A great place for barbecue at an unexpected place - attached to an RV park in Cahokia, IL. Really great smoke flavor on the meats (especially the brisket), and heaping plates of food, plus southern-food-inspired appetizers like fried corn nuggets, make this a good stop when youre in the mood for fast and delicious BBQ. The service is hit or miss, but really theres little to it since you order at a register and the food is brought to you when finished. Theres an interesting selection of bottled beers and sodas that changes each time Im in there, so make sure to grab one of those instead of the usual fountain drinks. A nice-sized seating area fills the restaurant, but its often crowded until late; I usually see a few tables that arent cleaned off, but thats due to the nature of the type of service you get. No-frills-BBQ at a good price, worth the drive from the city!

My family stays at the RV park associated with the Sawmill frequently when they come to the area to visit family. I fell in love with the pork steak. I have been back 4-5 times and enjoyed it every time. By the way...They only prepare so many ribs and pork steaks...so dont miss out! They have a lot more to offer than just pork steaks. My family will attest to that - chicken tenders, ribs, brisket, bbq nachos, turkey, fries, slaw, okra, onion rings, beans, corn nuggets, etc. My family especially enjoys the homemade chips. The Sawmill uses hickory wood to smoke their meats. Excellent choice of wood.

Continued from RV park analysis: pork is delectable and the atmosphere is casually exceptional. Off brand soda pop I passed on (didnt need any so no comment, plus digestive protectionism) but tea/lemonade very suitable for a 50/50 (whether half sweet or pulling the classic Arnold trick, and my Dads a golf nut so of course it clicks).

Ate at the Sawmill BBQ recently and it was so good! I was visiting from Texas and felt this BBQ was comparable to our BBQ here. The brisket, green beans, potato salad and Sawmill salad were delicious. Service was also excellent. Extremely friendly and helpful - totally on the ball. Would definitely recommend!

A delicious hidden gem. It was the day after Christmas. I stopped in late afternoon. They were closing earlier than usual. The meat was not as juicy as Id expect but had a wonderful flavor. I will definitely make a return trip during a regular business day.

Has the 2 meat platter with Smoked Turkey and Pork. Smoke flavor was just right. 4 different sauces to choose from. The sweet and the hot BBQ sauce is made in house and is the perfect addition to the meat. Great food at a great value.

We went and got some brisket and a few sides. My mother said that the potato salad was the best shed ever had before. The brisket was cooked perfectly and pulled apart easily. All in all a good place to go.

Get the half chicken or the pork steak over the weekend. Nom! Burgers are gigantic. Ribs are thick. Everything is cooked, smoked, fried to perfection.
