I really like Soul Food, and am always eager to trying new places. Needless to say, I was not entirely pleased with this place. It took my awhile to find it because my GPS took me to a completely different location. The restaurant could definitely use some cleaning. I also noticed that the guy that was serving the food was NOT wearing gloves. What was even more disturbing was the fact that he walked off after making a plate, left outside of the restaurant for a minute or so, came back in and didnt wash his hands. He just squirted on some hand sanitizer and started serving up the plates again. Now as far as the food, Ive had better. Im not sure if the meals of the day change everyday, but there was a small selection of food. I ended up getting the turkey wings with macaroni and cheese and collars greens. The wings were warm by the time I got back to my girlfriends house (she lives less than 10 minutes away). The collard greens tasted a little off, but other than that the just needed a little salt. Same for the mac and cheese. Since there arent too many other Soul Food places in the area, this would have to do. However, Ive definitely had much better. I will say that the lady at the cash register was extremely nice (as all the staff I met were) and told me that if I had any problems with the food to come back. I didnt have any problems really, it all just couldve been made better.

My husband and I are in the area on a business trip. Tired of the chain restaurants, we went in search of home cooking. Grannys did not disappoint! The flavoring is out of this world! And the mac and cheese is some of the best Ive ever tasted! My husband had the liver and onions and I could tell he loved it by the way his face just relaxed into the savory flavor! I had a vegetable plate of cabbage, green beans and onions, squash and mac and cheese. The cabbage still had a crispness to it even though it was in its own broth. The folks were so nice and hospitable! I could go on and on about this place but my advice is to just try it! Well definitely be visiting again before we go home!

I love this place. Ive only been about 4 to 5 times only because Im away at college but each and every time I go, Im never disappointed. The mac and cheese is too die for. They take pride in their work and you can tell by the taste of the food as well as the customer service. Every time I go, Im always greeted as soon as I open the door. They have fantastic customer service and the place is SPOTLESS. I cant wait until my next break from school, Grannys will be the first place I stop as soon as I get off the highway. This place is a MUST TRY. (Make sure you try the baked chicken also, its the BEST)

If I was basing this review on appearance alone then I would have given it a two. My husband and I went there earlier this evening and by the look of the food it had been sitting there for a minute. Because we werent from the area we decided to get something from the cook to order menu, which were fried pork chops. We had them with the black eyed peas and collard greens. With that being said the taste of the food is reason why Granny got a four. The food was really good, didnt require any added seasoning, was hot and the cakes were delicious.

We loved it !!!!!! we were passing through saw the reviews and had to stop ......best decision me and my woman ever made together. For $38 we got: roasted chicken breast and thigh, field peas, brocolli casserole, candy yams, ox tail with rice, mac and cheese, rib tips, squash, corn, green beans, turkey wings, strawberry cake, lemon pound cake and three pieces of corn bread! The servings were HUGE! WE COULD HAVE FED A FOOTBALL TEAM! the food was great!!!!!

First time and my last time here. The worst food that I have ever had. The mac and cheese was like watery and not consistent. The yams was not cooked through, the corn bread was hard and broke up at the first bite. Mind you I only had a veggie plate because the meat didnt well at all to me.....truly needed a 1/2 star for this place and that was because the server/cashier asked if I wanted more or some sauce over the already undone stuff on my plate......

If you open at 11 am please have your full menu available and not just 2 sides and 1 meat. If you cant make a 11 am deadline then open later when you have it together. I have visited this establishment several times at different times of day and you are always out of something. How are you out of yams at 1 pm when you open at 11 am and clearly the food isnt ready then either. I love the food when I EVENTUALLY get it whenever that is.

I avoid this place because its so good! The food is great and fattening, as soul food should be. The macaroni and cheese is always amazing, the meat selection is good and they are all tasty, and I even like the cornbread when I usually only like my own cornbread. The people are friendly and dont let the location fool you, the food is great! If you dont diet, or like to cheat on your diet, eat here! :)

Highly recommend! Excellent food and service!!! Dined in for the 1st time today. We had ox tails, rib tips, Mac n cheese, cabbage, yams, cheese and broccoli rice and spicy neck bones that would make you want to slap Coach (the cook). Maaaan. Just try it for yourself. If not. Ill be back very soon to eat your portion too. Thank you Grannys Kitchen for the experience today! See you all soon...

Food was good. Customer Service even better. Seating is limited as most guests take their food to-go. The menu is specific for the day with several staple southern side dishes. We dined in near closing and the food was still decent. Try the catfish! Salisbury steak is okay, but the gravy was flavorful. You may request additional sides for an additional fee.

If youre after fancy fusion food, this isnt it. This is honest, high quality, traditional, wonderful food. I had pork chop, black eyed beans and cabbage and it was all amazing. Also scavenged some corn and ribs of my kids plate and it was equally scrumptious. Corn bread was beautiful too. If I lived closer, Id go again and again.. Definitely worth a detour.

This place is EXCELLENT! I visited from NYC and Googled "Soul Food" near my hotel and chose this place because it was the closest and had great reviews. The food was excellent and they show you the meaning of Southern Hospitality. Gave us free samples and desserts to go just because it was our 1st time. Tilapia fish and fried pork chops was my favorites.

These ratings made me believe this was the place to come. No napkins and a funky attitude lol. They didnt have a wide variety of food, and what they did have, nothing was left of it. They had only 3 meats. The taste of the food was just mediocre and nothing special. I advise anyone to either save their money and eat else where or cook at home.
