TL;DR - maybe a high 3.5, nice space for studying (outlets, WiFi, easy parking) thats been open for less than a year, but I wish there were more food (or at least snack) options ____________________ CONTEXT: Dropped by to get some studying in on a Tuesday afternoon before meeting some old friends for dinner. Also note that I cant comment on coffee because Im not a coffee person. FOOD/DRINKS - from old photos it looks like they used to serve more food, but now only do sandwiches and pastries alongside coffee and tea. See menu board photo. -- SHAKEN CITRON GREEN TEA ($2.95): Brewed hot and then iced. Looks like its about 12 oz? Pretty good, refreshing for a warm day. -- GRILLED PORTOBELLO SANDWICH ($8): Its a pre-made and packaged sandwich from Aunties Bakery & Cafe (just up the block) that gets warmed up in a toaster oven. Decent flavor with a hearty portobello. I asked what was in it and she pulled one out of the fridge below the counter and let me read the ingredient list LOL wasnt expecting that. It wasnt particularly filling - I wish there were some side options like carrot sticks or even a bag of chips, but the only other food is their pastry selection. Seems like they could think through their food options a little better. Otherwise, just stick to coffee, tea, and pastries!! -- COFFEE CAKE ($3): Ordered this because I was still hungry after eating my sandwich. She offered to heat it up, but Im pretty sure she forgot about it because it sat in the toaster oven for at least 15 minutes haha definitely warmed through now. The pastries also come from Aunties. STAFF Minimal interaction, but friendly and quick. Only one person was working the counter at a time, but I mean, its not like it was super poppin so there wasnt much of a wait. SPACE/LOCATION Now on the corner of Greenleaf and Bailey for just a couple months now after moving from their old location, where they were for 6 months. Fairly large area with a variety of seating options (couch, counter, tables). There are a handful of outlets scattered along the walls. The music is a little loud for my taste, but not unbearable for studying/working. Lighting is a little strange - lots of natural light in the front, bright white light over the counter where they make drinks, but then sort of dim towards the back. The single-person restroom is brightly lit and clean. Street parking ranges from 1 to 2 hours during the day, but theres also a 3 hour parking lot nearby (on Comstock).

Now that its close, so sad. It was the one of the greatest place to go. Gabriel made the best drinks in Whittier there. All the people who I recommend to go, kept going there. Food wad good. Only sometimes took long to serve it. Had my birthday and anniversary party there with a few friends. Sad it closed. But I would give it 10 if it opens and Gabriel is the bartender again.

How to explain. If you like a la cart, this is your place. Im not a big meal eater so this is convenient for me. I enjoy the atmosphere, the ambience of the location, and lets not forget the servers are on top of things. I truly recommend the Brink for its historical atmosphere that fits uptown Whittier and quality of food. I will return.

I had a burger that oddly had a fruit on it (was it pear? I dont remember) - it was delicious. We also had a cheese tray and it was also good. The atmosphere was great - love that the menus come in old books. Manager was friendly and waitress was easy to connect with. Great place.

All of the staff is very friendly and easy to get along with. Chelsea is very knowledgeable about everything they offer. Bret and Vito are the best bartenders I have ever met. And this place is perfect to bring a date, grab coffee, a beer, do homework, or all of the above.

Great atmosphere, steam punk and rustic, thats what Id describe this place. Quality customer service. I stopped by to charge my phone, ended up buying a Chai latte, and sitting on couch by the giant window. Priceless!

The only reason why Im giving it a 4 is that they stopped serving brunch at 130 when the signage said 3. Nonetheless, the coffee and juices were on point. Great study spot and for coffee addicts like myself!
