Disappointed is putting it mildly. I came to Fare Well for the first time today and it will surely be the last. When we first walked in we were greeted by the host who was very happy and gave us all a nice smile and a welcome into their restaurant (This is the only nice thing I have to say). She told us it would be a 30 minutes until we were seated so I figured why not have a drink while we wait. I asked the bartender if he could make me a mimosa and he promptly replied no and gave me a cocktail list. I understand if you dont have the components to make a drink but there is a much more polite way you can go about speaking to a guest in your restaurant. I ended up ordering a Hendrix and tonic and asked the bartender if he could garnish it with a cucumber, which is delicious since Hendrix gin is distilled with cucumber and rose water. I got my drink, dropped the "cucumber" in and started sipping. I started to notice an odd flavor I hadnt had before. I pull out the "cucumber" to take a bite and to my surprise its a fat slice of zucchini... Utter disappointment. We finally were seated and our waiter promptly came over and asked us if we were ready to order. There was no hello or warm welcoming from him. He seemed angry and we felt that we were being rushed after standing up waiting for 30 minutes. My stomach wasnt feeling that well and I asked him if he could check with the kitchen if they could just make me a plate of plain potatoes since they had potatoes on other dishes I didnt think it would be to much of a hassle. Especially because all you need to do is put potatoes in a pan then put them on a plate. Simple enough right? Just like the bartender he said "No" , he didnt even take the one minute to go back and ask. His follow up was "are you ready to order". I told him no and to give us a few minutes. He came back after we flagged him down. I decided to just have coffee. The food came out about 25 minutes later. I tried a bite of my friends Chilaquiles Verde and was happy I didnt order. It lacked flavor and spice and the tortilla chips were soggy. So from the front of the house to the back it was terrible. Also where are the managers?? All I saw were a bunch of servers running around like a bunch of chickens with their heads cut off. Food runners asking tables if it was their food they were carrying. Do you not have table numbers and seat positions?? What a joke. I ended up ordering brunch to go from another restaurant and took it home with me. You couldnt pay me to go back here. The only thing that was nice was the warm hearted hostess who welcomed us when we came and wished us a good day on the way out.

Dont let the word "vegan" scare you. Fare Well will be the one restaurant in DC to popularize veganism. Fare Well perfectly crafts their baked goods and food to reach a broader audience. If you want the best food on the south side of H Street NE, stop by Fare Well, from the creator of popular Stingy Fingers in Columbia Heights. Heres what to order: -Burrata to start: You will never know its not cheese (Its made in house from cashews and almonds). Its enough to share! -Burger: Its filling and very tasty and meatless....of course. -Pierogi: Cashew cheddar, garlic, onions....its perfect! -Cookie dough cake: Its amazing! -Monkey bread: Best in DC hands down! Every time I have stopped in, the service is excellent and theres plenty of seating despite having a healthy flow of people. However, twice now Ive witnessed a manager very stressed and yelling at his employees. Everyone has bad days, but its never customer centric to yell at your staff. Other than that, I recommend this place!

Their food is fair. I can definitely make better vegan pancakes at home but they were still enjoyable. The price for the amount and quality of food you get is outrageous. You can tell they jacked up prices because its a niche market. Dont go here when youre hungry; the portion sizes are tiny and you will leave feeling unsatisfied- almost there but just missing it. The food is, while enjoyable, a little bland. They really only get 3 stars from me instead of two because the service is lovely and the atmosphere is very nice. Not quite sad I went there but i wouldnt go again. They need to make their prices reasonable and revamp some recepies. 3 tiny flat vegan pancakes shouldnt be $10 just because they dont have eggs in them. Maybe all resturaunts in that area are like that, I dont know, but I cant help but feel a little cheated when I left. Just a little.

Disappointed. Tried several pieces of cake, they were all very dry. Milkshake was "ok" - was extremely expensive ($8) for something that is the size of a kids portion (not exaggerating here, like a 6oz cup). We complained about the price and portions and the manager said "the ingredients are expensive". For $8 you could buy almost two pints of almond milk ice cream from Whole Foods, so they are full of it. Also had one of the sandwiches and that was a little better than the desserts. Manager didnt really seem to care, and simply said "thank you for the feedback."

Visited this place for the first time yesterday; the food was delicious and the waitstaff was very responsive and nice. I started off with the buffalo cauliflower dip. So good, so flavorful -- who knew you could do that to cauliflower? The cauliflower to bread ratio was a little off, so I had some extra dip left over. At first I thought that was a bad thing, but... I put it on the burger, which was one of the best veggie burgers Ive ever had. It was deliciousssss. Great flavor, great texture, delicious bun -- just yumminess all around. Definitely coming back.

The decor was beautiful and inviting. They also play old school tunes that make you wanna get up and dance! I ordered the seitan and waffles which is the vegan take on chicken and waffles, it was very yummy and filling. The dinner menu is not available until after 5pm so be mindful of that when planning a trip. We were greeted very nicely and taken to our table. Our waitress was very knowledgeable of the menu and helped us all decide on our orders being it was our first time. I would definitely recommend and go back. Its great for brunch, small groups and dates.

The service and dessert that I bought here was excellent. I stopped in about 5 minutes after closing on a Friday. The young woman at the counter was very friendly and cheerfully packaged a slice of the lemon-ginger cake for me despite the fact that theyd already prepped the cases for closing. The cost was a bit steep--$8 for the single slice--but the cake was delicious and moist, and maybe thats to be expected for a vegan-oriented shop. I may or may not return because Im not vegan and it was pricey, but was quite pleased with the service and my dessert.

I decided to go during an off time because I know new restaurants can be a bit hectic in the beginning but they seemed to have it all together! For a place thats only been open a few weeks I was super impressed. The food was delicious (I recommend the buffalo cauliflower dip and the pierogi) and the servers were lovely. Before we had even ordered they were going out of their way by finding a pair of pliers to help my mom get her credit card out of a parking meter (thanks DC). Im sure they get busy during rush time but I still think its totally worth it!
