I visited Mountain Sun Pub and Brewery last weekend as I heard that it is a raved about by many. This was my first time in Colorado coming from Iowa, and I was excited to check out all the good eats! We arrived at the restaurant on a busy Sunday, and were greeted with big smiles and friendly staff. Ian, our waiter seated us and conversed with my friends and I about where we were coming from, and then told us he was ALSO from Iowa!-- He graciously bought us a round of drinks and also stuck around to talk for awhile. Our other waitress, Heather, was fabulous and SO SWEET! Our food took a little longer than usual and she insisted that they comp our bill! She was also extremely friendly and a lot of fun to talk to. She told us that she grew up in Iowa as well--I swear half the people I met in Colorado came from Iowa. The wait time wasnt even a big concern for us, but they took care of us better than Ive EVER experienced at a restaurant. THANK YOU IAN AND HEATHER for a great first time in Colorado! You have amazing service and a great staff! You know Ill be recommending you guys to all of my friends for a delicious blacked chicken quesadilla, great burgers, and wonderful service!!

Amazing staff! They are so upbeat and friendly. This was our first time there and they explained the menu to us and made sure to tell us that it is a CASH ONLY business. (The menu says local checks with ID) They also told us that there is an ATM with $1 fee. What if that doesnt work for you? They have a KARMA ENVELOPE. Dont know what that is? Go, eat, ask. Now for the food. Great! We started out with the Beer Gravy Fries. They are fresh cut fries and fresh cut jalapeños. So good. Then my daughter had the Chorizo Burger. She loved it. I had the Almond crusted fried goat cheese and strawberry salad. This was a special of the day and special it was. The goat cheese was warm and creamy inside of this almond crust. So good with the spinach and strawberries. I took home a piece of their chocolate cake. Very thick, dense, chocolate, caramel cake. Locally baked from just down the street. We will be back. Did I say the staff was phenomenal?

This brewery was packed on a Saturday afternoon but they welcomed our group of three to visit the bar while we waited for a table. The staff is beyond friendly - they offered unlimited beer samples and even gave us a basket of fries while we waited! The wait only lasted 15 minutes which was impressive given the crowds. We were surprised to learn that Mountain Sun Pub only accepts cash. Even more amazing is their payment policy - they will offer you a stamped and addressed envelop to mail your payment later if you dont have cash. The food was delicious, I devoured every bit of "Tims blackened chicken quesadilla." My favorite beer was the FYIPA. Ill gladly suggest Mountain Sun Pub & Brewery to anyone in the area looking for a good beer and food.

How to describe this place? The staff is the highlight, in my opinion, already ready and willing to make your night fun and memorable. Dont have time to wait for a table? Just go stand at the bar and chat it up with the busy waitstaff and they will happily give you samples and talk to you about the fresh beer Mountain Sun is known for. I always go in without a plan and come away with at least one new friend. Food is good, if not very complicated, but the beer is absolutely great and the selection is just as good. February is Stout Month, so if you want to avoid a crowd (every single night is busy), wait until March. Dont forget to bring cash!

Ive never seen a gap as large between pretense and execution, at least as far as food is concerned. The beer is fine, but with the high claims of quality and sourcing on their food menu, any virtue from the beer is overwhelmed by the appalling product they bring out of the kitchen. Cold "7 grain bread" for sandwiches? Cold hamburger buns? Grilled cheese that tastes, literally, like potato chips (stale white bread, oil, and salt)? All indicators of zero integrity. I might be tempted to say something to management, but this mediocrity is endemic and complaints would only confuse and upset them. Id go back for a beer, avoid the food.

A really cool place, very interesting to say the least. The wait staff was very friendly and very passionate about the restaurant. The food was pretty good and they had a lot of interesting options. Great beer selection. Here comes the best part... it is a cash only restaurant and they do have an atmosphere in the back, and they informed us of all of this when we sat down they also informed us that they also took checks or they sent your bill home with you in a self addressed envelope so that you can mail back a check or money for your meal should you not have a debit card or cash on you. It blew my mind.

We stopped in for a beer - this place was recommended for a "true" Boulder experience. The waitress came to the table and asked what kind of beer we liked. I said IPA for me, and Kolsch for my girlfriend. She ran off and brought back 4 samples for each of us. I ended up with a very tasty Rye beer. I have not had a Rye here in the DC area except for what a friend brewed up himself. We had chips and salsa and guacamole. Service was very good, the value was great, and the beer was excellent. This is a simple place where everyone seemed to be enjoying the beer and food. I highly recommend.

Worst service around. Even the owners cant get it right. I sat next to one of the owners, at the bar while he was hosting. I asked for water and he said someone will be right with you. I asked the next person and they said someone will be right with you...etc, this went on for 3-4 different servers. I have been a customer for 10+ years and have only complained twice, (both in the last 6 months). The service is getting worse and worse. The prices are becoming outrageous and the owners are losing touch. If you want good beer, get it somewhere else!

Really enjoyed this place. Our waiter brought us tons of different beer samples based on our preferences. He just kept bringing samples till we settled on some we really liked. No pressure to make a decision and infact he was encouraging us to try them all. He was also knowledgeable about beer and loved to talk about each brew. The food was also amazing. We had a grilled Buffalo chicken sandwich that was very tasty. The prices were very reasonable and I loved that I could get a half pour. Just remember to bring cash as they dont take credit.

Great beer, food, and artwork. However, the business itself is fallacious. Its always too packed with people, and they dont take credit cards with no sign up front stating so. You walk in, and a sign reads, "Wait list is at the bar." The manager who decided this is a good idea must be missing a chromosome. The way things are handled from that point is so chaotic that its not worth coming back, regardless of the awesome paintings. Go to Walnut Brewery, West Flanders Brewery, or the Sink. Youll have a great time if you do!
