. My husband and I have been looking for a good dim-sum place since we came to Chicago; we are still on the hunt. The only plus about this place would probably be the amount of space the restaurant has. -The decor is dated and cheesy looking. -My tea cup and spoon both had leftover food/tea that had not been properly cleaned. -I had the imperial shrimp and it had absolutely no flavor whatsoever. That in itself is a skill. -They had the worst shumai dumpling I have ever eaten in my life; thats pretty bad. -The beef noodle was also flavorless. -The rolled custard was the only part of the meal that might have been salvageable had it not also lacked flavor. Overall, disappointing...never to return...will continue searching.

The food was fairly good, but nothing special. The menu offers a good selection of dim sum, as well as dishes such as roasted meats. One dish I would recommend is the warm tofu with honey dessert. Prices are reasonable, but comparable to other places with better food. Staff are largely friendly and helpful, and the restaurant is spacious and clean. Close proximity to Argyle L station, which makes it a good alternative to those who live in uptown and dont want to trek all the way to Chinatown.
