Updated review (5 stars) This is the only place in town with good twice cooked pork. If you dont order that dish, you are missing out. Their garlic egg plant and green bean beef also deserve a mention as excellent dishes. Prices have risen somewhat since my previous review but it is still very good. Best place to get good quality chinese food on campus IMO. Old Review (5 stars) Good food. I go here with my Chinese friends fairly often (Im American) to get food. Good food and average price.

Really awesome Chinese-Taiwanese food . For the authentic taste you cant go wrong here. They have 2 menus which some of the more traditional dishes like 3 cup chicken , salt and pepper pork chops etc . The mabo tofu is awesome and spicy. They have awesome big shrimp dishes which I love. Its a family own place so they do have to close one day every 2 weeks. After 6 years of being opened this place still has consistent taste and quality in their food.

This restaurant is setup similar to a restaurant in Taiwan where you would go to get home-style cooking. The service may be off putting to westerners not used to this style of service. I love all the traditional dishes that I used to love in Taiwan and now can have. Especially the spicy intestine with duck blood and sour cabbage dish (my all time favorite), but not for the faint of heart. Cant wait to go back and try something different.

I have eaten at Lai Lai many times. It is, as far as I am concerned, the best Chinese restaurant in the UIUC area. The service is fast and the portions are pretty large for the price. Tea is included and accommodations can be made for parties of pretty much any reasonable size. Whenever I have family in the area, we go to Lai Lai wok. I would recommend the General Tsos Chicken and the Salt and Pepper Squid.

Great, authentic cantonese and taiwanese flavor. Truly surprised that Urbana-Champaign would have some truly great Chinese food (being native Chinese). Great Basil Beef/Chicken and Taiwanese-style Porkchop over rice and Chicken cutlet over rice. Check out Mandarin Wok across the street as well for some of the best Beef Noodle Soup.

Decent place for Chinese food. A bit more upscale than other Chinese restaurants in the neighborhood, both in terms of food quality and price. Cant go wrong here. Taiwanese style salt and pepper chicken is a personal favorite. Also recommended are the Chilli Chicken pot, bokchoy, and eggplant with szechuan garlic sauce.

I approve. I had the sesame chicken and shrimp w. broccoli. These guys are unlike the other chinese restaurants on campus. I think they make a lot healthier food rather than say Cravings. And you definitely get the bang for your buck. I can barely finish their "small" meal. All in all, I approve.

Decent Chinese restaurant, and above-average to good Chinese food. If youre feeling adventurous, try the crispy pork intestines. The lady who owns the place is friendly and gives great customer service. Cleaner than the other Chinese places in the area, and prices are also reasonable.

So of the best in Champaign Urbana, the braised beef tendon noodle soup is one of my favorites. It is all pretty darn good Iam a chef by trade it is very authentic. The portions are good sized and the price is not to high. Probably my favorite chinese style place here in the town.

The pan fried green beans are OUTSTANDING! Service isnt the greatest in the restaurant, but items (such as water, napkins) are set out so you can get it yourself. Weve tried many different things off their menu and have not been disappointed with any of it.

Ive liked the food there, but recently I wanted to have just crab rangoon, and they didnt let me sit, coz it was just 3 dollars worth! I found that very cheap and money minded. I might not go there again.. at least till I start feeling better.

I did like Lai Lai. Its not the best Chinese Ive ever had, but definitely the best Ive had in Champaign/Urbana. Cheap food and quick. Only problem is the lack of service if you need that (although this also means no tips = cheaper food).

Great but more on the pricier side for dishes but well worthy the value, especially if you're looking for good authentic Chinese food (not the westernized kind). One of the best in town!

Lai Lai Wok is a very authentic experience, unlike the majority of "Americanized" Chinese restaurants. The building itself is a bit rundown, but the staff are helpful and the food is good.

Lai Lai offers a huge variety of entrees ranging from authentic Chinese to not-so-authentic, but all Ive tried is very good! Prices are good, specially considering the portions are big.

One of the server ignored me because I was assigned to sit at the corner by another server, who took a break from her shift. The food was worse than my expectations.

Mediocre Chinese food, some dishes are good and some are bad, the flavor there is not that good, the service is ok and the environment is dim but not that bad.

The food was tasty. I enjoyed it here. A bit more expensive than cravings, but has larger portion. I tried the Mongolian beef and it was great.
