A really amazing collaboration of bike shop and café! Yes, there is a bike shop and a café, in the same place. Beautifully arranged and decorated. Clean and welcoming. Lots of space to chat, with a few spaces to nestle in with a laptop and get some work done. Located right under train tracks, you can hardly notice their passing and going. Its a great place to meet friends, chill out, or to buy a bike or get one repaired!

I love coffee and I love bikes, so Ancien is a good combination for me. The bikeshop has some really cool bikes, and they fix bikes in less than 10 min for really cheap! I really like their coffee, but Ive noticed that the cups they give are way too small for the amount I pay. Also I got the Avocado sandwich there once and it was expensive and tiny. In general its a cool spot, just dont go there if youre really hungry.

Came into the shop in between classes in a rush and talked to Renall at the counter. I asked about a part, and even though I was last in line, he helped me out immediately. Delivered the part I needed to UChicagos campus later that day in person! Super friendly staff and extremely helpful. 5/5 for sure!

Came in today with my bike in a very sad state of disrepair and left the shop with it riding smooth as glass and sparkling like a diamond. Renall worked efficiently but also made the time to joke around with me -- that guy is chill as hell. It was my first time going and I would definitely go back!!!

This is the worst bike shop i was strung along for 14 weeks after promised 6-8 weeks on a custom bike. i was going to spend 13,000 on which i put down a 5,000 deposit. I was supposed to meet with the owner and was blown off on more than one occasion. Do not go here.

Split the avocado toast and a lox bagel, and both were good. Its a bright place with a relaxed feel. I enjoyed looking at the bikes for sale between chapters of my book. Being under the Metra tracks is kind of neat; not distracting when a train passes over.

This is my favorite place to get chai in Hyde Park. They make their own chai and not from the box. Theres nice place to sit/study/chat. Chocolate (nutella?) croissant also delicious. Oh, and theres a bike store attached too.

I like the fact that Ancien is trying to bring a viable bike option to the neighborhood, however, they are not firing on all cylinders. They really need to take the bike side of the business more seriously.

Their coffee wasnt good. And the espresso station looked quite dirty. I dont think Im coming back for a cup of coffee. Also, the cups (Styrofoam) are not environment friendly.
