I had been really skeptical about ordering food from this place for a long time. I found myself in a crunch for time and to tired to fix dinner for my family so decided Id give it a try because I was already parked right in front and may I add the parking around there is beyond horrible. Initially when I walked up to the counter, there was a lady sitting doing some paperwork, but still by my standards she didnt acknowledged me in a timely manner. As I was about to say excuse me, do you see me standing here she asked me could she help me....hum not a good first impression but decided to give her a hard pass on that. I ordered not expecting much more from the food but was pleasantly surprised to find the food and I mean everything delicious! I will be going back and I just want to add when my order was ready the lady had a better customer friendly type of attitude.

This Kenwood restaurant may be short on looks, but it is big on consistently delicious meals and great customer service. As a vegetarian, I really like the fact that they offer meals where the customer gets to choose the protein of their choice, mine is often tofu. My favorites are veggie fried rice, veggie egg rolls, ma po tofu, and the fresh fruit smoothies. Being in walking distance, having late hours and delivery make a mainstay for me and my friends. My only wish would be for the dining room to be more appealing. Alas, because I live so close, I simply do takeout.

Wow, what can I say. Truly amazing food here at DeRice, very fast and cheap as well! The owners are very modest mom and pop-esque, with smiles all day, every day! I can honestly say that as an Asian American born and raised in the South Side, their food surpasses that of all other Chinese, nay, ASIAN restaurants in all of the Hyde Park/Kendwood area. Would highly recommend to any one hungry and looking for a healthy, delicious meal. Delivery is blazing fast, too! Look them up on GrubHub!

Best Chinese restaurant. High quality food at reasonable prices. Salt and pepper shrimp- awesome Chicken with orange peel- great Fried rice Jumbo shrimp- good Twice cooked pork -Spicy version - good. Szechuan plate beef- not for me Curry flavor plate shrimp - not for me Mapo tofu - no good. Tofu tasted sour sometimes Smoothies: Kiwi- real fruit Honeydew - real fruit Strawberry - flavored

If you like amazing rice, reasonable prices, and diarrhea, then this is the place for you! I ordered this for lunch yesterday for delivery, and it came at reasonable time/price. it gave me some intense diarrhea but because it was so delicious I ate the leftovers for dinner, even though I knew it would give me the didis again. You decide.

This place is becoming horrible, I have been coming here for years and now the food is worse, they never get the order right, and the service is horrible I just got hung up on, when trying to confirm my order, these people are very disrespectful and inconsiderate, I will never eat at this place even again, EVER!

I absolutely LOVE getting my crab rangoon and honeydew melon smoothies from here! The staff is very nice, and dining in is also a great experience, considering that they have a big screen TV for your watching enjoyment right in the restaurant.

Compared to other Chinese takeouts in Hyde Park, or Chicago in general, this one wipes the floor with them all. Quick, convenient, and very tasty, DeRice is sure to satisfy any craving for Chinese or Japanese. Not to mention the low prices!

Great tasting Orange Chicken and fast service. However, there isnt really a comfortable place to eat at the restaurant seems as though take out is preferred but that is fine with me. Best orange chicken in town, by far.
