Definitely your vinegar based Eastern Sauce. Meat is fired under real wood and not one of those smoke boxes that just do not act the same. The service was out standing Kelly, kept the tea glass full and answered all my questions. It is a good local eatery with more than just BBQ... I belong to a group of BBQ experts known as Pig Snobs.. Pig snobs like BBQ one way but will settle for other lessor cuts. A true pig snob likes the red sweet sauce, hickory and oak smoked pulled pork, with a side of okra and corn nuggets. A slice of Texas toast and a large spoonful of slaw to top the sandwich.. This is known as a Carolina. Carolina sandwiches are the very best when they leave a big mess. Dales left this lacking.. but with the onion peels and service... I will come back again and try a burger. The girl at the cash register was to the point and sort of mean. I guess if you say the same thing over and over it gets boring to you but the last impression is the one most people remember. Good thing everything else was better than that. On the Treasure Coast it is like 8th best. Woddys is just a bit better.

Moonswiners is located in a stand-alone building near the intersection of Okeechobee Road and Virginia Road on the north side of Okeechobee. The Adkins family, that also brought you Dales Barbeque, started this restaurant in 1981and their long experience with the pig is evident in the quality of their pork and beef. I recommend the St. Louis ribs and have always received four large, meaty ribs. If you arent that hungry, they offer a "Youngins" plate which has three ribs. You might want to start your meal with corn nuggets or onion petals. The coleslaw is creamy and slightly sweet and the french fries are large size. Chicken, seafood and steaks are also available, and look good on "other peoples plates" but I stick with the ribs, sliced pork and beef slathered with sauce. Part of the joy of a new restaurant is trying different items on their menu and I should take my own advise, but the ribs are so good that I keep re-ordering. Im not above sharing, nor should you be. Highly recommended!

This was my first time visiting Moonshiners. Even though the bathroom was out of order when we first arrived and we had to leave to use the bathroom somewhere else and come back, it just seemed to give the place a chance to clear out a little and we ended up getting a table as soon as we arrived back at the restaurant. The food was amazing and I havent had corn nuggets that good since I was a kid and we ate them from the old root beer stand back in Ohio. If it werent for the issue with the bathroom, the intruding guests at the tables around us who seemed to think it was ok for their kid to turn around and yell in my ear half the time and run around the place and climb on my bench while I ate, and the fact that the server was literally in my space while conducting business with the guests behind me, I would rate this place 5 stars. I will definitely return to give this place another shot at a 5 star rating just because those corn nuggets were that good!

I have been coming here since High School, when it was under a different name. The quality is by far the best I have ever had for BBQ! That sauce is TO DIE FOR! The meals here are consistently tasty and Ive honestly been here about 50 (Update: 75) times. The meat is juicy and the coleslaw is great! This is the type of place where people know your name after a while and treat you as family. The price is phenomenal for the amount of food and service you get. Make sure you get their fresh sweet-tea. My Favorite Place IN THE WORLD. 5 Star! Get the Large Pork Special and a Sweet Tea. Place Coleslaw on top of Sandwich. Enjoy! Update 2017: I have been ALL around FL for BBQ. Moonswiners is still the best value and taste. I have dreams of eating here when I am away.

Theres a long wait at the drive thru, but its worth it. If you like smoked pork or brisket, dont go anywhere else in town. Get the super beef (or pork) combo, sauce on the side. Take that side of coleslaw and just put it right on your sandwich, trust me. Then dump about half your sauce on top of that (save the other half for dipping your fries or onion chips, because ketchup is for chumps). Now take about half your fries or onion chips and put those right on your sandwich too. Drop the bun on top and you now have the single best sandwich in town. Youll need extra napkins. Or jeans. Whatever. Oh and all the ladies working up front are absolute sweethearts, so leave a tip. Dont be "that guy". Ill update with pictures next time I go, which will be soon.

First off...the one star review that claims to have "never bee here so I dont know..." Take your review off! Second, the Pork Special cant be argued with. It is an amazingly priced sandwich with fries, coleslaw, and a drink. The quality and value are perfectly paired. Have I had better BBQ? Yes, when it is made at home and there can be care and love put into every second of a meal for 6. But Moonswiners does their best to pour love into meals for hundreds a day. For those who want the old Dales back, go over to the Dales on US1. For anyone else looking for an awesome BBQ joint with vinegar based sauce and one of the greatest sets of cooks and wait staffs around, come to Moonswiners. And look for the positive moments in your experience.

One of my bikes tasted pretty foul but I thought I would just a small amount. Didnt think it would bother me. Ended up in the emergency room and two days in the hospital. One of my favorite BBQ places here in Fort Pierce! Kinda tucked away on Okeechobee Rd; didnt know it existed until my wife had mentioned the place to me when we were looking for new places to eat. The interior is lovely; the food is great. I almost always get the BBQ Beef Platter with Mac-n-Cheese and BBQ beans; the beans are probably my favorite side. Wish they had potato salad, haha! They have a drive-thru, but the drive-thru menu isnt the full menu they have inside, just a heads up!
