Fabulous local establishment on Chicago Ave. There arent a whole lot of bars in this area, so Five Star has been a default for myself and local friends for a bit, but were really not too upset given their awesome food, great specials, and tasty manhattan shots. Order a BOWL of the veggie chili. You will not be disappointed. Sometimes they have random shows and burlesque performances; count yourself lucky if you walk in on one of these days!

Despite several reviews, I would recommend the food here, especially the burgers on Sundays because theyre 1/2 off. I personally think theyre pretty good. You shouldnt be comparing them to Lockdown or Kumas, but for a normal bar they server tasty beef. The music and the atmosphere is also great, good music, good beer selection, a pool table in the back, and, what I refer to as a Stripper pole in the smaller seating area in the back.

Not sure Id come back here for food, but the beer selection is quite satisfactory. What I love is that they have a very big back room with a pool table where you can play free pool on Tuesdays. Also, the art wall in this room is amazing. Theres also a pretty posh private back room that has a pole in the middle of it. Its in a nice location, and doesnt get too crowded. One big star for very friendly servers and attentive food runners.

Great beers on tap (big presence by local breweries), rockabilly decor, friendly waitstaff. Usually good music and not too loud, TVs are a decent size but not overwhelming -- makes it a good spot to meet up with friends. HOT TIP: get the burger special on Sundays -- some wacky/interesting variations, and you can substitute a turkey burger for any of them. Get the housemade corn-based salad dressing!

They should change their name to Three Star Bar because thats all Im giving them. With all the bars you can go to in the area, nothing makes me want to go out of my way to get to this one in particular. Everything was pretty standard. On a few occasions I went there, they failed to keep enough inventory in terms of the specials for the night. I felt like I for the bait and switch.

I really loved going here -- very electic group of people -- especially young adults. The food is really awesome -- quite different from the normal bar food. They have drink specials there -- i tried the spiked lemonade -- really delicious!!! Great place to go with a group of friends. You can also sit out in the patio to eat and maybe people watch as well.

Found hair in my green tomatoe fries. I ask the waitress for my bill. Her comment was, " what about the food you order" I politely ask for the manager. Manager gives me the bill for my drinks that never made it to the table yet. I paid and left them a tip of 1.21 plus the drinks. Maybe they need to rename the place 1/2 star bar with hair in your meals.

Great food, great atmosphere. I visited here during the hecticness that was St. Patricks Day and the wait staff was so nice and very accommodating. We actually went to eat, not drink. So, I would recommend their hummus platter or chicken strips. Though, the chicken strips is a pretty hefty platter, definitely getting the bang for your buck.

This is definitely one of my favorite bars in the area. The staff is so friendly, the bar is always well-kept, and the washrooms clean. This is one of the stops on the famed Chiditarod shopping cart race. Be sure to check that out, if you are ever in the neighborhood for it. Cash/card accepted, accessible, and above all-- tasty.

This place is amazing! I have been here several times, each trip I have made it a point to try something different on the menu whether it be a beverage, appetizer, or meal. I have never been disappointed! I absolutely recommend Five Star to anyone, especially vegetarians as they have great options every day!

This is my absolute go to place for fish tacos. They have hands down the best tacos, way better than big star. The atmosphere here is good, a nice place to go on a weeknight, the weekends get pretty busy. Side-note theres a stripper pole in one of the back rooms if youre feeling squirly.

Five Star Bar gets five stars because it has good service and a good low-key vibe. The place is usually busy on weekends and there is only one pool table that is hard to get. The staff is fast and friendly. It is a good place to hang out with some friends on a casual night out.

Food is excellent. Corn dogs, chipotle shrimp and the California burrito are all good choices. Wednesday is wing night and well worth getting there early to grab a seat. People are friendly, staff is fast. All and all a good time and a decent haunt.

Awesome bar with a hearty and creative menu. Most places have daily specials that leave you wishing you were there a different day of the week but theres not one special here that you wont want. Wing Wednesday is the dopest day of the week.
