Azucar Bakery was our first choice when it came to our wedding cake for this past June. We visited the shop on S. Broadway to do taste testings and were sold the instant we tried the gluten-free and dairy-free options. You couldnt even tell a difference and were elated that we could get so close to Paleo for our special event! It didnt hurt that everyone was so friendly and willing to work with our special requests. We chose an 8" gluten and dairy free cake that was chocolate with raspberry filling for our cutting cake and then had half of the cupcakes as "gluten-full" and the other half "gluten-free" to accommodate our guests different tastes. All of the flavors we tried were awesome, but ended up settling on the dark chocolate chip cupcake, the lemon cupcake with raspberry filling, and the carrot cupcake with maple cream cheese filling. Im so happy we went with cupcakes. The display was still elegant and it was so much easier to serve our guests. This also offered them the option to try more than one flavor. We were expecting to pay an arm and a leg for the specialty baked goods, but it was incredibly reasonable. Marjorie did a beautiful job. We noticed that they had other gorgeous cakes when we went to visit the shop and it sounds like they have a woman there that does piping on the cakes and a lot of her expertise comes from doing henna work. Absolutely gorgeous! We highly recommend Azucar Bakery for your upcoming event. The service, professionalism, communication and product were second to none!

unfortunately i had a really bad experience here. we went to an open house and tasted their cakes and ordered one for our daughters first birthday a few weeks ahead. the party was last saturday and i still have most of the cake here even though we had 40 guests, i just had to throw it away, not even the kids wanted it, the design looked cheap, walmart would have done a better job. they printed a picture of what we wanted of the internet (very simple daisies) but i guess that was optional to them. the designs that have online look amazing but not our cake! i wish i could figure out how to put a picture here so you can see what im talking about. but i have to say that the worst part is that the cake was so dry that i looked like and tasted like it was made a week before, it was nothing like what we sampled in the open house. another friend of ours ordered the same cake last week and she had the same experience so it seems like thats how they are, it was not a one time mistake. it is a really cute store and the staff was really friendly, prices are a little high but ok but i guess that if the final product is no good that doesnt matter. it is very disappointing since we put a lot of effort and money in our babys party and the "main" attraction was terrible. specially since we are mostly a group of Argentinian people that were excited to finally have a cake with dulce de leche like we have at home. we also tried the empanadas and were very dry as well. very sad, never again!

Sencillamente delicioso todo lo que hay en esta pasteleria, todo esta hecho de primera la decoracion, los productos, los acabados de los postres y son riquisimos, la atencion es inmediata y atenta por parte de todos los que laboran ahi, y es un lugares muy comodo con su propio estacionamiento, y muy acogedor se ve con mucha luz y el color me encanta de la decoracion de la tienda. Felicito de verdad es un lugar 100% recomendable y los postres se pueden comer ahi o para llevar, el cafe es divino..!!es muy completa para cuando alguien desea degustar un delicioso postre y su cafecito y las tortas muy profesionales para toda ocasion ..bien merecido ***** stars!!

We ordered our daughters first Birthday Cake from Azucar bakery. At first they seemed very attentive and took time to listen to our order. We placed our order about 3 weeks before our party. I left a detailed picture with them along with a sample of colors I wanted. The cake was to be covered in flowers that were very light pastel. The man who took our order made many notes on the picture I gave him. I felt very confident my cake would be perfect and exactly as I had picture it. When I picked up my cake instead of beautiful, light, classy flowers flowing down my cake they were ALL HOT PINK..not even a mixture of colors..just HOT PINK..it was awful!...they worked with me as much as possible and gave me a very small $20 discount.. When we cut the cake and tasted it. I very quickly saw even more mistakes..although the flavor was correct, the yummy cream cheese butter cream frosting that was suppose to be covering my cake was in fact WHIP-CREAM FROSTING... GROSS!!! I will not be using this bakery again.. I paid ALOT of money for this cake and it was nothing better than a grocery store cake..VERY DISAPPOINTED.

Edit: I raised the review up to 3 stars as they did refund us the amount for the cake but it took a few weeks after our complaint. We ordered a baby shower cake with fondant design that we paid a high amount for. The resulting cake that they delivered was very poorly done, shabby work and no attention to detail - nothing like their typical work since we have gotten cakes from them before. King Soopers would have probably done a much better job at a third the price. It was very embarrassing for us to show up with this cake at the party but there was no alternative as we got the cake the morning of the party. After we went back to tell them about this and showed them photos of the cake, they said that they would refund the price of the cake and would send us a check home. This was not about the money as much as showing up a friends baby shower with a horrible looking cake. Safe to say we will not be ordering a cake from them again since they have let their quality slip.Its hard to build a reputation, but extremely easy to tear it down as in this case.

I will take my business elsewhere and never go back. You didnt just lose one costumer but many, because I always bring and refer businesses to my large social circle. Poor, inflexible customer service over the phone and in person. Staff member was clueless and not helpful at all. I guess Azucar doesnt need new customers, because they are "very busy". Please do not advertise you have gluten free and sugar free products, when you have to pre-order these a week in advance, NO EXCEPTIONS. I didnt want cake, which must be pre-ordered a week in advance. I never even found out what other gluten free and sugar free products were available. Whatever they are, everything must be pre-ordered a week ahead. Seriously?! Thankfully, there are several awesome businesses out there which are very busy, have been around much longer, better established than Azucar, but still manage to have outstanding customer service and appreciate, welcome all customers. They also offer a huge variety of delicious gluten free, sugar free products, which are available every day.

I am a local Florist. I have a list of vendors that I recommend to brides all the time. So when it was time for my baby shower I started down the list, tasting cakes from over 25 local cake designers/ bakerys! I happened to be a vendor at an event in Golden when I met Margery and tasted a few of her delicious cakes, after one bite of the Duce de Leche cake I KNEW that it WAS by far THE BEST cake I had tasted. I ordered it asap! When the Shower Day came not only was her clever belly cake design the talk of the party but when my guest finally got to taste it I cant count how many people made comments like; "The cake is soooo good", "Wow, what kind of cake is this its DELICIOUS" and "OMG that cake was amazing" Take it from me a person not only in the wedding industry but who first hand experienced the trials and tastes of finding the perfect cake, AZUCAR BAKERY WINS HANDS DOWN AND WILL FROM NOW ON BE MY GO TO & #1 RECOMMENDATION TO ANY BRIDE OR FOR ANY CELEBRATION!
