drastic fantastic

Not sure if I came on an off day but visited Dickens for the first time after being out of the area a couple of years. Was greeted by a pouty-faced girl who just said you can sit over here. It took forever and by no means was the place crowded. We actually could have sat anywhere without Poutys direction as there was only one other party. The food was good but the tea was surprisingly weak . . . Id ordered it before. Turned out they just threw in a bag rather than brewed loose tea which again made me wonder, why the heck did it take so long? Then we kept having to ask Pouty for things: utensils, sugar, you know basic stuff. The only thing Pouty was quick about was getting us the check which was unfortunate as I planned to order scones (like I said, the food was good). Granted, people may generally go to tea rooms for the experience but this was not one we care to repeat. The prices are inflated; the atmosphere was sad, dank, and dead. Doubt that Ill be coming back anytime soon.

We just had a Sunday morning brunch tea for a group of women at the Dickens Tea Room. What a delightful couple of hours. Once you go inside, you feel transported to an authentic British tea room, tea cozies and all. Its a total surprise given the location in a strip mall near TJMaxx/Home Goods. The hostess is just fabulous--complete with authentic Welsh accent. The assortment of "tea sandwiches"--we had turkey with cranberry relish (the real thing, not out of a can or package, cumber sandwiches, of course, and egg salad. The quiches were excellent, as were the scones--small and light. Real preserve and whipped cream, and even instructions as to how to properly drink proper English tea. If youre from the British Isle--youll feel at home. If youre planning a trip there, stop in before you go to get acclimated. If youre just local--plan a party there or just stop by.

Dickens Coffee and Tea Room was wonderful! The atmosphere, food, and service was great. I liked the unique touch of the varying table clothes, fabric napkins, napkin rings, plates, tea cups, and saucers. The tea was delicious and was served with sugar cubes and cream to add. I had the chicken waldorf salad sandwich with a side salad, scones with jam, and various dessert items, all of which were very fresh. The staff members and owner were very kind and they answered my multiple questions regarding what was in the different sandwiches (I am lactose intolerant). Overall I had a great experience, and would highly recommend others to go here. I do believe you need to call ahead to make reservations and I think on Sundays they have private parties (20+ people). This was like a real life, adult tea party that the little girl inside of me always dreamed of. :)

Lovely, couldnt have asked for a better experience. Everything we had was delicious. Sat down to the Ivy Tea, which included tea sandwiches (turkey and cranberry, HEAVENLY!!) Scones that were wonderful, and equally fabulous sweet treats. We drank the Yorkshire Gold (one of their most popular and strongest teas). I think most importantly is that we were made welcome and comfortable. There is no pretension in this tea room. A truly cozy and inviting atmosphere. Both proprietress and staff were kind, conversational and gracious. Cannot wait to go back!

Bad experience...food was bland, not very exciting. Ordered iced tea for my young daughter...it never came. Asked 3 times, and the waitress finally said that we could let her have some of our hot tea and shed bring ice for it....okay.....and then no ice came. Asked 4 times before ice was brought. My daughter didnt like the tea, so we waited to ask for Apple juice....20 minutes, until we were all done and waitress came over with the check...then we finally got something for her to drink...wont be going back, it was disappointing.

The tea, food, service, and atmosphere is just lovely. Strongly encourage reservations as they are always busy - shows you how wonderful they really are. My absolute favorite tea is Yorkshire Gold. Nothing but great things to say about this place, I wish I could make it by there every week.

This is such a cute little tea room with a nice variety of teas. My friends and I came for afternoon tea and ended up staying for hours! The tea sandwiches, cheeses, and scones included in the afternoon tea were such a fun addition to our get together. We will definitely be back!!

Dickens Coffee & Tea Room has a great ambiance with a very intimate setting. The sandwiches are delicious and the staffs are very hospitable. I highly recommend this Tea Room to anyone who’s looking for a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere.
